It's funny because FT was the company that would make their transformers with the more heroic proportions and look compared to others. But DS did a bang up job with their version and FT went the route of following the toon design to a T (with the shoulders, big pelvis/crotch area)
Great comparison, thanks for making this video. Metallic red Transistor still looks amazing and I can’t bring myself to get rid of him although in general I prefer more toon looking, I think fanstoys has strayed too far from their sweet spot of toon looking with just enough detail to look better. I was sold on the DS Blaster and intended that to be my Blaster, however Ramhorn looks terrible and If they went out of business it’s unlikely we’ll get the other cassettes to make a set. So I have FT Blaster coming too and we’ll see if the paint sells me over DSs proportions and overall look. But the main reason I didn’t cancel my ft blaster preorder was because if you want a nice set of tapes you have to get Rewind with Blaster. The old and new KFC tapes won’t look as nice. And the oversized mmc ones won’t have the nice pair like ft either of they ever get them all out. Maybe the gold chest piece will make Ft Blaster shine too 😜
I agree with with all your points… and it sounds like you have the same challenges as me… I can tell you that after I made the video… for some reason I’m loving the paint finish on FT… and as for the cassettes… I’m right there with you… I am looking forward to getting all of the soon… and I agree with yu about KFC and MMC… although MMC does look nice… it unfortunately wont scale well with my collection… The gold chest looks nice…. But I’m still thinking about it…

Got the DS version, just like the proportions better, while FT does better on the toon and QC part.
DS does look good… it’s just unfortunate that the character design was made a little wonky, which FT did a great replicating…

FT alt mode has the correct position for the tape deck. its off to the side.
Yes… I didn’t mention it, but FT alt mode is also very cartoon accurate…

FT has some unique transformations… and the toon looks great! FT for me too.
Use a waterslide autobit decal and it will sit nicely.

It is no such thing. It either looks like the toon (it's source), or not.
Not sure how to respond… but I hear you… It’s just a word… that describe how the figure is overly toon… DS is toon but FT is more toon…
