This is a fantastic reel. I bought this one based on the review. It has a very smooth drag, great brakes and it's super light. I have spooled mine with Sunline FC Sniper 4lb Camouflage Bass line and it's works so well. I upgraded my sidecap bearing to a Hedgehog Studios BFS micro ball bearing and it's very smooth. I am going to invest in a JDM Shimano but I can't fault this reel.
While I may not always agree with your opinions on equipment I continue to watch your vids cuz every now & then you find a gem like this that I otherwise I never would've heard of. I'm gonna pull the trigger on this 1. Thanks for the information & continuing to find quality reels from places alot of us never would've given the opportunity. Tight lines
The fact is Chinese reel manufactures are taking over the market by producing quality reels at much lower costs. This is exactly what Japanese reel manufactures did to the American reel manufactures some years after World War 2. You might say what goes around comes around. This holds true for all categories of rods and fishing tackle. I think this ultralight reel is just another good reel for the money. Being lighter is an attribute, but I am happy using the models I have and see no reason to upgrade just because it is slightly lighter. However, it is great that new anglers have so many choices of reels to fit their fishing style.
@Bennybass They may pay their workers less however; unskilled laborers do not make precision parts needed to produce quality fishing tackle. If you look, where most fishing tackle ordinates makes it obvious they use superior technology to produce their products. They can sell products at lower cost because the Chinese government supports manufactures and does not regulate them into bankruptcy. They got the technology from American investors. If I can buy a fishing reel for $60 dollars and it ships free from China, why does the same reel cost $200 dollars at Bass Pro or Cabela’s? Because their profit level is outrageous, that is why. Workers in China are not slaves by any means. They have health care, retirement, and their children get good educations. Their middle class is doing much better than ours is. They have less crime and drug problems. However, they do not spend time trying to solving all the World’s problems and do not tolerate people looking for a free ride.

There are companies that build production plants in America, provide jobs, and sell their products to us and other countries. That is called fair trade. China has controlling interests in many large America businesses. However, they play by their rules and impose their ideas. America businesses in China are controlled by their rules also, this unfair trade.
It seems like the Pw100 has a new upgrade version this year on Aliexpress, with much lighter spool, around 8.3g with the bearings. I bet that spool will coming in around 6g++ without the bearing😂. Insane!
Great review mate. Saved me $85 AUD. I bought a gh100 and a cudouble. . Keep the tests coming. Love to see some old reel comparisons too. No pressure!!
As always a dope video. Not going to lie I kinda like the pw100 over the spirit fox. They cast damn near the same but I like the looks compared to the bright colors of the spirit fox. Have them set up on the same rods and took them out this morning to the local river. Maybe a 5 foot increase in distance on the same settings with the pw100 over the spirit fox. Also when I bought the reel the seller said they had the same brakes as the gh100 so was kinda bummed when it was standard magtrax brakes. Lastly I think the pw has a better feel for the drag when pulling in a fish. All in all stoked I got the spirit fox for $45 and then the pw100 for $43 just by asking the seller for extra discounts 😅. Tight setups means tight lines brotha 🤘
they either made the plastic frame and side plates out of even flimsier plastic, or used a different pot metal for the main gear. to me no plastic framed reel is worth $50 or even $20,, when you can get good aluminum framed reels for $100.
I guess one should check on gear materials of PW100 as perhaps a major contributor for a clue where the 1 oz weight reduction source compared to spritfox
My guess is Power Wind (long I). There's a type of fishing in Asia called "wind fishing" and it has nothing to do with air movement but is all about the line retrieve.

Waiting for the casting review...using my scorpion mgl as a semi bfs currently but fiending to get a true bfs reel soon...i catch so many small fish i might as well invest for 55 dollars!
They're made for low test lines with a thinner diameter. Like 8lb on down. Its a style that originated for trout fishing small streams in Japan with a baitcaster.
@@typoh2018 yup..was about to say the same thing..and factually if u put 4-6lb test it can easily fill up to 50metre of lines..depends on brand and type..but that pretty much safe to say u can cast as far as u can even if the spool is that shallow

the worst thing in some of chineese reels(gh100 for example) is that line stucks between spool and frame. and it cant be predicted before you start casting

What I did to lessen the backlash is that I added a split shot (smallest size) about a foot up into the line but still getting it but not as bad. The only down side is it kind of spook the fish with the split shot.
Is ali express the only place that we can purchase these reels and why don’t we have a company here that could make these reels? Do you think it’s cheaper to order from Ali Express rather than a company that could get them shipped over here?
I have a Shimano Aldebaran BFS XG, Fishband GH100 and Tsurinoya XF-50. The Shimano is definitely higher quality but the others fish very well, especially considering the price. Have you tried them?
