In this video we’re going to be going over the upcoming iFishband Tendershoot round BFS reel. I finally managed to get a copy in my hands and we’ll be unboxing the reel and doing a bit of talking about it. This video won’t be super in depth but it’ll get you guys a first look at the reel. If you have any questions about the reel or would like me to take a look at anything please leave your question in the comments section down below.

Thought it was perfect. Think amazing thirst for info on this reel and cost to value ratio. Looking forward for teardown. Right hand out of stock now. For me, trying to decide on whether to pull trigger when available or wait. Probably wait. Fishing still miserable here w/heat & high humidity. Also, can't wait to hear about your Serra(?) trip. Hey sonofafisherman! Haha great name btw if it’s referencing the saying I think you’re trying to reference 😆. If not then don’t mind me 😅… I do agree with you that the reel is quite handsome. Also, technically it is out as you can order it from the dankung website. Otherwise, I believe baitfinesse empire will start selling theirs tomorrow. I’ve been told they have very limited stock as this first initial run of reels was limited to 600 total for the entire world. I believe 200 were allocated to Malaysia and the US with the majority going to Malaysia. The remaining 400 to various Chinese vendors but dankung is, if I’m not mistaken, the largest Chinese vendor. They do ship overseas though and as more vendors appear I will share them with you all. I will be sharing a teardown video of the reel soon and then a follow up video with some short term impressions of the reel. Cheers my friend!

Hey Jay! That’s a good call! I do have a bit of a backlog of gear to unbox and review. In the spirit of round reels, I also have the aioushi stream monster reel to look at as well haha. There’s also a sheng he round reel coming out as well but I think I may pass on that one as I’ve got too many things to look at and not enough time haha. I have had the Kawa/sabre JKS 51 for the last 2 years and I just love it. Its tiny and casts decently above 3 grams. The only thing it lacks is the drag clicker and an easy access to the spool

Looks to be a nice reel, on paper and appearance somewhere in the next tier of cdm ,in the company of the Arise air.
Or...... just another mag trax braked reel sharing the same OEM internals in a fancy metal shell .
Either way theres nothing wrong with either option ,or it may surprise and be an enigma.
I plan on getting one if ever they become mainstream and the deals start.

Hey James! You may be onto something with your assessment there. These reels are getting to the point where it is hard to differentiate them and they all perform rather similarly. A good thing imho. In any case, I hope you watch the teardown video which was just released. A bit long but I found some very odd things in the internals that are worth taking a look at. You do top notch videos! It looks larger than the Shimano round reels in their smallest sizes, 50, 51, bfs, etc…. You would know,, is it? I don’t know how big your hands are.., thanks
Hey David! Thanks so much for the kind words and question! iFishband designates this reel as the TS50/51. Based off the designation and the size I would say it is a 50 sized reel. I wish I had a conquest bfs to compare it to as that is also a 50 but in an upcoming video I have on this reel you’ll see it actually is very close to the daiwa millionaire ct sv which they consider a 70 sized reel. So… the palming size doesn’t quite directly correlate to the reel size designation imho. I think the reel size designation is more for line capacity and a general guideline more than anything. I could totally be wrong though on that… Anyhow, thanks for stopping by and cheers my friend!
Hey David! I misspoke! The tendershoot is designated as the TS100/101 so it seems ifishband is considering this a 100 sized reel. That being said I would guess that this is very similar in size to the conquest bfs as it is very close to the millionaire(which isn’t a bfs reel but a finesse reel). Sorry for the mixup and cheers!
Looks nice. I don't love how far the handle is from the reel body. The brake adjustment is just flat out dumb.
Hey Timothy! I completely agree with you on that 😂. I did query one of the iFishband guys and was told the reason it is like that is to help balance the reel. I’ll be taking a closer look at that while I get more use out of the reel and report back! Cheers my friend!!!

I have not made a review for that reel just yet as I have many other projects to attend to but hopefully I can find some time to get to it. Hi, hard to tell from your video; does it have drag clicker? If it does, it doesn't sound loud. But can you feel the drag clicker?
Hey Joe! Check out this short I made. It’s basically a clip from the initial video of the drag clicker sound. The drag clicker is not the loudest I’ve heard but you can still hear it fine. Hope this helps!

That reel is like a fusion between the Daiwa MILLIONAIRE CT and the 2017 Calcutta Conquest lol
Hey Lee! Haha yes you can definitely see where they took design and styling cues from. The orange accent, the slanted cuts, and the side plate from the millionaire and the body looks very conquest like. I think for the price it’s quite a good reel and very easy on the eyes as well. Looks good. Is there a difference between casting this round type reel vs a low profile like the Curado BFS?
Hey Abel! Nope. Well technically no. Take for example the Shimano Aldebaran BFS and the Shimano Conquest BFS. They both share very similar internals, braking system and spool. As such, they cast very similarly albeit Shimano has purportedly improved the casting of the conquest as it is 1 year newer. So… technically no difference but there also could be but it wouldn’t be due to the body of the reel. Hope that makes sense? Cheers my friend!

Thank you for the heads-up. Upon checking, I found that Dankung isn't actually down. Yet, there seems to be a problem when accessing Dankung via a link from RUclips on Chrome; it redirects to a login page. This issue doesn't appear on Safari or mobile devices. The "limited quantity of 600" seems to be a marketing tactic, as I've discovered numerous Chinese vendors with plenty in stock.

Hey Steven! Yea… I’ve been thinking about that and I will likely suggest to folks to wait until after I complete my series of videos for the reel being reviewed. I’d hate for folks to get buyers remorse because they didn’t get the full story while I have not had a chance to get some good testing in. In any case, I also purchased a LH reel today at full retail price so that I can give this RH unit away at a later video! Cheers my friend!
How does it compare to a Shimano Calcutta conquest in performance?
Hey Ausher! I unfortunately can’t make that comparison as I don’t have a conquest but I did get some use out of it today and can say that it casts very well. Used a smattering of lures from 3g-7g and it handles them all like a champ. I would say it is an easier to cast reel than the Aldebaran which shares similar guts to the conquest bfs. However, people have been saying that the cq casts well. Stay tuned for my teardown video coming out soon! Cheers my friend!
My guess is the reel will not be up to the refinement, tolerance and performance levels of the conquest bfs or the millionaire. But you are also not paying the same price as those 2 reels. The evaluation criteria should be is the Tender Shoot a good reel for $150.
Hey Eric! I really gotta get used to this yt “handle” thing as it shows you as zankyou101 now =\. Kinda miss seeing your old handle. Anyhow, yes you are 100% correct. I was comparing the reel to my daiwa millionaire and the two reels are two completely different beasts. In all of the aspects you mentioned above they are different. I’ll go over some of those points in the next videos as I’ve been finding some “interesting” things that I think folks will and should know about the reel. Will try to crank that video out sooner rather than later as it seems this reel has quite the buzz behind it. Cheers my friend!!!

Hey Andrei! I have a few videos I need to crank out and the Aioushi is def one of them. I’ll take a look at what you mentioned. I have a feeling it might be a cog wheel that drives the worm shaft. If that’s the case then it should be fine as there are many reels that use resin worm shaft gears. I’ll take a look though! Thanks for commenting and cheers my friend!
Lots of plastics are self lubricating. And the workload is relatively light. I doubt it’ll wear out or be bad or anything. You’re not gonna be fighting tuna with this reel.

Hi, the reel handle; do you know if the shaft handle diameter is 8X5 or 7X4, please? I have one on order and I want to change out the handle.
Hey Joe! I answered your question on the first response but in case you didn’t see it the tendershoot uses an 8x5mm handle opening size. Hope that helps and cheers!
I have the fishband clamber and love it , but is there any benefit to a round bfs reel over a conventional baitcaister looking bfs reel ?
Hey there Dave! To answer your question simply, no. A round BFS reel is mainly an aesthetic choice. They generally do have better construction as nicer higher end round reels are CNCd from a block of, typically, aluminum. The tendershoot is aiming to bring the quality and performance of the higher end round reels to the public at a much lower price. The tendershoot comes in somewhere around $130-145 compared to a JDM Shimano conquest bfs at around $381, current price on plat.co.jp. If you have the clamber and love it and have no need for a round reel then it’s totally ok to pass over this reel. There may be a slight bump in casting performance as this is a newer design than the clamber but I would say it’s likely a marginal difference. Unfortunately, I do not own a clamber to compare to. Size comparison with 17 or 23 bfs calcutta
Hey Vue! Would love to do a comparison for you but I unfortunately do not own either of those two reels. I do, however, have a Daiwa Millionare CT SV70 that ifishband was using to benchmark this reel. In the next video I can show you how it compares to that reel. Looking at them right now the frame of the reels are almost identical however the tendershoot’s main gear housing protrudes out a bit unlike the millionaire. I am guessing this is because the tendershoot’s MG is a larger diameter than the millionaire’s MG. Anywho, I hope that helps and cheers!

Hey ray! Thanks for sharing your thoughts and opinions! I do agree that JDM reels are made to a higher standard and may last longer but you do pay a much higher premium that not everyone can reach. Also, some people may not want to invest a ton of their hard earned money into a new setup that might be completely foreign to them and that’s where budget gear shines. Hey sanotsuke! Out of curiosity did you purchase one of these reels? I do agree that the conquest will likely feel much better. Unfortunately I do not have a cq to compare to but I do have the reel that ifishband wanted to benchmark this reel to which is the daiwa millionaire. Compared to that reel it is night and day different. The tendershoot and the millionaire are two completely different reels imho. Anyhow, I will be going over all of this in an upcoming video soon. This video was just to be an unboxing to show everyone what the reel looks like since I had just received it and to get some information out there. Cheers my friend!

Conquest bfs feel omg. But the total weight can be a bit higher then those anorexic reels. You should brudda. . I'm tryna save up for one. .... But I keep getting side track
@@Sanotsuke hey sanotsuke! Hm… I wouldn’t compare this reel to a Steez… the difference in build quality and what not are very apparent and the goals of the two reels couldn’t be farther apart. Ifishband is trying to provide the look and feel of a round reel with good performance at a third or more of the cost of a high end jdm reel. I think you are well off with the Acura, I have absolutely no experience with the salamandura and no experience with the arise pro plus. I will say though that Haibo has pretty decent build quality and performance. I’d love to have a cq bfs but I have way too many reels to look at currently and an Aldebaran that overlaps that reel heavily in terms of performance. Anywho, look forward to getting this thing out on the water and seeing what it can do! Cheers my friend!
