    These babies look fantastic ! Very smart idea to put half a tank against the wall. 2 kits = 4 halfs. All in a row against an "industrial background wallpaper sort of thing" and you have the impression of a decent chemical plant without giving much space away.

    I've just purchased a cheap airbrush to see if I can get into airbrushing. This has helped a great deal, many thanks

      Hi thanks. If you check out more of my videos I have one on airbrush weathering track and ballast. An airbrush is useful tool to have

  • @andrewstevenson5449
    @andrewstevenson5449 4 месяца назад

    Looking good for what might otherwise be an awkward corner. Some of the Walthers kits - especially the more industrial stuff - can be really useful for things UK and the German manufacturers haven't done, and being HO, they're great for corners like that, where you get a bit of perspective too. Just remember that if you put any figures up near them to use HO figures (or as they're probably underscale for HO anyway, 1:100 or even TT figures) or the scale difference will be very obvious.

    Excellent Dave, i have a corner and have been thinking what i could add and i have two gasometers and was leaning that way and then hey presto you put this up. Liked the airbrush tips, all the best.

    • @DeanPark
      @DeanPark  5 месяцев назад +1

      Cheers. Yeah gasometers are a handy way to fill an awkward space. I’ve not ruled it moving them to the other corner now that I see them both built!

    Of all the model railways I've watched, this has to be the first gas storage tower I've seen. A nice addition.😊

    • @DeanPark
      @DeanPark  5 месяцев назад +2

      It’s something a bit different. I think it will add a nice industrial scene to that corner of the layout where there will be factories etc.

    It looks very good, the weathering just right. I have used sponge before and found it works well. I do not airbrush very often, I don't mind on a big kit like this but don't like when it takes twice as long to clean as it does to paint something.

    • @DeanPark
      @DeanPark  5 месяцев назад +1

      I do enjoy airbrushing, but its the setting up and cleaning that puts me off sometimes too!

    I've built 2 of these, one for the steel mill and the cement factory 🏭. They are a bit fragile especially the framing. A good model to have. Enjoyed the video 📹

    • @DeanPark
      @DeanPark  5 месяцев назад +2

      The framing is a bit fragile isnt it. The railings are also easily broken. I had a few that were broken beyond repair and had to get spares from Walthers, and even a couple of them arrived damaged! Cheers. Dave

    You should take the nozzle off and take the needle out of the front.
    Pulling it out of the back pulls paint backwards through the o-ring that seals the air... these are very hard to clean and replace, so preventing them getting dirty keeps them alive for longer.
    I learnt the hard way when I went to paint and shot myself with paint coming backwards out of the brush due to that seal failing...

    Good video here Dave, it was overall quite nice seeing this be built up and seeing what you do to make structures ready for putting on the layout, I have a fair few buildings and structures already but haven’t made any modifications to them yet, they are also mainly things like railway buildings and houses, I haven got anything like this yet, good video overall, from the looks of it you did a great job.

    Nice kit and a nice job of weathering. Amazing how these once common structures have all but disappeared from the landscape. I'm a big fan of Walthers kits and have a few dotted about my layout. Cheers

    What a cracking job on a nice model. If I had the space I’d love to have a gasometer on the layout. I’ve recently discovered Tamiya X series acrylics and been getting good results with them. For consistency I now thin all my paints by weight on a little set of jewellers digital scales - Tamiya works great 50:50 by weight with thinner.

    • @DeanPark
      @DeanPark  5 месяцев назад +1

      Cheers. Yeah I really like working with Tamiya acrylics. Enamels still the best, in my opinion, but acrylics allow faster drying time and help speed up jobs.

    Thanks Dave excellent video as usual. Quick question if I may, with the airbrush do you clean it between different colour applications or as its weathering you not too concerned about that as it adds to the overall effect?

    • @DeanPark
      @DeanPark  5 месяцев назад +2

      I don’t clean it out fully between colours. I just empty the cup and run a little thinners through the brush to partially clean it out. But A mix of colours is fine for weathering!

    yes that sure looks good. Now i think Walters do some good kits and some awful kits that often need a lot of extra work to fit properly. But this looks nice though. One question, why didn't you try the british kit that is made by Modelux, Gasometer kit - it also come in n scale and looks very good. But i haven't tried it. anyway you did a great job and as always you videos are super pro. thanks !

    • @DeanPark
      @DeanPark  5 месяцев назад +1

      Hi, thanks, glad you enjoyed the video. Modelux...quite honestly, I didn't know they existed until I had built the first of my walthers ones. And I was so impressed by the first build I wanted to build another! Modelux does look good. But isn't it made from card? I wanted something a little more robust in this instance. But I see they have other kits that do look appealing.

    • @HenrikSweden1
      @HenrikSweden1 5 месяцев назад

      @@DeanPark yes you are right, the kits are lazer cut board, It is possible that it is a bit harder to paint that material without warping it. Plastic may allow handling better. But the result and the size of Modelux kits looks very good. I am looking forward to your upcoming videos. Keep up the good work !
