It never reaches the level of Final Fight or Steeets of Rage, but this sequel to Rival Turf! is a good, solid upgrade over its predecessor and is worth checking out if you like belt-scrolling beat 'em ups.
I used a midi version of this game's boss music in one of my Multimedia Fusion games wayyyyyyy back in middle school. That was almost 20 years ago. Time flies.
Great upload. I used to play this with friends back in 93 but somehow I forgot the game title. I literally searched "SNES beat them up game" and finally found the cover art and the title :D
I mentioned enjoying your thumbnail timing before, and I once again can't help but be highly amused by the sight of a ninja with a shotgun blowing a dude away while a background character cowers in the background.
I still remember to this day it was about 25 years ago buying this game for me and my brother at a small PC store there were boxes of PC, NES, SNES and Genesis games everywhere. I saw the reviews for Brawl Brothers and had to buy it.
FOR THOSE WHO DON'T KNOW If you have 2 items, you can be invincible if you rapidly switch between the items, doesn't work with food tho, for obvious reasons. Works great at the helicopter on the bridge or when guys are shooting at you because they will kill each other 😅 It's a dope hack!
Brawl Brothers, a platform beat 'em up developed by Jaleco Ltd. and published and distributed by Jaleco USA, and licensed by Nintendo for the Super NES in 1993, is the second game in the Rushing Beat series, after Rival Turf!, and was followed by The Peace Keepers in 1994. This game was Nintendo's answer to the Streets of Rage franchise for the Sega Genesis. As in Final Fight, the player has to walk sideways and fight bad guys for several stages. Next to the general food-health supplies, the player can also pick up weapons like sticks, guns, grenades and such. A special "Angry Mode" gives injured fighters a burst of energy. The graphics, music, and addition of more enemies in Brawl Brothers and moves than the original game. Criticism included the lack of speed, precision, and polish compared to games like Streets of Rage, Double Dragon, and Street Fighter II. Brawl Brothers graphics are excellent. They almost match the graphics of the arcade games of 1993. The gameplay may be a bit less, but it's still a great game.
My top Beat them Up game along the SNES era! Used to play this a lot with my sister and the game is fair which we can get to almost final boss with the allowed Continues. Loved the variety of items you can pick up and the environment (mines, electric field) you can use to your advantage to defeat minions. A trick I learnt is that you can use L or R button to throw an item (even cans or med kit) up to 3 times and it'll do decent damage! It also allows you to throw the rock 2 additional times. Lastly it's really satisfying throw enemies off platforms!
Imagine what it must be like as a regular every day guy in this game's city, walking by multi-story buildings as dozens of bodies just start landing all around them...
In the 90s when I was like 10 years old, everyday for months my uncle and zj would play this game. We struggled with the second last stage for weeks. Thenwe could get past all the stages except the last one and after more weeks of grinding we finally beat it.
This is very interesting...I did not know this game existed. After Final Fight for the Snes I played most of my beat em' ups on the Genesis/Sega CD. The Snes was more my JRPG console (minus a few standouts) and occasionally adventure game. What I find intriguing is the game features throws much like my favorite beat em up of all times, Streets of Rage 2 but...I almost think this game does it a little better. The moves in Streets of Rage (all of them) were bombastic over the top affairs that wouldn't really work in real life. Brawl Brothers on the other hand seems to add fluidity to the throws making them far more realistic. When your character slides behind an enemy to (I believe it's a hip toss) toss them it is an incredibly smooth transition that avoids the Streets of Rage jump/flip, then throw/slam opponents routine. Although I absolutely hate the jump kick in Brawl Brothers. Addendum- I have two pet peeves when it comes to beat em ups. 1. I can't stand goofy walking animations (Brawl Brothers does a good job here) as it just destroys the illusion. An example of a bad walking/resting animation is Mutation Nation and Burning Fight on the AES/MVS. It looks like the main characters are in dire need of a bathroom break. 2. I cannot stand awkward jump kicks. The one I have seen in Brawl Brothers looks...it goes up at an angle?! What is that about? Other than that it's solid.
Loved the game growing up hated the green variants of every enemy especially butch the green variants was always super fast low damage compared to the yellow dash but had multiple hid damage (damage per second)
The game's story involves the three characters you didn't pick at the start of the game being kidnapped and having cybernetic clones being made of them - those clones are the first three bosses, and presumably the big bad didn't need the originals around much longer.
when I found out about slash’s flame thrower game changer relied on game pro magazines or equivalent back n that days internet was not to useful back n the days
Tried it on Nintendo switch but the collision detection is horrible and the enemies can grab you almost constantly and from afar. Would be a good game if it weren´t for those issues.
Somehow got stuck at 1st level and cant gt to the boss level from sewer..game is ass too, enemy can hit u when they not perfectly lined up with ur char but u cant hit em when youre not in the same line..ass game and prob bad port in switch
With the thumbnail image, i thought it was a fighting game. I was wrong. Still a nice discovery. PS : 2 days ago, i discovered this FMV game ruclips.net/video/D9rEFMfFGD0/видео.html It was...special.
NintendoComplete it has a sequel ? I didn’t know that. I was looking through Robert Culp’s filmography when i fell on this. I was curious so i checked on RUclips. What i saw was surprising. That’s all i can say.
Yeah, Voyeur was odd. Completely trashy, but I had fun with it. The sequel came out a few years later on, mainly on computers. It was about as trashy as the first one was hahaha
Im gonna be frank here. It not the game itself. Most brawlers are more or less the same. Its more about being sold on the games concept and art. The characters in this game look ridiculous. A ninja rockin christmas colors, a martial artists rockin Ugs and hazmat gloves and the black guy looks like Cap n Crunches replacement. Cmon! I would have never approved this.
Alright, so the sewer stage... You know how many hours I spent trying to figure out how to get outta there before going on RUclips? Like how is someone supposed to figure that out off rip?
Hey Bro, I have a game request if you like to participate on. The game is called "Radikal Bikers" Originally available in the Arcades (the better version) and then ported on the Playstation. It was developed by Galeco and publish by Atari Games in the U.S. and SNK in Japan.. You deliver pizza on a motor scooter and you have to defeat your rival deliverer from another pizza parlor to the selected destination. Love this game for sure. Anthony..
I never could beat this by normal means both ways. I always got to the middle of the airplane stage and got a game over. The game just seems too hard, even with the Russian Beat code. Not much room for error, cheap enemies. There are not enough lives or continues for that many levels.
It never reaches the level of Final Fight or Steeets of Rage, but this sequel to Rival Turf! is a good, solid upgrade over its predecessor and is worth checking out if you like belt-scrolling beat 'em ups.
Is this emulation or actual cart?
@@andrewmauney3082 It's emulated
Are you serious ? The moveset of Brawl Brothers is bigger than the Final fight one
Everybody prefer different!
Brawl Brothers is better than Final Fight on the Snes.
Lol this guy knows the golden rule.. always go to options before starting a new game 😂
I used a midi version of this game's boss music in one of my Multimedia Fusion games wayyyyyyy back in middle school.
That was almost 20 years ago. Time flies.
Loved Rival Turf as a kid, one of my favorites...But only 20 years later i discover the game has 2 sequels !
So do I!
Wait two sequels i thought it was just Rival Turf and Brawl Brothers?
Great upload. I used to play this with friends back in 93 but somehow I forgot the game title. I literally searched "SNES beat them up game" and finally found the cover art and the title :D
Loved this game back in the day and still have it 👍🏿
I can't be the only one who got stuck on the sewers
You're not alone. It's pretty ridiculous to put a maze so early in the game IMO.
Me and my brother got stuck but we would play it over and over thus game is so underrated
Me and gf got stuck too. How do you get out?

I am stuck now lol

Man, no wonder I wasted so much time on the SNES growing up. Even the games I didn't have were awesome.
First snes game my dad got me omfg love this game
i loved this game so much when i was a kid, amazing memories :')
I always enjoyed a good beat em up. This is amongst them. Thanks for sharing this.
This game was the first time I saw the ability to pick up a gun in a beat em up. Now that was badass!

Awesome that you're familiar with this underrated and mostly unknown title. Looking forward on seeing it bro. 8^)
What a classic! Awesome game I have many memories playing this. I had no idea it was the sequel to Rival Turf?!
Brawl brothers for life
I used to rent this game all the time. Don't understand why I never bought it or at least why I never got my dad to buy it for me
First nes game my dad got me jackal first game on snes this one one love playing this game with my bro co op
Jackal is amazing
Great game, I came here to find out how to escape the drainage. :D
Me too!!!
Rival Turf and brawl brothers was dope.
I would have LOVED to have seen Jaleco attempt a TMNT game with this game engine.
Would've been, quite possibly, the best TMNT brawler to date

Omfg the mine field while playing as Kazan is my most favorite part of the game ninja throwing enemies onto landmines was hilarious
I rented this from Blockbuster back in 1993 and beat it the next day. Fun times.
Hi my friend. One question, what emulator do you use with avi recording function?
I somehow got a glitched title screen when I was playing the game via Switch Online.
The music is great. Especially in stage 2!
ILL! ILL! ILL!
Pieced them both up real good!

God...that level 2 string arrangement.😳
Any gameplay yet on the new one that’s coming out?
I can't imagine there's a 2nd RT game's coming out, this game is great.
Its hilarious when the enemies die. They sound like they are vomiting😂😂😂😂
I miss this game

I remember the mine field level and made sure every enemy was his hit by the mines I also played as kazan
That epic moment when you got a gun
I'm surprised they never came out with "Rival Smurf"
I wish that the Japanese version of the 2nd and 3rd game was translated.
This game used to go for like 12$ on ebay but now it's like a gagillion dollars. Freaking scalpers.
You a buy a muticart of the trilogy on Amazon for 15$
Honestly some of these bosses were just HELL to deal with
Rival Turd glitch is thee best Creepy Pasta True. Look it up.
Slash special attack x and y flame attack does not consume energy and does the most damage plus can not be interrupted by enemy attacks
My most favorite level in this game was the mine field playing as kazan super fun
Have you ever thought about making top 10 list or anything?
I actually have, but I have been holding off because I'd want to be fair, and I haven't played everything. Yet. :D
This is Rushing Beat 2 (Japan)
Why didn't you use hidden moves & hyper throws? It'd be quicker to kick-ass.
Forgot about the games ai if you stand in a certain spot the enemy will jump off to their own doom
I'm very curious of how they manage to fit both version on one cartridge
There’s only one game and this is it .

Yeah. Here in Brazil we mostly got the imported Japanese version.
Tem um da Jaleco muito bom. Brawl brothers
Played this game once and never got out of the sewers
Cant keep going to the end gotta go thru the first couple openings
could they have made the text any slower?
You know, they really could have used a spar sprite for the character heads in the HUD to give them a little bit of colour. :-o

I never undersood after you beat up the boss and they say "you came in the nick of time". Were the Brawl Brother brainwashed or something?
I think it's a bad translation. I wish someone translated the Japanese version.

X and Y when playing as slash flaming lighter did the most damage

Tried it on Nintendo switch but the collision detection is horrible and the enemies can grab you almost constantly and from afar. Would be a good game if it weren´t for those issues.
Yeah, it's nowhere near as forgiving as other games. You have to be lined up perfectly to get hits in which can get annoying.
Somehow got stuck at 1st level and cant gt to the boss level from sewer..game is ass too, enemy can hit u when they not perfectly lined up with ur char but u cant hit em when youre not in the same line..ass game and prob bad port in switch
