With this monitor, the firmware updates since release. It runs 144hz, 12bit, full RGB 4K, HDR620+, 2x HDMI 2.1a inputs and can use freesync & g-sync. It is truly fricken the best 4k monitor by far. Impressed can do 12bit after I tried a more fancy HDMI cable. First time NetFlix shows Dolby Vision as well as Atmos in Windows 11
@@heycoach1057 Hey guys, okay. So this is overly detailed but, I use an HDMI 2.1b cable apart from when updating firmware, as I have a HDMI 2.1a graphics card (RTX 4080), so you get more bandwidth 40-48gbps+ than Displayport 1.4a 18-25gbps and no need for (DSC) compression etc. DisplayPort is required to update firmware. FYI: To access the monitor menu manually (without the software) there is a gold little button on the back rear right of monitor. Tap it to access the monitor menu. Flick is directionally to move and push in to confirm settings. I recommend using (a) Gaming profile 'Premium Color' and response time 'fastest'. - If the display doesn't have Premium Color is doesn't have the 2023 firmware yet. (b) Professional -> Pro Mode - 'Display P3' (c) Setting -> HDMI 2.1 -> 4K PC 144hz. (as it might be on console 120hz) To update Firmware: Get 'utility' software 'Gaming Intelligence' not MSI Centre (bloatware for most people): www.msi.com/Monitor/Optix-MPG321UR-QD/support#utility Download the 'firmware' www.msi.com/Monitor/Optix-MPG321UR-QD/support#firmware (1) Have the Displayport cable plugged into your graphics card and monitor. DisplayPort is the only way the firmware update works. (2) Plug all square looking plugs 3x outputs that go in the back of the display into your PC USB ports. (only 1 is required for the software to update latest firmware but they all do stuff) (3) Download MSI 'Gaming Intelligence' and install it. There will then be a little icon on the taskbar. (4) Download the 3x firmware updates (Scaler - Firmware), MCU and Joystick. In the Gaming Intelligence App click on the COG up the top right -> Click in order and locate the firmware files you downloaded. It will then update. To the 2023 firmware. When updated there will be a new profile under the gaming -> game mode -> Premium Color. There is a help PDF in the website and also the monitor driver. The 'gaming intelligence app' always you to update the firmware and it also allows you to use monitor controls from inside Windows etc. I probably made it more complicated. But basically, use displayport to update firmware with the app. Install the monitor driver. Then when all done. Verify using monitor Premium color is selected and 144hz etc. Compare with software. Will need to reboot i'd imagine. The versions you can compare with whats installed from the MSI 'gaming intelligence'. Frig, MSI should pay me :P
Thanks for this review, this monitor will be my first move into 4k on a PC, got its at £550 (UK) as there was a discount of around £200 where I normally purchase parts from. Gets here on Saturday. Looking forward from the move from 1440 to 4k :) - and most of this is down to your review.
@@504Trey Yes I did, really good value for money, works really well - first of all with a 3080 and now a 4070Sti - i only really play DayZ but for me one hell of a screen for the money
@@evetechtv Thank you for the reply. Another question, the Dell G3223D is a 1440 2k monitor with HDMI 2.0 Will this be a suitable monitor to use with a PS5? I know PS5 now supports 1440 resolution, my concern is that using the HDMI 2.0 port with the provided PS5 HDMI 2.1 cable will not give me 120FPS. I mainly play COD.
I play on Series X. I can see on OSD the local dimming OFF like u and de HDR off on the osd, but i have it on on my series X. Can i put on the local dimming and HDR?¿
I have recently purchased this monitor but the panel I received was leaning towards warmer tone like white is in a yellowish shade!! Is it normal or defective and also colour looks over saturated in default mode, any settings suggestions?
About the white color being yellowish, you might want to check its color reproduction with a colorimeter or a spectrophotometer. But I don’t think the color is off by much for a monitor of this caliber. Maybe you just changed a monitor? If so, it’ll take some time to get used to it.
@@karunsiri so as u said its default calibration of this monitor not just my panel has that white point issue? Isn’t it? I don’t own any colorimeter for myself im just an average consumer not a techie like you. So what im planning to do was tweak RGB values in-order to get proper white point!! Didn't show the scope in game?
That scope is cleaner than a dry erase marker on the monitor... After a few years the dry erase marker becomes difficult to remove.
Will u ever review the Asus XG32UQ & compare it to this monitor? There isnt really any real reviews on it on RUclips
Does it have a built in speakers?
Can u recommend best RGB (color temperature) value for this monitor inorder to get proper white point ?
How do you adjust the RGB on the back
On screen controls
Hi, what did you think about the contrast of this monitor?
It’s only 1000:1
What you guys think about this monitor for photo/video edition?
It can definitely do both. The DCI-P3 is 90% but the Adobe/sRGB coverage is well over 100% so it will be fine there on
@@evetechtv They advertise as 97 dci-p3
@evetechtv I'm between this one and the PA32UCR-K, the asus is miniled with 512 zones, so I not to happy about the halo thing.
How does this monitor compare to the Dell G3223Q?
The Dell is very well spec'd for the price. The difference will really be in the extra features the MSI has like auto brightness sensors and alike

I have the MSI optix 321UR-QD model for my ps5 but I feel the reds are way too strong in HDR. Do you know any way I can turn it down?
Not rally no... Cause you also lose custom colour when you use HDR
Do you try to watch youtube videos in 4k HDR? how it look? can you see the HDR?
Yes beautiful colors

The smart crosshair would be broken on COD MW2
I have recently purchased this monitor but the panel I received was leaning towards warmer tone like white is in a yellowish shade!! Is it normal or defective and also colour looks over saturated in default mode, any settings suggestions?
That’s because it’s a wide gamut display. You would want to clamp its color space to sRGB when not using HDR.
Hope this helps 👍
