We need more mechanics like Hektor....

If you're trying to pass smog and have an evap leak, and your vehicle is like my truck, the evap system only checks for leaks when it's between 15-85% fuel capacity, somewhere around there. Fill your tank all the way up, clear the check engine code with a obd2 reader (you can also borrow these from most auto part stores like Oreilly's and auto zone for free, but I highly recommend at least owning a cheap one), and then drive around 50-100 miles to build up some fresh driving data. Make sure you fill up your tank if it gets too low throughout this process. After that, you'll be all set to pass smog.

Geez, I started the video off with not knowing a damn thing about finding pressure leaks to pass inspection, now I feel like I can be a official state vehicle inspector. Hektor, your the shit!

What's great about this is that I just had to change my purge solenoid on my 13 Escape and that is a whole big deal because it's not just a two second swap. Thing is, the part was just replaced two years ago. What was my mistake? Doorman! Replaced it with a SMP now and hopefully no more issues.
