Next: Ren was a member of The Big Push band, they were a busking band on the streets of Brighton, UK. In this busking session they do a mashup covers of Bob Marley’s “I Shot The Sheriff”, Damian Marley’s “Road To Zion”, DJ Luck/MC Neat’s “Little Bit of Luck” & Dead Prez’s “Hip Hop”. Ren is wearing Red Suspenders in the video. It’s a busking classic. Loved your reaction BTW.
Ren also does some fantastic Retakes of original songs, Bittersweet Symphony - Verve, Right Here, Right Now - Fat Boy Slim, Loosing It - Fisher & More.
Busking suggestion: The Big Push - I Shot The Shetiff / Road To Zion / Hip Hop. Look for Ren in red suspenders :) If you are unaware, The Big Push was Ren's Band until 2022.
Welcome to 'Bardcore'. Ren read a newspaper article about a 14 year old boy who had killed a prostitute. Ren wrote and performed Jenny's Tale based on that incident. with the comment 'It's such a shame' which seems to be the standard, banal response when these terrible events occur. A couple of years later he elaborated with Screech's Tale. and a couple of years after that he tied it all up with Violet's Tale. turning the the trilogy into a comment on generational trauma. There are a million Easter egg's in the trilogy.
So nice to see a fellow Australian reaction. A couple of years ago I sent this to all my musically inclined friends as I couldn’t believe what I had just heard
great reaction 🦋 brilliant ain’t he? the most hard hitting part for me emotionally, the part that can turn me into a sobbing mess, still after having seen it a couple of hundred times, if my mood is so (even slightly) inclined is the fact that in violets tale ren tells us that she’s a silent girl and this line he repeats several times. through all of her story we don’t hear her say a single word, not even when abused does she break her silence right… which makes this hit so fucking hard “you see violet she was pregnant, poor violet she was nine months gone. >turning to the doctor violet ***broke her silence and she cried*** !!!! >if i’m to die right here tonight please let my babies stay alive.!!!< it made me gasp for air the first few times cuz without really saying much, while still saying everything ! you feel her love for her babies (i believe she’s aware she’s expecting twins, i think he’s hiding the S at the at the end in the start of the next word babie/s/tay, but you feel the mountainous amount of love she has for her babies, this girl that’su been abused her whole life and neglected by her mother, and the fact that he makes you feel that love and part desperation from her with with othe nly 7 simple words “violet broke her silence and she cried and the emotion in his voice in
I have watched dozens of people react to this video and you were the first one that caught onto the fact that he ended the first two stories with the line "such a shame".
Another great reaction! I've watched a great number of these reactions for the trilogy and it seems women are more sensitive to the line about Violet's father tucking her in but never leaving the room. It's like automatic that we know, sad really. You seem so empathetic and Ren gotcha in the feels with this. Astute of you to think Violet might be Screech's mum. Thanks so much. Can't wait for whatever u choose next! 🎉

I was just as devastated as you the first time I listened to this. In fact, it took me a couple of weeks to muster the courage to watch it again. Second time round, the shock was lessened and I came to really appreciate this masterpiece. Great reaction, BTW.
Yes you got it right, The more you think about the situation with the characters in his storys you can see how it comes to this tragic end . He is a wonderful story teller. His older lyrical videos are good . Nice reaction look forward to the next one .
Thank you for doing this tough one, and Ren reminding us of some of life's realities. Busking....One of the best ever sessions is " I shot the sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop the BIG PUSH, the band Ren was in, it is truly epic ( Red Braces version ) . Also he did a busking session with Chinchilla and the mix of One Dance.Drunk in Love is stunning. And of course " ChalkOutlines Live " is a must then " How to be Me " Loving your Ren journey so far.
Great reaction! Ren is an incredible story teller, and talented in so many ways. His diversity will impress you I'm sure. The rabbithole is deep, and full of surprises. The fact that his album sick boi made it to #1 in the UK totally independent, speaks volumes in itself.
You said, "What a storyteller..." That is a nutshell description of Ren. He is often called a bard. An artist. A master. A lyricist. A poet. A guitarist. A genius. I say.... yes. Great reaction! you have good instincts, and clearly you are an empathetic soul.
Really, anything Ren does is fantastic. Go to his RUclips channel, find something with a lot of views or with a title that's interesting. It's all great.
For The Big Push, depending on what floats your boat, I Shot the Sheriff or War Pigs, part of the same set busking on a street. The crowd vibe is great. Praise You - Fatboy Slim and Bongo Bong - Manu Chao are band videos but have a very cool vibe, very! Don't forget the collabs, Chinchilla will have you on your feet. Really enjoying your reactions, thank you.
Great reaction busking ren and the big push are the kings of busking - I shoot the sheriff - road to Zion - hip hop awesome love and respect from the UK 👍👍😀😀🌟 amazing channel 👍
His busking collabs with Sam Tompkins are so good to watch and listen to. But be prepared to go down another rabbit hole with Sam Tompkins solo work. They met when Sam was busking when he was around 16 and new to the game. He had no accompaniment and no mic. Ren (who was around 24 and a bit more seasoned at busking) saw him and thought he was good but needed some help so he lent him a mic and played guitar for him. There is a recording of this first meeting and on Sam's video for "Time Will Fly"
Great reaction🖤Would love to see your thoughts on Sick Boi and Money Game 1,2 & 3 these will blow your mind!! 💥Ren is such an old soul and he speaks often on behalf of the planet and where we are headed if we don't wake up!!
I might be wrong, but I look at it as Violet's children being Jenny and Screech meaning that it (Violence) continues on and on and that only if Violet speaks and most importantly we hear, that the cycle can change.
Another great reaction! My face went 😮 a couple times too when he really went into the darker characters at first - and these are more like Broadway performance pieces it feels with his versatility and animated acting ability. And that guitar is like an extension of him and does have that Spanish/Hispanic Flamenco sound to it at times with the nylon strings that give it a fuller, more gritty sound. And then he changes it up and we get vibes of alternative rock (in my opinion). I think the director Sam really shines on this one, was so creative - especially with the 4 bullets shot at him part. My favorite part was the third act - "Violet's Tale". Did you notice how he went in reverse in his chord progression when he said they needed to "rewind the hands of time"? And such an eerie vibe on that hospital bed when he's looking at and wondering about god knows what was behind those curtains, lol. I see you have a ton of requests for more Ren already so I'm just going to stay quiet on recommendations and enjoy the ride 😅 I will have a request eventually for another artist and I'm not sure how it works with you - but you'll get your time and energy filled up with more Ren for the foreseeable future if you continue going down the rabbit hole. 🍻

Welcome to the RENconnaissance. You’re officially a RENagade. Depending on what pill you take we will see how far down the rabbit hole you’ll go. May I make a suggestion? You may want to make a separate playlist for Ren so when others catch up they can find him more easily.
The Big Push busking I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/HipHop medley that many have mentioned is a great one, but my other recommendations would be to watch one of his duets with Chinchilla (Chalk Outlines or How to Be Me are both incredible), or the Music Crowns version of Blind-Eyed that he and Sam Tompkins do, or For Joe. Then when you are ready to dive into Ren’s rap side, my favorites there are The Hunger and Genesis. Have fun!!
Money Game 1,2 and 3. Glad I joined. I see your subs have shot up. That's the Renegades, You're one of us now. One more of us. one less of them. Welcome sister.
Lol. Yes the Renegades are very supportive. I'm really enjoying all the comments from REN's fanbase. Lots of really great info and most people have been really kind and welcoming. The Nightwish Army have also descended on my channel and have helped with the subs too. I'm glad you joined. I'll check out the Money Game soon... cheers 🍻🇦🇺👋
He does fun stuff also!! Losing It, What You Want, Love Music 1-4(2'smyfav), Genesis and busking I Shot the Sheriff/Zion/Hip Hop, War Pigs......there's so much!!😁
The back story i heard is Ren saw a story on a back page of a newspaper about a street murder and the article ended with "it's such a shame " he thought that was cold and disingenuous so wrote the first two tales, added rhe third chapter later. Th3 pt of "it's such a shame" is intentionally ironic
Eventually you will go through the 'Money Game trilogy'. Watch 'Crucify your culture' first. It is kind of a prelude to them. I'm enjoying your reactions. I'm a Ren reaction addict. lol I love his older music most these days like his demo's. Love 'Children of the moon' as well. Everything he does is amazing and will surprise you in different ways
When I saw this I guessed you would get emotional about it, it’s a bit of a bitter pill to swallow when you realise what’s happening. It’s Ren at his best really, his story telling and lyrical genius is outstanding! Anything Ren is good, but don’t ignore The Big Push, it was some guys he knocked around with when he was a busker. Edit: if you’re interested in really good acoustic guitarists Mike Dawes would be interesting to take a look at - He did a tribute to Eddie Van Halen (RIP) that’s 🤯🤯🤯 it’s called Jump 🌹
This is a story about victims of generational trauma. It refers to trauma that is passed down from survivals of trauma to their descendants.I feel that Violets tale deepens the tragedy of Jenny and Screech tale. If Jenny would have had a childhood, feeling wanted, loved and cared for that would have allowed her to be the child that she was, - instead of "walking the streets". And if James (Screech) "dear boy", ( as Ren so respectfully says) had felt loved, and safe... Yes, that is the thoughts this story brings to mind. They all gro up in a society that put blame and shame on the most fragile victims of the tremendous inequality this system create. Both Jenny, James, Violet, and Steve reacts the way science tells us
I could write a book on just about every Ren song... These are a few things I like to mention sometimes. Jenny's Tale you have to ask yourself what was a 14 year old girl wearing heels and "rosy cheeks" doing at night on a road "she walked a 1000 times before".
At the start of Screech's Tale, Ren starts the song by saying, "A story it starts at the end". Patrick was "missing" and Screech's GF was "Busy" because they were together. Then at the end as Ren does so often he brings it full circle and says, "A story it ends at the start" . Violate Tale - I LOVE the guitar rifts throughout the ENTIRE song. Ren so often does, he plays the part of Violate here on the bed after the rifts... (Violate waking up looking around confused as to how she got here and where is here?) With haunting/eerie hymns he sets the stage. Many catch the rewind . MANY more miss the speeding back up to real time when Ren/Violate wakes up on the table (After the fight between her and Stevie as he starts walking away). Lastly, Violet moved out at 16 into a flat paid by a "welfare scheme". It is logical to think that violet was already pregnant by this time. A teenage runaway might have a chance at being a beneficiary of this but a pregnant teenage runaway certainly has the qualifications to be granted this benefit. This was before she met Stevie who most would assume was the father of Jenny and Screech. If what was speculated was true, Stevie did some maths and figured that the numbers didn't add up, the baby wasn't his. He beats up Violet and calls her a "slut" which was quite specific when compared to usual cuss words like "bitch" or "cunt". This would also answer as to why Stevie asked "Why're you lying to me, violet?" And would make the slightly off phrase "Do you think I wanna do this, Violet" fit more consistently into the story.
A generational cyclic tragedy that come to a final end with the unknown closure of the blood line. Shakespeare would have felt proud of his achievement if he wrote this. Ren is the greatest bard of our time.
That why we call him a bard.!! And this is bardcore because of the subject matter. Think of Shakespeare all those centuries ago, Rens the next one.!!! Good reaction, keep going. 🇬🇧🇫🇴🇬🇧🇫🇴🇬🇧👍❤️❤️
New subscriber here. Since so many have recommended The Big Push busking videos, I'm going to suggest Ren and Sam Tompkins "Earned It/Man's World/Falling".
The story is even more horrifying when you think back that if Screech was 14 years old, so was Jenny. And she was walking down a street "she'd walked a thousand times before" in high heels, wearing makeup... very late at night.
You have it right - Violet was their mom and died when they were born. Assume they grew up separately in foster care and didn't know they had a sibling. What you may have missed is that Jenny and Screech were both 14 years old and Jenny was "in high heeled shoes" having "walked the streets 1,000 times before". Ren saw an article about a boy on trial for stabbing a young prostitute (I don't know if she actually died). The comment section was filled with "what a shame" without any thought or examination of how those kids ended up in that situation. Ren's VERY socially conscious, so he wanted to examine how it could have happened and ended up with this Shakespearian tragedy of a commentary on cycles of abuse and how people are often victims of the situations they're born into. You'll see/hear a lot of social commentary in his heavier songs. Ren has been through the wringer himself with his parents' divorce, his illness, misdiagnosis, and losing a close friend to suicide at 19 years old - you'll hear a lot of that in his songs too. When you need a break from the heavy songs, he has some that are just pure fun, especially if you like hip-hop. When you need a break, check out his busking videos for sure and maybe "Love Music" parts 1-4. I will warn you, Ren got sick when he was about 19 and missed out on a lot of life, so he grew up WAY too fast in some ways and very little in others - his fun songs have some adolescent humor (d**k jokes, but hilarious if you aren't shocked).
IIUC, he heard a news story about a boy stabbing a girl before getting killed himself nearby and an official commenting to the press on the circumstances of the incident allegedly remarked: 'It's such a shame' - and like yourself Ren thought this to be the Understatement of the Age
Your the first to think violet was a Transplant patient 👌👍 running with the storyline 👌♥️. You are going to be blown away by the back catalog of Ren his love music 1,2,3.and 4 are fun money game 1,2and3 more serious and his Duets with Chinchilla /Eden Nash /Molly Mckenna. Spoilt for choice and his recent release is tribute to the old school Hip hop Gs. Not end to his talent. ✌️♥️🏴
I found it funny that I guessed his mum first. I didnt say it but I thought that his mum was maybe identifying him at the hospital...not what actually happened...I did not pick that! Plenty more REN reactions to come. I'm legitimately hooked. Thanks for your comment.
Your going to get a million suggestions. But, Ren dropped a track 2 weeks ago called Back on 74/Message in a Bottle Retake that's very different, but musically gorgeous and happy. It's a live music video, where you get a feel for some of Ren's vocals and more plus it's current. The other suggestions are great but years old.
Lol. The suggestion list is getting long but I dare say I will do back on 74/message in a bottle as I have had lots of suggestions for that.
I'll check out the Money Game soon... cheers 🍻🇦🇺👋
Clockwork orange knocking.... those eyes. Damn 🙈
Bringing awareness to intergenerational domestic violence, how often the cycle perpetuates.
Don't worry, he has plenty of up beat music as well...😄
Awesome reaction!
Ren is a musical Genius.....thanks great reaction.
He does fun stuff also!! Losing It, What You Want, Love Music 1-4(2'smyfav), Genesis and busking I Shot the Sheriff/Zion/Hip Hop, War Pigs......there's so much!!😁
Just about everything Ren does demands a thought and a conversation, which hopefully leads to much needed change.
Well said and very true 👏
The back story i heard is Ren saw a story on a back page of a newspaper about a street murder and the article ended with "it's such a shame " he thought that was cold and disingenuous so wrote the first two tales, added rhe third chapter later. Th3 pt of "it's such a shame" is intentionally ironic
Eventually you will go through the 'Money Game trilogy'. Watch 'Crucify your culture' first. It is kind of a prelude to them.
I'm enjoying your reactions. I'm a Ren reaction addict. lol
I love his older music most these days like his demo's. Love 'Children of the moon' as well.
Everything he does is amazing and will surprise you in different ways
Ren is one in a million!!!!
"I thought this was going to be a funny love story of sorts"... she was not prepared... 🙂 Nice reaction.
Lastly,
Violet moved out at 16 into a flat paid by a "welfare scheme".
You could do Blind Eyed ft angry car park attendant with Sam Tompkins. It’s a live one.
A generational cyclic tragedy that come to a final end with the unknown closure of the blood line. Shakespeare would have felt proud of his achievement if he wrote this. Ren is the greatest bard of our time.
New sub here. I suggest "Chalk Outlines " for next your next Ren experience. 🇨🇦
Welcome to the Renegades :) strongly recommend Chalk Outlines and Sick Boi!
Sick Boi I have done and uploaded, Chalk Outlines will be coming very soon.
This is what Ren calls Bardcore! 😃
Welcome again to the Ren rabbit hole...please enjoy your stay
Great reaction keep going,Ren has lots of great video/songs! You should check his money game 3 video! It’s long but worth your time to watch!!!
Between Ren, Floor Jansen and Nightwish you're going to be in bits by the end of your musical odyssey.
Can i just appreciate your thumbnail....i like to think have your picture twice is a reference to twins...which is brilliant if deliberate
😎
I never get tired of that question "Who's Violet?"
I really enjoy your reactions to Ren. I’m gonna have to play catch up on your older reactions. I subbed. 😉❤️✌️
Cheers Abby. So glad you joined our little community of music lovers. Let me know if you have any suggestions.
That why we call him a bard.!! And this is bardcore because of the subject matter. Think of Shakespeare all those centuries ago, Rens the next one.!!!
Good reaction, keep going. 🇬🇧🇫🇴🇬🇧🇫🇴🇬🇧👍❤️❤️
RENaissance Bardcore at its finest. Nobody else can do this.😊❤
I would definitely recommend his two songs called Chalk Outlines & How to be with Chinchilla 🙌💚
Chalk Outlines will be up soon.
@@SwiftReactions will look out for the reaction can’t wait 🥰🥰
You caught Violet was his mum as Violet's Tale started!! OMG
Yeah but I was still so wrong. I thought his mum was identifying him or something.
I'm sure there's tons of suggestions to watch next id go with some happy music ...his love music 1 to 4 be a nice change for you
Yep. Chalk Outlines, Live with Chinchilla.
Coming very soon ...
Great reaction, Swift! A very dark and sad tale, but unfortunately, the cycle of multi-generational poverty and violence is all too common.
Ren is a modern day Bard. Ren calls it Bardcore!
Ren's triology is based on a true story.
Jenny and Screech were born and died on the same day as each other laying side by side ….
IIUC, he heard a news story about a boy stabbing a girl before getting killed himself nearby and an official commenting to the press on the circumstances of the incident allegedly remarked: 'It's such a shame' - and like yourself Ren thought this to be the Understatement of the Age
1 of my favourite ❤
Any Ren and/Chinchilla.
Very sweet reaction. Would love to see you react to Harry Mack Omegle Bars 18. Ren and Harry Mack are highly trending on RUclips.
Cheers. Can you send me a link for it? I'm not sure if I am finding the right one.
I'M LOVING ❤️ THIS JOURNEY WITH YOU!
Can't wait until you get to Tom MacDonald.
Tom MacDonald...send me which song you want!
It's kinda turning into a voting system at this point so keep your requests coming no matter how many times others have suggested them. REN is amazing, plenty more to come. Cheers from Oz 👍🍻🇦🇺
I am committing one of the 7 deadly sins at the moment..---'Envy', as I am so jealous of you being at the early stages of discovering the enormous catalogue of.. .. well, you will find out for yourself

Narrator mode stops us hating him. Just an amazing bard. Imagine a full first hand experience of this. Cancelled
Ren Is a pure genius
Lurving the Ren love!
There is plenty of REN love at Swift Reactions!
Dear lady, with this reaction, very similar to mine, by emotionality and authenticity, I have fallen in love with you. A hug
Lol. I'm glad you enjoyed my reaction. A big hello from Oz👋🇦🇺🍻
@@SwiftReactions Wow, I don't know Australia yet, now all the more reason I'll have to go one day... A big shout out from a Chilean with very little English from Zurich, Switzerland. Oh, and if possible, a kiss too.
Australia is an awesome place. I'm sure you would enjoy it. Thanks Robert 🍻
