Hey homie! I have absolutely 0% experience in this kind of repair, I just ordered the tools to do this, I’ll update after with the results, but if i succeed I will subscribe immediately as a testament to your incredible step by step instructions
@@AZ-ql6nz if it was anything like my first attempt he fucked up somewhere and ruined the pins and leads to those pins lol. But I too would like an update on this fix to hear that a first timer succeeded!!!
If you want a 100% sure fix, Just avoid using heat gun to solder the new HDMI port. It's NOT necessary at all, and there Is a huge chance to damage It since the pins are literally sitting on plastic!
CAUTION........There are small components on the motherboard near where the hdmi socket is mounted, particularly on the underside....These can be loosed, fall off or became damaged by hot air, when removing or replacing the socket..☹ Best cover all the relevant components in that area with Alfoil or some form of heat shielding.😀.
Amazingly simple video to follow. Unfortunately I may have bit off more than I can chew but if I fixed the rrod on a Xbox I'm sure I can do this. Plus I already spent €5.63 on Ali express for a HDMI port shipping incl so yeeeeah I'll give it a go.....
Going to have to try this out, I also have a slim which I much prefer for various reasons but I could really use the old PS4 since it has an old firmware on it due to not being usable for a few years
Thanks for the video, I was able to successfully change the HDMI port. The only problem now is that the console no longer recognizes a controller. This was not the case before. I've tried 20 different cables and different controllers and even a new one from Amazon, nothing helps. Funnily enough, I can connect the controller via USB cable when the PS4 is in security mode. Repairing the database etc. didn't solve the problem either, when I try to reinstall the firmware via USB, I get the error message "SU-41283-8". Does anyone have any idea what I can do?
tecnically yes, practically no cuz trying to use a solid core solder without flux will result in a practically useless joint. The solder will not cling to the surfaces and the oxides will break away causing the joint to fail.
Hi Craven, We use a few tools. One is a soldering iron. Feel free to check out our course profixerr.com/ps4-microsoldering-course Everything you need to know how to easily and effectively replace the HDMI on a PS4 is there.
@@michaelramirez3469 no but you might could get away with using an adjustable heatgun from your local tool store provide it can be adjusted down to around 420 degrees Fahrenheit and comes with some reducer tips so can control the hot air output area a little better.
I replaced an HDMI port for someone. They told me they moved it from one TV to the next and it didn't connect to the other TV. Port was damaged, etc etc I replaced it. I get to the logo just fine, then it starts to flicker and lose signal. Any ideas?
Major respect for pulling that repair off with an FX888D. Heat transfer on them is bloody awful, upgrading to a FX951 was the best thing I ever did. Nice strategy using hot air under the board. That'll be useful for clearing the solder holes when replacing the harddrive connector on the PS2 motherboard, clearing the solder holes on them is a nightmare.
Use hot air along with your iron when soldering the legs down on the back of the board and it'll flow right on through the ground leg holes so you won't have to solder then from the top. Alot cleaner job that way.
@@rhussain3658 For heatgun maybe a Quick 861DW (Louis Rossmann likes that one), or maybe a good one. They are not that expensive, and this port is not designed to be removed with just a soldering iron. Then again, you can't swim without getting wet, so yeah.
i am trying to fix the hdmi port on an old samsung lcd tv so i cleaned the old solder joints with a solder wick the pins are clean however when i try to solder it back i always end up with a bridge no matter what and i am using a big iron tip just like yours and the placement of the hdmi makes it difficult to get the job done correctly compared to the ps4
thank you all for the advices, I've already tried all of these things but i think a smaller tip is more suitable for this kind of work since the placement of the hdmi makes it difficult to achieve such fine work, I've seen people trying to fix their tv's hdmi using temporary solutions like heat gun or puting the board in the oven but since i am using this old tv parts for practicing i haven't tried any of these methods and wanted to work on my soldering skills instead
Hello guys how is everyone doing So yesterday I got ps4 with broken hdmi port I replaced the hdmi port with new 1 and double checked the pins and they are melted and it's good so I turned on the console boots into 480p it works fine but when I use the 1080p it starts with broken screen and something like that so then I replaced the port again with 6 ports the same problem the ps4 won't display on 1080p just 480p anyone knows the problem please help
Tried it about 20 times. Never worked. Either legs get stuck to the solder iron's tip and get bent or rip off. After this of cours about half of the legs are shorted, while the other half isn't soldered at all. Trying to shave of some of the solder from wher it is too much never works, because the hot solder iron just slips through the liquid solder, without pulling any solder with. Everytime. Never better.
@@Mattia_22 Thank you. What would make for a better solder? Do you have examples? And is there an affordable alternative to this super expensive Amtech flux that everyone uses?
