Thank you so much for making this video! I’m 60 years old and by no means a tech person but could follow your instructions (granted, I had to listen over and over) and was able to complete transferring all my music!
I’m sure you get tired of hearing this, but thank you so much for guiding us through these steps. Never to old to learn new skills when we have people like you willing to teach us. Have a wonderful day ❣️🥰
THANK YOU!! I just followed your video and I finally was able to get my music off my old ipod to my new one. I can't believe how hard apple makes it to transfer music. You absolutely saved me time and money.
Thank you brother!! I'm an old school hip hop head and I had some classics on my old iPod and I thought I was going to have to pull out the CDs and buy the music for the second time. Thanks again!!
I am very grateful to you! Because of this video. you helped me saved 3,000+ songs from my 2007 1st-gen iPod Video (with its battery deteriorating) to my new iPad. Thank you very much!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!! I just got 1209 songs from my boyfriends iPod nano to my iPhone!!!!! And for free!!! didn't have to pay like other tutorials teach!!! you're one of my favorite people in the world now!!!!
Thank you!!! Great instructions. I was able to get files I really wanted & needed off a very old iPod and onto my iPhone by following your video. Would not have been able to do it without you!
Agreed!!! i've been working on this for hours! I've watched 10 different videos and have read every apple help tutorial available. You've solved the problem in 3 easy steps. Way to go.
Just a shout out echoing ALL the other comments....saved me from losing all the classic music on my slowly dying Nano. I'm a 60+ yr old runner and i use my Nano and shuffle daily and most songs on them came off CD's......Cant just burn CD's these days and this tutorial was quick, easy and accurate. THANKS! my I tunes library now has all the good ol CD songs saved before they were lost in space. Now i will save the songs on my Shuffle and transfer all to my Ipod Touch 🙂
Dear Wedz, thank you so much for this great video, instructional vide. I took me like two hours trying to transfer my tunes from my old ipod to my new one and i could not, so finally went to youtube and found your great video, i was able to transfer all my tunes. thank you , you make people happy.
worked really well besides the fact you have to add each song seperately to music folder within itunes. 450 songs took me awhile, but well worth it to get all my oldies
Dude, if I could find you, I would kiss you! You have NO IDEA how much stress, aggravation, and trouble you saved me with this video! Your instructions were clear and easy to follow, and it worked the first time. I spent HOURS trying to figure this out, and was ready to either buy a program that would help me do this, or re-purchase all the songs in question - no inexpensive feat! I only wish I'd found your video before I tried to figure it out on my own ... it would have saved me my blood pressure! As an aside - Apple should be absolutely ashamed of themselves for making it so difficult. Why should I jump thru so many hoops to access the music I've already paid for? Utterly ridiculous, which is why I'll never own an Apple product, other than my trusty iPod.
I'm glad this helps, thx for the kind words, much appreciated. Ipod is the only thing I own from apple, but my whole family is all about the iphone, not me. I'll stick to android, and I have apple music on my android phone cuz my family has the service, but besides the ipod I don't think I will ever own apple products. Thx again friend!
Absolutely AMAZING....this worked! Thanks so much for such a well laid out path on how to do this. I did not want to install any software and you showed me how it can be done as it. You rock my friend!
Hi, tried to follow your instructions but when I plug my iPod in it says DCIM and only shows pictures. I checked the file name ext and hidden item. Ideas on finding my music?
I would say try to restart the computer with the ipod plugged in and see if your folders show, also sometimes you might need to turn off the ipod and turn it back on to refresh all your folders.
This definitely worked for me!! Thanks so much!! I bought a new Apple Nano Mini Touch for my mother for Christmas! Her other one just died after almost 10 years!! I am putting all her old favorite songs on her new device so it will be ready for her!! And at first I didn’t see the iTunes Control option but I finally saw that I was in PC pictures. Once I selected PC and iTunes I saw it. Maybe that happened to others that didn’t see it. But thanks again!! ☺️☺️
Thank you very much! I've have the IPOD Nano 2nd Gen for years and of course the battery died along with all of my music. I traded a golf club for a IPOD Nano 4th Gen brand new (almost) in the case. Of course the battery was dead. So, I sent it to a dude in Georgia to get a battery installed. Got it back and connected both to itunes. I could not drag and drop my old songs to my new IPOD even when I signed in and authorized my computer. Yep, your right. Apple does not make it easy to transfer songs. Your video has been a great help!!!
People helping people ❤ we need more of this in the world. I love Apple. Been rockin with them since '84. but i dont like the way they "force" you to remain in their ecosystem. Thank you for doing this tutorial.
Thx for the kind words my friend, much appreciated! Though I like them too, now I use apple music on my android lol...because of the same reason; but, I like that they allow me to use their service on my android device.
Im about to attempt the music transfer from nano gen 4 ipod ..to a new i pod ,maybe the same again ..sick of having a phone with me in the gym . .hope its easy ..will let u know how it goes
I want to say THANK YOU for your video on how to transfer music from ipod to ipod. I did this and transferred my old ipod music from my computer to my Itunes library. Thanks again. A++++++++++++++++
Not all of them did when I transferred mine, but most of them did. There were a few that showed up a 4 letter indication. I think they were probably songs with the wrong names or something.
Thank you for posting this tutorial. I have 3 old iPods and had given up trying to copy my old music into one folder on my pc. At last! Much appreciated❤️❤️
Yoooo good lookin out. If you're gettin stuck on the part where the logo appears then disappears quickly, leave the device plugged in then restart your computer. when it boots back up you should see it pop up on the desktop. open it up then click ( control, shift, period at the same time) after that you'll see the folder "ipod controls" open that and you'll see"music" right click, copy then paste to your new music file! Once again thanks for the tutorial, I was one of the many people in the comments section that kept getting stuck on the disappearing icon part. With the help of another video I was able to put the 2 together and find a solution.
Hi reply when you see this please my dad has a iPod nano 3rd generation and we wanna transfer the songs onto something before it breaks because the button broke and we don’t know his old ITunes do we need the old log in if so how can we go around it
You can try to use a different download of itunes, they're still out there, It will be just like having a new computer, where it asks you to download itunes. Just try that and see. As far as my experience, you should not need a password for the old ipod, unless you linked it up to the cloud. What happens if you plug it to the computer? does the computer recognize it? You basically need to plug it to the computer and use it as a plug and play device. if the computer can recognize it you should be able to get the files from it. hopefully, you get this resolved, otherwise you might have to try one those paid service to get it done, I know some of them are not too expensive, but this might be the only choice if you can afford it. Sorry I am not that much help.
This help because it made me remember that I had the files on my computer still for the 43 songs that I have and I’m gonna put 100 of my dad’s cd song that he has on it maybe
This was working great for me and I was in the process of transferring my music when I suddenly got a message saying that my OneDrive didn't have enough storage space. Odd thing is... I do not use OneDrive. And 16 of the 45 files that I had on my old iPod would not transfer over. That ends up being about 200 songs. Do you know of a way to turn those red x circles into green check mark circles? Thanks for your video.
Sorry to hear that my friend. I would say try to copy the folder on an external drive and see if you can transfer them from the external drive that way
Excited to find this! I have an old ipad I need to get some music from. I assume theres no way to transfer playlists? I would need to go through everything and re make them?
I had to remake my playlist and some of the song names didn't transfer but everything was transferred in my case! Thanks for stopping by my friend, I hope this works for you!
I already had all my songs saved on a flash drive. Can I use the songs saved on my flash drive or do I still need to create a new folder? I also could not find my music on my computer when I plugged in my ipod. My only option is to use the music on my flash drive and transfer it to the new folder.
a lot of time if you restart the computer with the ipod plugged in it often shows your music. as far as the music on the flash drive, you can definitely move use the songs from there and move then to your itune just like you would transfer from cd.
In file explorer, when I click on my old device, the only option I get is "internal storage," even after making the changes in the View tab. I'm not getting the "ipod control" option. Any workaround for this?
Try to to unplug the ipod, then plug it back in, then restart the computer. Also make sure to use the original ipod cable because 3rd part cable sometimes has issues synching the ipod to the computer. That works sometimes, hopefully this helps in your case too.
Thank you, however my old iPad is dead. I purchased a new one. All my music and stuff is on my computer. My husband gave me his iPod. I listen to audio books downloaded from library. I cannot get new ipod to be recognized by my computer. I've downloaded books but can't get them to transfer. I will update my iTunes as I haven't done that in a while. I have a Windows Machine (ver 11) running Google Chrome 64 bit. Thank you in advance with any help you can give.
I hope it works out for you my friend. One thing you can do is to make sure you're using an original apple cord, the third-party ones sometimes don't want to recognize the device. Also, reboot your computer while the ipod is plugged in in the computer sometimes work to help the computer recognize the device. if all else fails, there's a program called imazing you can use, but it costs $60. I made a video about it on the channel, that's the last resort. Good luck my friend, and thanks for your feedback!
Really looked promising but did not work for me as when I check the file name extension and hidden files. The only folder that comes up is DCIM with nothing in it. Will not show the other file that is shown in video, so frustrating.
sorry to hear that. Try to restart your computer with the ipod plugged in and make sure you're using an original ipod cord because some of the third party ones don't always sync
Sorry to hear that. are you having issues seeing the ipod contents from your computer? I asked cuz that's one of the issues I had before I went to the view menu.
@@olgabautista8341 did you make sure to check the boxes "hidden items and file name extension to reveal the ipod control option? If checking those boxes does not work I'm sorry
@@WEDZGAMING it worked !!! All I needed to do was get the songs off my old 16gb ipod into my computer, I had to do it in small sections , it was an old , not even touch screen , ipod and all my music collection, was on there, I watched this video and a few other videos, this is the 1 that worked for me, all the other videos on yt , that are about this same thing, try to sell you or get you to download an app , this guy is legit, he tells you how you can do it for free, just make sure , you do it in small sections , keep track of the file numbers as you go !!! Dont try to take all the music off thd ipod all at 1nce , unless you don't have too much on there, I had almost 3,000 songs recovered bc of this video !!!! Thanks
I had the latest ipod touch when I made this vid, and it worked fine; so i'm not sure about the 4th generation one. Also, I'm not sure what issues you might be having; but, I would say make sure you use the original sync cable for ipod, sometimes sometimes, other cables seem to not syncing for some reasons, at least in my experience that was one of the hiccups. Other than that, I think there are some programs that you might have to pay to get this done, I don't know how much, but it's out there. That's why I made this vid because I didn't want to pay for those programs, but if nothing works, that might be an option to consider unfortunately.
You should be able to copy to an external drive, but I am not sure if you can transfer them from the external drive to your new ipod. I guess you can always try.
Unfortunately even though I transferred all my music off my nano, only half of the song titles transferred, and the other half of the music “the file can’t be found” shows up when it was uploaded to my itunes. Suppose it’s better than starting from scratch.
make sure you are using an original ipod cable, if you have the right cable and follow the steps that I show you should be able to see ever eveything not just DCIM. Also try to restart your computer while the ipod is plugged in to your computer that sometimes works
they fall under movies, at least for when i was looking for my videos, they were under movies. As long as you transfer everything they should be there, you might have to check different folders depend on how you originally organized your files and folder in your old ipod
probably a synching issue, try to umplug the cord and plug it back in and restart the computer and see if that helps. Thx for the feedback, hopefully you got it figured out soon.
I have a question. I purchased a 5.5gen iPod from a local flea Market. The previous owner left a ton of music on it, near 30gb worth. I was wondering if there was a way to copy or transfer all of that music to my Mac or pc before I reset it and place my own music on to the device . if there is anyone out there in the wild that can help me I would greatly appreciate it.
If the process I show in the vid did not work I'm not sure, hopefully someone might know, otherwise there are some other software that wants you to pay a fee to be able to do it.
I'm trying to upload music from a 2006 iPod to a new M1. It's not even acknowledging my iPod, no devices reading. Any ideas of how to fix it? Or is it gone for good? I know you can only upload from an iPod three times or that's how it used to be.
a lot of people reports performance issues with monterey, that might be the issue. if you can't get it to work with montery, you might consider uninstall monterey, download itunes, then reinstall monterey, just a suggestion
@@WEDZGAMING thank you for taking the time to reply. I’m not sure that just uninstalling Monterey will work as it requires a much earlier version than even Monterey to be able to download iTunes. I’ve called in a tech expert to help me as I’m not proficient enough. Mac never make things easy! Thank you again! 😊
most often if you didn't buy something from itunes it won't recognize the name of the song and tor you might have to make sure you have the latest software. other than that I'm not completely sure why it's doing that, sorry my friend!
If you're talking about apple music, I'm not sure that's possible because it's mainly based on the cloud system. Sorry about the dilemma, the other option to transfer your music might be to use one of those paid services if worst come to worst. Sorry about that my friend!
Unfortunately i cannot find the files in my ipod. My ipod has 5000 songs on it, and the only files I can find are 3 pictures that don't even exist (screenshots of main screen.) Any other advice?
Sorry to hear that. I would say, make sure you're using an original ipod apple cable because sometimes 3rd party cables don't sync in the right way. Other than that, you can also try to plug the ipod in, and while it's plugged in, restart your pc, then try to go to the process of finding the files and make sure the hidden box is unchecked in order for you to see the files or if it's already unchecked, just check it and uncheck it. That sometimes works, but if all else fails, the only other option is to pay for one of those services that can transfer your music from an old ipod to a new one. I know that's horrible, but that's the last resort I can think of my friend. Again, sorry for your trouble, I hope you find a solution soon. Thanks for the feedback my friend!
Sometimes, If you restart the computer with the ipod plugged in, it tends to show, or perhaps you might need to make sure it's the original ipod chord, 3 party chords sometimes have issues synching
try to restart your pc while the ipod is plugged in. Also make sure it's one of the original ipod cable because sometimes the 3rd party ones refuse to sync with pc.
it all depends, some itune songs will update automatically and some won't when you log it to the interface. There's an option in the library to GET TRACK NAMES, you might want to try that and see if that helps
My old iPod does not show up as a separate drive as it does on your file explorer screen. It only shows as Apple iPod and the only subfolder under it is Internal Storage
you can still get iTunes from the apple sites or microsoft, otherwise you can use the software called imazing, but it costs about 60 bucks. There are cheaper option you can find if you google. I hope you find a solution soon my friend, thx for stopping by!
probably try a different cord, is it the original apple cord or a third party? Sometimes, the 3rd party cords don't sync right, and sometimes they don't even show anything. One thing you can do, if you have the right cord, is to keep it plugged in to the computer, then restart the computer to see if that works!
hi i'm following your instruction as I'm 53 year old and it was going great until, i open my ipod like you said but still the files are hidden, i ticked the boxes that you said but still nothing appears, please help.
Sorry to hear that my friend, sometimes if you might have to restart your computer while ipod is plugged in and make sure the cord is plugged to powered usb port from your computer. Some ports don't always have enough power to recognize some devices. That's the only think of, hopefully this solves it, if not i'm sorry.
give it a try, as long as you can see the ipod drive from your pc you'll be able to do it because once you plug the ipod to your computer you don't need to mess with the the screen.

a lot of time if you restart the computer with the ipod plugged in it often shows your music. as far as the music on the flash drive, you can definitely move use the songs from there and move then to your itune just like you would transfer from cd.
@@WEDZGAMING the music still doesn’t show up unfortunately, maybe it’s my itouch
brillient! explained in the best way
thx my friend!
I followed everything you noted, including unhiding files. Under ipod control it doesn't show any options except device and tones. Any suggestions?
try to unplug the ipod, then plug it back in, then restart the computer while the ipod is still plugged in and see if that helps.
@@WEDZGAMING ok
MERCI BEAUCOUP!!! So grateful to you, Wedz!👍🏼
Pas de probleme mon ami(e), thanks for watching much appreciated!
@@WEDZGAMING thank you so much!
Is it right that this method doesn’t work for Artwork (Album covers etc.)?
In mine, the only artwork that show up are the one I bought from the apple store, probably because they sync with my cloud account
@@WEDZGAMING Thank you for your reply. I have the original cord. But will try again using your advice.
Any idea if it will transfer your old playlists as well ?
As long as you copy it to the pc like I showed it will transfer old or new. Some people report it doesn't transfer the art work though
looks like a great walk through. However I tried this with an iPod touch 4th gen and I can not get it to work
Sorry to hear that. are you having issues seeing the ipod contents from your computer? I asked cuz that's one of the issues I had before I went to the view menu.
@@olgabautista8341 did you make sure to check the boxes "hidden items and file name extension to reveal the ipod control option? If checking those boxes does not work I'm sorry
This is complicated , but its kinda working so far 😀 thank you
Much appreciated my friend!
Thanks
Has this work for anyone's touch 4th gen from 2011-2012?? Iv been having issues
That's why I made this vid because I didn't want to pay for those programs, but if nothing works, that might be an option to consider unfortunately.
what issues? The folders only showing dcim for example?
Very helpful and thank you very much!!
You're welcome!
Trying this now i have 6400 songs but i was wondering csn i select sll f number folders and paste to external hard drive
Suppose it’s better than starting from scratch.
sorry to hear my friend, transferring the titles are kind finicky, I had the same issues for some of my transfers

Thank you
I can't thank you enough my friend!
Why when opening ipod folder I only see DCIM folder. I have ipod touch 12.
make sure you are using an original ipod cable, if you have the right cable and follow the steps that I show you should be able to see ever eveything not just DCIM. Also try to restart your computer while the ipod is plugged in to your computer that sometimes works
What if you have movies on your old ipod how do you transfer them ? what peripheral option do they appear in ?
they fall under movies, at least for when i was looking for my videos, they were under movies. As long as you transfer everything they should be there, you might have to check different folders depend on how you originally organized your files and folder in your old ipod
This is was the best simplest one for me …..got half way but couldn’t add file to library so I’m doing sumfin wrong but what ?regards
probably a synching issue, try to umplug the cord and plug it back in and restart the computer and see if that helps. Thx for the feedback, hopefully you got it figured out soon.
great vid appreciate it mate!
Thank you go all my old music back for
Years ago!
I am glad this helps, thanks for your feedback my friend!
This was just perfect! Thank you!!!
does it transfer unpurchased mp3s as well?
it should transfer everything
I was able to copy all my music but when I go to my folder the paste option is dark. Tried one song then all NG
Try control v to see if that works
I'm trying to upload music from a 2006 iPod to a new M1. It's not even acknowledging my iPod, no devices reading. Any ideas of how to fix it? Or is it gone for good? I know you can only upload from an iPod three times or that's how it used to be.
i'd say, try to keep the device plugged in while you restart the computer, or try another cable or another usb port from the computer.
Thank you! Worked perfectly for me. I am grateful for your knowledge!
Thanks so much for the kind words, I am glad it worked!
I have Monterey running on my Mac and it won’t let me download iTunes. Is there any way around this?
a lot of people reports performance issues with monterey, that might be the issue. if you can't get it to work with montery, you might consider uninstall monterey, download itunes, then reinstall monterey, just a suggestion
when i get it to ituns it still keeps the wired lettring still stayes , how to change the name of song back to normel?
most often if you didn't buy something from itunes it won't recognize the name of the song and tor you might have to make sure you have the latest software. other than that I'm not completely sure why it's doing that, sorry my friend!
@@WEDZGAMING thank it helped.😉
Thak you so much. I'm not that tech savvy but I'm definitely going to give it a try.
Thanks my friend, I hope it works for you!
@@WEDZGAMING You're welcome. Are you on Instagram
I can’t thank you enough!! ❤️❤️
np my friend! Thanks for watching!
My ipod has 1000+ songs on it and only the DCIM folder shows and reads as empty!!! Also have hidden folders enabled so not sure what to do next....
my friend, I would say try to restart your computer with the ipod hooked up to and try the process again and see if it shows.
For some reason when I click on my ipod the only file that comes out is the dcim folder
the files are hidden, you have to unhide them like I show in the video, that might have been one of my issues before I unhide the files.
I have the same issue with unhidden files and file extensions shown
very good info bro needed this!
Thanks brother, much appreciated!
Very good but then had to search for 'HOW TO GET MUSIC FROM ITUNES TO IPHONE.' HU HUM!
Nothing is ever easy.
(you still get a well deserved thumbs up)
Thx so much my friend, appreciate the feedback!
How can I do this using "music" ? It doesn't have the preferences option when I open it..
If you're talking about apple music, I'm not sure that's possible because it's mainly based on the cloud system. Sorry about the dilemma, the other option to transfer your music might be to use one of those paid services if worst come to worst. Sorry about that my friend!
amazing! thank you
Unfortunately i cannot find the files in my ipod.
I can't find the iPod control folder even after clicking the show hidden files button. Any help?
Sometimes, If you restart the computer with the ipod plugged in, it tends to show, or perhaps you might need to make sure it's the original ipod chord, 3 party chords sometimes have issues synching
@@WEDZGAMING I'll give this a try, thanks.
when i select unhide dcim still only shows up
i'd say make sure you don't miss any step because everything should be available under the view tab
when i plug my ipod touch in and go to internal storage it has a dcim folder with nothing in it.
try to restart your pc while the ipod is plugged in. Also make sure it's one of the original ipod cable because sometimes the 3rd party ones refuse to sync with pc.
Thanks, but do i really gotta rename every single song?
it all depends, some itune songs will update automatically and some won't when you log it to the interface. There's an option in the library to GET TRACK NAMES, you might want to try that and see if that helps
My old iPod does not show up as a separate drive as it does on your file explorer screen. It only shows as Apple iPod and the only subfolder under it is Internal Storage
Ah I see the problem is Windows 10
When I plug my old iPod into my iPad nothing shows up at all. I don’t have computer. Will it not transfer straight to iPad?
apple didn't want to make things easy, so I don't think it's possible to do it without a pc
Thank you so much for that
no problem my friend!
now that itunes is no longer available .. how to I transfer from one ipod to another in apple music
you can still get iTunes from the apple sites or microsoft, otherwise you can use the software called imazing, but it costs about 60 bucks. There are cheaper option you can find if you google. I hope you find a solution soon my friend, thx for stopping by!
my ipod only shows dcim folder
do you know whats going on
probably try a different cord, is it the original apple cord or a third party? Sometimes, the 3rd party cords don't sync right, and sometimes they don't even show anything. One thing you can do, if you have the right cord, is to keep it plugged in to the computer, then restart the computer to see if that works!
ive followed all thes steps and I see hidden files in other folders but no ipod control comes up?
check to make sure the ipod is plugged in into a powered usb port on your computer. Does it your computer recognize your ipod at all?
amazing video dear friend💛❤️❤️💝🤗🤗
Thanks so much brother!
hi i'm following your instruction as I'm 53 year old and it was going great until, i open my ipod like you said but still the files are hidden, i ticked the boxes that you said but still nothing appears, please help.
Sorry to hear that my friend, sometimes if you might have to restart your computer while ipod is plugged in and make sure the cord is plugged to powered usb port from your computer. Some ports don't always have enough power to recognize some devices. That's the only think of, hopefully this solves it, if not i'm sorry.
great video dear friend💛🤗❤️🤗❤️
Thx my friend!
I got the old harddrive out my old 164gb ipod, can my music be recovered?
I'd say try the steps i show in the vid and see if it works for you
Do you think I can do this with my iPod screen cracked and not able to put the password?
give it a try, as long as you can see the ipod drive from your pc you'll be able to do it because once you plug the ipod to your computer you don't need to mess with the the screen.
@@WEDZGAMING giving it a try but my iTunes on my iMac doesn’t read my iPod. Sad 😭
