A level crossing with loud alarms located on the busy A217, one of the main routes through the Surrey town of Reigate at the foot of the North Downs. It is located 0.3 miles from the town centre next to Reigate Station, where the third rail electrification from Redhill ends and the line becomes un-electrified until it reaches Shalford Junction. This level crossing is still controlled by the adjacent signal box to the day of recording, and has near-30-year-old barrier motors and alarms. A station sign with rather faded Network South East stripes can be seen in one of the corners of this level crossing, and a footbridge here allows pedestrians to safely bypass the lowered barriers, and this also gives excellent clear views into the station. These videos filmed back in July 2021 feature three lowerings and four local services, and they also feature the original (from the 1990s installation) and best alarm sound combination.
