I’ve been saying this for quite a while. The guru program needs to be disbanded. There’s no reason for the community to have access to game devs in this manner. It just creates problems. The community thinks that the gurus are their friends, and they can speak to them like they’re on a familiar basis.

There is a huge difference between harassment and voicing your concerns and giving constructive criticism, and a lot of people in the community need to learn that. I seriously cannot stand people who try to disguise their harassment as criticism or even a "joke". I think there is disrespectful individuals and i think there are people with actual criticisms. Never the less, Harassing people is NEVER ok. The sims team know exactly what they're doing and they keep doing it anyway, they're throwing gas on the fire with every decision they make to cut content for their audience so it should be no surprise that it is driving their customers into a fury. There hasn't been a single pack since vampires that didn't have a MAJOR drawback or letdown, most of them only coming out after release. The sims team may not deserve harassment but they should not in any way be surprised by it.

There’s so excuse for harassment but I definitely see the frustration.
It was 100% an excuse, there has been more than one time he and other SimGuru’s have made excuses for cutting content. It’s a constant problem. The trees are mostly green year-round in Ravenwood and doesn’t look autumn but more so summer which is the base-game season. We are tired of the development team cutting corners and making excuses for it, sorry. Even though it might not be Maxis, it may be budget constraints from EA and they had no choice etc. We just don’t know, but we pay A LOT of money for these packs and we are tired of being used for our money, from EA or Maxis!!

      @andyv2209 22 дня назад +12

When a mod creator can create what they left out in the time between the release and now, it is absolutely not a budget problem. They're straight cutting corners doing the bare minimum to get the pack to sell as much at release until the bad news comes out, and it always does. Since vampires there's not been one solid pack. I thought this might be the one but no, major corners cut, now it makes sense why it seemed more fleshed out than other packs. They had to cut something. Who ever is deciding their deadlines and pack content limits needs to be fired yesterday.

Komorebi, it will be hot in the summer. Not having seasons affect Ravenwood and claiming it's because the world is frozen in time feels a bit lazy to me. Death threats and abuse over anything are insane. Nobody deserves that.
Even though it started with snow, a lot of the criticism wasn't just about snow. The snow discourse just got pulled into the complaints about the autumn SimGuruNinja mentioned being non existant in the game itself
Because when we have a guru telling us that they made a creative choice to have the world in permanent autumn and then we actually see the world and over half of it is stuck in perpetual spring/summer, then people are going to have questions and criticism regarding what we've been told and how it doesnt match up with what we're seeing in game.
The world is clearly unfinished, to me. There's leaf fall underneath trees that dont show any stage of autumnal progression or transition.
And when we have a guru telling us that the spring/summer we're seeing is actually autumn, then of course simmers are going to feel they're being taken for fools and lied to
Like if you tell me you've got a pumpkin for me, offer me an orange and then try to tell me that orange is a pumpkin then I'm not going to be happy, am I?
Because at that point, it's either devs not knowing what the game they've created even looks like by the time it goes to release or an outright lie/excuse and neither one inspires confidence
The gurus have promised transparency going forward but where was the transparency in trying to convince us all the world we got in game is an autumn one instead of just being straight with us about any mistakes, restrictions etc that stopped them from following through on what they're claiming the world is supposed to be?

    • @SuperSimmerGal
      @SuperSimmerGal 9 дней назад

They can only be as transparent as EA allows them to, though. And I wonder what would have happened if someone had simply asked SimGuruNinja respectfully why not all of the world actually appears to be in autumn. Who knows, maybe he would have shed more light on the situation.

the sim gurus seem to forget that this is a SANDBOX game, if their reason for no weather in this particular world is by creative design whatever, but it just sounds like an excuse to put as minimal effort as possible, we as the player should be able to control the weather how we see fit, if we don’t want weather in that particular world, then we should be able to turn it on and off if we want, I just don’t believe not making certain things options for the player and then using the guise of “creative decision” to just be lazy, it’s so asinine to me, the sims 2’s weather feature literally made it so we can make it all one season, half a season or another half season or mix and match seasons, we’re in 2024, there’s no reason why the sims 4 doesn’t have options like that

Just came back to say, the modder I mentioned received death threats (and showed proof). And these people were attacking him in the name of SimGuruNinja
So now I saw more harassment and bullying done in his name, than done towards him. Anyone gonna highlight this? Anyone gonna acknowledge that the rumor mill and hysteria that was whipped up didn't help? People were too busy being angry and repeating what they heard from others, and here we are.
Dave deactivates literally every time his pack gets crit. That wasn't news. But people assumed that there must've been something horrible, and away they went.
And I asked several people for the recipts, I tried to be accepting of new info. No one saw anything, they just heard about it. Or , like what they've done in the modder's case, they've overblown things.
I'm even seeing people blame The Henford Hen now. And meanwhile he was SO nice and polite. All he did was display mild dissatisfaction.
This is why I wanted the receipts, this is why we needed to know if anything was actually happening first.
And btw, the fact that they had to aim for CBXSims almost proves that nothing happened. Because why was he enemy number one for making a cheeky EA lazy joke, when allegedly people were sending SimGuruNinja death threats and actual harassment?
From my perspective. It looks like the fandom wanted to blame someone - ANYONE for Dave deactivating. It had to be serious threats to his life, because what else could it be. Couldn't be that he simply couldn't take criticism. Nooo, that's not dramatic enough.
And yes, I'm actually very upset. Because the same fandom that treats not liking a pack well enough, as bullying The people who see "I don't like that decision, it feels like corners have been cut" as vicious harassment. Has thought it reasonable to tell a person to a person to off themselves.

@Moss_piglet13 I get that its good that it didn't introduce new bugs but that should be a standard for every released pack. They didn't introduce new bugs but it shouldn't be a trade off of bugs or a full pack. They didn't do something good, they did something they should always do but in order to do it they again cut content that should have been included. You can't call that a win. You can say 'finally we at least got a half assed pack that doesn't break the game but it still sucks that its half complete.' Doing something that's expected of you doesn't make up for not doing something else that's expected of you. It's like the creators are going through each pack and picking out at least one major feature each to cut out or save for a later pack. Cutting out things that simmers wont notice in trailers, they won't notice until a few hours of play time. Its not right and excusing them just because they did something they should be doing anyway is telling them that we are ok with chopped out features and lackluster shells of packs and content. And yes it it's the first non-vacation world that does not have proper designated seasons that match the location theyre based on. And i didn't say they should be harassed. Just they they should absolutely expect harassment when they make decisions like this, sneaky decisions to cut things that people won't realize until theyve made the biggest chunk of their sales. They dangle something we want in front of our eyes to distract us just long enough to get their money, then we find the skeletons in the closets after actually playing the packs. There's always a large drawback. This time, it wasnt bugs, it was something else, but it was still something. There's always something. And that's why people are getting so incensed. They know what they're doing and they keep doing it because they get away with it because people defend them like you are, for giving us an almost complete pack when usually they give us an almost complete and half broken pack. Give us a complete and non-broken pack for once. They haven't since 2017. Its not going to get better, the fans are not going to get happier until they release something without cut corners. Also why did you like your own comment?

    • @andyv2209
      @andyv2209 22 дня назад +2

its not about the snow itself, they could have very well made a world that makes sense to not have ground snow during winter without weather manipulation, but no, they didnt add any seasons at all, to an entire world. the problem with 'dont like it dont buy it' is that, there are things in the pack that are likable enough to buy it, and there are things that a customer should be able to expect when they have paid for the seasons expansion pack, and that is for it to apply seasons to all new worlds. disliking one feature of a game and sharing your critique isnt a big enough reason to not buy a product that will add to your game experience. when a company is taking advantage of your money and sneakily removing expected features to maximize profit, that is worthy of criticism. you dont have to be in love with every aspect of something to want to buy it. you dont have to hate the sims team to criticize their decisions.

The misplace weird explosive drama they're always bringing up as a community is annoying.
I choose to rag on the game because i don't like it nor am i playing or paying for it, id love to love it but i don't because i loved the past games and wish this game could put in the same amount of creativity and quality and a lot of stuff in sims 4's content genuinely bug me. I can't wrap my head around other people supposedly liking the game but have so much negative things to say about it all the time, they pay literal hundreds to over a thousand $$$ on it while consistently having something negative to say about it..... If they dislike it so much then why do they keep buying into it? This isn't even a bugs and glitches problem, it's a creative decision and even that they have a problem with, that's not them saying they love the game but think it has problems that need fixing like glitches for example, that's them saying they're going to complain about the game REGARDLESS of what's happening in it, so why the hell are they still buying it?!

No one deserves death threats, no one deserves the insane amount of harassment modders and Gurus have been getting lately. That being said,
The real problem is the frustration is directed at the wrong people.
The problem is some person and/or group of Executives at EA have decided that efficiency and profit must come above quality at all costs. The proof of this statement has been shown for the last 10 years in their releases.
This disregard of the player base by the parent company's Executive team, in favor of profits year over year, that has forced Maxis Sims Studio to release broken, glaringly not Quality checked, capitalistically separated (Supernatural, Generations) watered down and incomplete packs has cause anger and frustration to boil for years.
This has now reached to the point where any one who has anything to do with the game's development, including the modding community (turbodriver), are receiving the unwarranted and outlandish backlash of the player base.
I say again, no one deserves harassment or death threats, but Electronic Arts refusal to take accountability or ownership of the problem they have created over the last decade is boiling over.

I actually gave up trying to suggest to EA what I wanted nicely because nice doesn't get listened to - they actually DO listen to the nasty loud harassing people who are never happy, don't care if anyone else is happy, and constantly say how they can't wait to play Paralives. Case in point - we have infants but not faeries, don't we? Guess which one was screamed about rudely despite both being equally wanted.
Been here since 2000, you all just keep getting worse. SecuROM broke my CD drive during Sims 2. Straight up forced me to buy a new one and get a no CD mod to play. I didn't harass a single EA employee to the point where they left the internet. I wasn't happy but I handled it like an adult. I even talked to EA directly via phone (so did others with the same issue) when they called about it to try to figure out the issue (the issue was SecuROM treated all CD burners as piracy and destroyed their ability to burn discs - I used mine to back up family photos...). And now here we are, hacking modders who don't update due to being on vacation and sending death threats because there's no snow in the Life and Death world. Ya'll need to turn off your games and go outside ISTG.

Exactly!! I feel it’s weird that we have sim guru’s and other simmers in the EA program thing (I forgot what it’s called lol). It just feels so weird to me. I think that the only time those should exist is if they’re actively making stuff for the game like Xurelia and Ebonix. It’s fine to promote the game…but if they’re not working on game stuff I don’t think there needs to be the ea creator program and sim guru’s. Like another comment said, the sims need a PR team that handles controversy and this. Then the main thing I think everyone can agree on: the sims need to focus on fixing the game not not coming out with packs. Fix the core and existing stuff first. Don’t bird feed players the fixes that should’ve been fixed already, one big update should be fine.

Honestly, I’m not surprised that they deactivate. Some may have been valid criticisms, but too many players take it to an extreme. "Based on" doesn't mean supposed to be exactly like it. It's a fictional game. I've read books and seen plenty of movies and TV shows that are "based on" places and aren't exactly 100% the same because it doesn't fit the story. They had a story and they wanted to fit the world around it. The spooky vibes and Romanian base is where they started.

@meh9677 you can vacation in other places or install the mod that has been made if you are that very concerned with it. I also have seasons, I have a bunch of packs. Not all but a lot, when I'm buying a new pack I'm not solely focused on how well it's going to mash with every other pack. I'm buying it for the extra content. The fact they chose to integrate things with each other is great in general, but they had a story they wanted to tell 🤷‍♀️ creatively makes sense to me. I can't say I'm not angry about the mediocrity or non-existence of seasons in expansion and game pack worlds. that is not and never should be a critique of someone in community management, even if they are developers and involved in decision-making. it's why many companies have separate or even external people for community management. the privilege of talking to developers is not a given, it's a very admirable and very risky exception. and while yes, sim gurus are people, they are also direct representatives of the development team and company in a public forum and as such they have the unfortunate obligation to take blame. so, the blame itself is imo reasonable, if unfortunate. form and communication of that blame most likely won't be. that is a universal truth of social media. of course harassment is not helping anyone, but that's why I don't post on twitter. while the sims community is mostly kind and compassionate, twitter is still shaped by and in part designed for trolls and losers. sorry to be so blunt.
TS4 Get Dead to me still looks like one of the best expansion packs we've had in a while, maybe ever if we're just talking sims 4 (just personal taste and opinion, chill out).
tl,dr: twitter sucks. get used to that and burn it to the ground. but no matter how pointless or unjustified, community management has to take most of the blame. that's just how it works. people are stupid and entitled and rude and over-the-line and they should be called out for it, but not to expect it is a mistake.
again, I'm not saying harassment or insults are justified or useful, but they are a reliable feature of public platforms.

Personally i see what the gurus are going for. Autom is the time for many pagan traditions of between life and death, that's why a lot of Eruopean old world customs traditionally happen in the fall. They want a twilight kind of time for that town between summer and winter aka life "summer" and death "winter". I'm not bothered by that at all for such a town, but they could compromise by adding another eastern European town down the line that do have snow because winter in those places is beautiful and it's a shame they don't have a town in their game based on such places that has winter.

What a ridiculous topic….. This is just such a ridiculous topic. These can’t be actual adults….

    • @citrusbutter7718
      @citrusbutter7718 15 дней назад

I agree and disagree. Yes, there are places in the world that don't snow, even in some cold climate places in Europe like England for example, it rarely gets snow there, but this world is based on Romania..... Romania has some of the world's most deep and pretty snowy winters. So i disagree with you using some places in the world not having snow in the regard to an excuse because the place it's supposed to be based on is a snowy place.
I agree with you though on the point i'm making that it doesn't need to have snow for 2 reasons.... 1 being, it simply doesn't need snow, it's not a big deal o.0.... And 2 because the world itself is somewhat based on real occultism, and in pagan European traditions, they tend to revere the Autom season as the state between life and death, summer being the life bringing season, and winter being the fall of life, the big sleep, the end of life for that time and then spring is the new life and summer being the peak of life.... Seeing as how this pack is based on life and death, i get why they chose to make it all about fall, the location is supposed to be smack dab in the center of life and death.
A good fix for everyone's problem is for them to someday make another pack based in eastern Europe and have it have all 4 seasons, that way everyone gets what they want. The death pack gets to be Autom only and supernatural, and the other pack can just be regular life based in Eastern Europe.

My issue with EA is their whole hearted laziness in so many aspects of the game...and influencers getting the game and instead of being honest about what does and doesn't work chooses instead to kiss EA's behind rather than make a complaint. You can't tell me that with as many influencers that got to play and build for the game that they did NOT notice that you couldn't use Seasons. Kate Emerald repeatedly in her videos said her builds were not going to be the final result but when opening the game...everything was exactly how it was in hers. So what happened to that FINAL overhaul? Did Kate lie...or did EA lie to Kate - I believe Kate. EA needs to quit expecting the community to ALWAYS fix their game with mods and actually do the work themselves - it's seriously like they shrug and go "oh well...a modder will fix it...next issue - a modder will fix it - and on and on.

EA is lazy. Their other franchises have similar issues. However, when people buy products that are sold with bugs and other issues, it encourages that lazy company that they’re doing the right thing. The only true way to show EA to change how they do business is to hurt their pockets by not buying the packs. That’s why I think they’re prolonging TS4. Simmers are still eating these packs and DLCs up. That will not discourage EA.
-Yes influencers who lie also fan the flames. It’s really sad. I’ve been playing Sims since 2004. It is disheartening to see the direction EA has taken. A big, greedy corporation only knows sales or no profits. EA hasn’t seen a significant drop in sales so they won’t get any better until they do. If simmers strike, which they won’t, EA would straighten up but until then business as usual. As a simmer I still buy packs but never at full price. I’m still part of the problem unfortunately. I love this franchise but I very much dislike EA’s business practices. It has very little to do with devs on the sims. It’s the geniuses who call the shots on the business side I reckon who have wrecked this beautiful game.

Simmers have reached peak bratty behaviour, they want absolutely everything, but they don’t want to pay for any of it. It’s like they honestly believe that paying $30 in 2014 should give you a lifetime pass to the entire game. They don’t remember that what you paid for maybe, just barely covers one programmer for one hour. Just their salary. You haven’t even began adding up all the equipment they need, office space, power, water, additional staffing and so on. We are talking about a massive operation that costs tons of money. Imagine just what they spend on updates alone that they aren’t getting paid for. They allow the game to be modded to your every whim. EA gave released about 7 additional packs per year, which are completely optional to purchase. They update it every month. If you think “if they just did it correctly the first time, they wouldn’t have to” I dare you to go in to tech, it doesn’t work like that. It’s impossible to perfectly predict every bug that can happen. Then you have to go through the code, find the fault, create a work around. It’s time consuming, it’s expensive. Do I wish EA gad the balls to go, “yeah, this pack is gonna have to wait, it’s not ready in time” at times? Yes. But do I understand some times you need an income and a bad product gets released? Yes. It’s hard, it’s expensive and simmers keeps complaining at absolutely everything when most of us should be grown ups who have jobs and understand how money works. I love being able to play Sims, but honestly, the day they take it away from everyone and go, “yeah, we are done with this, with you” I will enjoy it. Use bug reports, have open discussion of things that doesn’t work, how you might fix it. But giving real life people hate because your video game isn’t working seems like a psychopath move..

Unless we have some type of leak saying ea spent 500k on the life death expansion pack. We shouldn't be advocating for their expenses.

I paid €70 in 2014 and €40 for weather. Since the Sims 4 is a product, I expect it to work as promised. Like every adult would. As someone who has been playing many games since the 80s, I have never seen a broken a game as the Sims 4. The whole community puts toxic positivity over quality. While every other gaming fandom voices their concerns and is awarded with a better product, simmers seem to just accept low quality.
EA uses SimGurus to humanize itself. This way they can give us slop and people will still excuse it because they don’t want to hurt the developers feelings.
Imagine EA were a car manufacturer that produces broken cars. The mechanics (devs) aren’t necessarily at fault, but they represent the company. Would you buy a broken car just because the poor mechanics have feelings? (Naturally you shouldn’t harass him or anyone.)
It’s truly mind-boggling to see this culture of trying to censor critical voices in the name of harmony. Everyone should know that confrontation and criticism is important to improve things. To improve oneself. Every adult should be aware that an opinion is not an attack.
These times are so weird. People running around and policing everything, obsessing over race and sexuality and openly spreading hate towards others. I grew up in a generation that fought for unity and forgiveness. Nowadays everyone focuses on differences and revenge. 😔

The host hates reality based beings and now we hate simmers.
First they bully csa victims and lolicon for using a game to manage trauma and express an attraction to something healthy.
Now they harass someone for an artistic creative choice, humanity is why we can't have nice things.
There's no justification for taking issue with a world not having a season, period.
Stop putting real world cultures in games if you can't separate reality from fiction.
Inspired by a location=/= based on
And also based on =/= is that location.
Japan isn't in the Sims a in universe location SIMILAR to Japan is.
And fyi to the "modder" you no longer have a right to complain about copyright infringement, you don't respect other people's art so no one has to respect yours.
You didn't "fix" something you spat on someones painting because it didn't have the color you wanted.
I do believe a better way to show what they wanted to would have been to make half the world dead and half of it teeming with life, and create a new plant that is half dead and half alive the meets in the middle of the world.
Snow is a reminder of death, so perpetual spring on one end and winter on the other with an otherworldly nature in the middle would have suited better.
But that being said its not my art, i wasn't the one attempting to express a creative vision only to have my work spat on by the same individuals who whine about AI.
Why shouldn't EA replace its developers with machines when this is how you react to someone's art?
And why shouldn't those who create set pieces and other things for the game support just feeding them into a generation machine so that you can't spit all over art you didn't make.
Because your self entitled cry babies.
I mean after all if you're not going to respect the story that they're trying to tell and the artwork that goes into it you're not entitled to those things having actual love and labor put behind them.
And you're not entitled to disrespect someone who would put those things behind it, by forcing them to expose their genuine labor and love and work to your savagery.
We fully support lazy artists using AI, right now because you aren't entitled to the hard work and loved items because all you will do is poop all over them.
You don't respect them you don't respect creativity and you don't respect artists so why should artists give you their work instead of, a hollow shell?
