They could have a go at The Silmarillion, but it's a difficult read from what I've heard (I have yet to find a hardback copy as I have been advised to buy and read it) and since it's mainly about Sauron before he turns evil, I think, and the Elves - again, I think - I could envision it perhaps as a TV series more than a film
Love how their characters together from how they fight and one cares for the other. Like if they were a brother sister couple for they've been together in Mirkwood and other places. I wonder how Dominic Monaghan (Merry) was with Evangeline Lilly being a part of the same experience, except with her having a better action character than him. Since They both have worked together in Lost.

Thranduil isn't gonna die. PJ does a lot of things but he wouldn't kill a character that is canonly alive 77 years later. He is mentioned several times in LotR and it is also said that he fights against Dol Guldur while Legolas is helping the fellowship. So the only important character that PJ can kill is Tauriel. And that's pretty likely since it would be a bit unbalanced if the only important characters who die are dwarfes. Please warn me before you start WW3 so I have enough time to fly to the moon.
***** And? So what... Just because she wasn't original doesn't mean she should be killed off, she's not in LOTR so she isn't affecting that instead leave her be at the end, living her life respectively as a Mirkwood guard elf.
The whole "Tauriel isn't real" debate is stupid. There is exactly one Mirkwood elf mentioned by name in the book and it's not even Thranduil. I do think she's gonna die. I mean he can't only kill dwarfes now can he? And he can't kill any of the other important elves, since we now that they survive.

TheFourGamerteers I kinda guessed you knew, but let me help you cross off one of your two speculated deadpersons. In the Lord of the Rings book (Fellowhsip I think), Radagast is mentioned and I think he gets some dialogue, so I don't think he dies :). Tauriel however....SHE'S FOOKED M8 :P.
