  • This really nice Gold Top Epiphone Les Paul '56 Pro model electric guitar had some corrosion on most of the frets after the 12th fret. The owner bought the guitar second hand and that really was the only issue... one that was easily solved by using some Shinex sanding sheets from Solomusic in Toronto (and online). Working through the grits and then polishing with some 0000 steel wool removed the corrosion and left some smooth, shiny frets - so much easier to play and look at! Enjoy the video.

Got the same model Eppi (2014). Great guitar. If one becomes available then just buy it.

Enjoy your channel. Purchased your String & Pickup height gauges - Love em. I've had great success using Music Nomad Frine Fret Polishing Kit.

Metal polish works better than sanding metal away and mishaping crowned frets.

I don't find that metal polish alone gets rid of the scratches- you do need to sand a bit especially with how corroded these frets were

I made jump to fret eraser's a few months ago, can't really say that I care for them. I'm still going to use them, to expensive not to.

They are good for general fret cleaning - that is what I use them for mainly

Thanks for the video --always informative. :) Quick question: Were you concerned that going through that series of abrasive pads would affect the crown of the frets? i.e. flatten them out some?

No, because the pads are soft and conform to the shape of the frets- plus, I wasn't applying a lot of pressure. Of course, do everything evenly across the fretboard.
