I'm not sure if there's a meaning behind this but the exact moment they entered Yonder from their world was when they first turned onto the street where the #9 house is, you can see the clouds change from the natural one to the repeated pattern one.
Exactly the vibe I got from the movie ... 10:15 in the vid .. totally agree . not an invasion of the traditional kind .The Martin Children in the different universes are all different . I din't pick up on that until my second viewing . maybe I chose my words poorly ... A cuckoo pushing its rivals out of a nest , is still an invasion . ..its invasive in nature . Im going in for a 3rd time this movie just gets you thinking .. I think that is what makes it so great .
Number 9 in chinese: (9) 九 sounds just like (lucky) 久 (jiǔ), which means “long lasting” and “eternity” in Chinese. It also can mean "completion" or represent the end of a cycle. Possibly why they chose 9. Each trip around the neighborhood always brought them back to 9. The body Tom finds in the hole shows that this has happened before...and in the same house (9) and literally the same spot. A cycle which at the end of the movie has completed and restarted again. 9 is also physically in the shape of a spiral. If you picture the 9 houses of each universe stacked under one another as Gemma discovers...they kind of form a downward spiral...with the top (and bottom) of the spiral being her reality. Another cycle. I think 9 and its various meanings was the perfect house number to use as they used it.
Well first of all that drawing fits perfectly with the film. Another thing that really stood out to me was "Raise the child and be released." The actual release wasn't what they wanted but they were definitely released. This movie was fantastic. I'm looking forward to watching VFW when it arrives. Awesome art as always dude!

Im still trying to figure why it was their bodies at the bottom of the hole, as either it was their bodies .. or the neighborhood was just riddled with corpses .. which I don't think sounds right.Im thinking it was a time loop of some sort . I found it odd they never showed them going into any other home other than the one with #9. In regards to the boy / creatures, I agree they were 4th dimensional beings. I perceived them to be native to Earth, but as a species humans are unaware of and even unable to perceive. Much like the Cukoo, the upbringing process is savage. Their very short life spans (at least the boy/Martin’s) require human parents to give them a quick info dump into human nature so they can fulfill their imperative, bringing more couples into their pocket dimension to act as surrogate parents. I had hoped to see the creature the boy was talking to, as there seemed to be a parallel upbringing and deeper understanding with this creature. The boy was clearly given other lessons and even had a textbook, indicating the species had some sort of independent thought and agency and weren’t just complete mindless drones.
Can someone plz explain me the ending ? what was the movie about anyway? I was so confused, like what was book about when Gemma was reading it , how Tom got sick ? , what was moving thing on small boy neck , was he alien ?... what was underneath the ground about ? Was like time loop thing ? And why Martin got old and die ? Why was ground was moving while digging it ? Can someone plz explain to me ? And what was with boy voice and coping them ?
Tom was sick because he was living in an unnatural environment , yes they are an alien parasitic species , .. Tom was trying to think outside the box literally and dig his way out , there is a time loop as it is an interdimensional trap outside of time , Martin got old and died because his species has a very short lifespan , the young alien uses mimicry to learn . The Aliens are using Humans , like a cuckoo ,uses other species of birds to raise its young . I do explain some of these things in the video . thanks for watching Kev.

The aliens are weird enough that I wouldn't be surprised if the "dead" ones in the filing cabinet aren't just being placed into a sort of "cocoon" in another pocket dimension to achieve their next or final form. Because where did the kid come from?
The new Martin staples a receipt to the body bag. So it's as if there are more aliens that work for Yonder, the baby, food and their trash is delivered and removed. So the body of old Martin would be cataloged for research-how he died, how long he lived, etc. The babies may be from other persons looking for a home...maybe a single woman being used as a surrogate and having it taken away and delivered to a newly trapped couple.
Yeah, I think the boy and Martin are actually some short-lived aliens almost like a mayfly with how short their life spans are. Whether they asexually reproduce is anyone's guess. Or it could be a hive mind.

Yeah, I get that some would be annoyed by the whole "it was aliens" explanation, but I feel that it fits in nicely with the theme of the film rather than it being a simulation. I mean I can see the argument for that, but I think Martin's race simply just feed on their parents' attention and life force until they are used up and discarded like used toilet paper.

The number 9 represents the trap its self , with a path that leads to a never ending loop , the creators dropped that nugget of information in a recent interview .
I don’t know if this is of interest to anyone, but it seems like their time passes differently in yonder. Yes the boy seems to grow old fast, in about a year or so according to the day markers on the wall. however the 2 humans doesn’t look like they’ve aged, still they are dying within a year. And then they are free, in the sense they no longer have to live. But the humans act as if to the existence is nothing but pain without art, music etc. where as the boy/multidimensional aliens only objective is to learn how to blend in with humans. The whole vivarium is made in a way removed from joy, so maybe partly the movie describes what life is like without that, without art, music, films etc.
its actually a bit of a private joke I have going with my nephew , he is a big PM fan , I like to stir him a bit . I really dont mind some of his tracks .

I think the symbolism is saying that our flaws and differences make us sane, if we all live the same then we go crazy, we crave differences.
Definitely , it reminds me of the start of "WEEDS" with the Ticky Tack song and all the suburbanites doing exactly the same things at the same time .

It made me realize I might not be the only one who is suss of kids maybe not being what they seem. And also don’t have kids.

The mayfly analogy at start of film is a clue into how quick these beings live , grow and die .
