Could be non-standard tuning. Kind of like what Devin Townsend does. Can definitely make for a heavy tone. Or could have low E tuned to D. Either way they definitely have a dark sound!

Jeff Tolliver they definitely tune down lower than drop D... I'm not 100% sure but I'm almost positive they tune down to at least B
