I have been a part time Doom player ever since it came out. This is the most high level - in the zone - game play I have ever seen. Are you considering playing it where you could take damage?
It's quite the opposite in many situations. Staying still with well-controlled small steps allows to funnel a dense flow of projectiles and helps keeping things ordered and predictable. Taking an invisibility powerup againt a wall of mancubi is a suicide for the same reason. It's not about being frantic. It's about control.

@@saddane6897 Doom's original hit detection isn't perfect, things like projectiles sailing through targets, or even solid walls, is not uncommon (look up the Blockmap Bug), and can even be more common in certain spots in certain maps. For splash damage, the only things in the game which do splash damage is rockets from the player or Cyberdemon, barrels exploding, the Arch-Vile's magic attack (where you can actually avoid the splash damage if hit by using a very simple exploit, thus only taking half damage), and the explosions when the Icon Of Sin dies. Nothing else in the game does splash damage, even things which look like they would. Give me a timestamp of something you think looks suspect in the video.

i wouldn't argue that really. there's no doubt the wad is pretty well made, but TAS allows for obscenely advanced techniques that you cant do in real time; like precise RNG manipulation in order to control hitscan and projectile calculations.

For the newbies: this is a Tool-Assisted Speedrun (TAS). That means the inputs were sequenced frame-by frame and played back perfectly by a special program. This isn't humanly possible, but that's the whole point :)
@@martinvasilev6099 That's the in-game time, but TASes, especially something as perfect and as hectic as this, literally mean you're breaking down every feasible frame and either calculating or trial&error-ing every possible outcome, which with the plethora of different actions and decisions you can make, would realistically take wayyyyyyyy longer than what the in-game time is.
I watched the whole thing on and off the past two days. I was not planning to do so or anything, but I just kept watching to see how much more batshit crazy this map would become. Unbelievable.

I was really curious how you'd handle the chaingunner rooms. That triple BFG shot at 43:25 to prep tracer spam to kill them all was awesome. Haven't watched the whole thing yet but this is a spectacle. Really cool run.

The game sense, patients you have is incredible. Not only do you master each fight with such precision when weaving through an onslaught of projectiles. You’ve managed multiple times to dodge them with out looking at them. Absolutely incredible. How do you even get around to marathoning this with out mid level fatigue? I love the game but maaan. I wish I could do single segment was playthroughs. Doom II, BTSX 1/2, valiant. Ancient aliens. Takes so much out of me I end up suffering burn out after an episode. Any tips on how to handle that? I’ve taken breaks and what not. But I end up crawling back rather quickly. I’m on a forced break right now as I unfortunately dropped my pc during a move and badly damaged my GPU, CPU, Motherboard. Playing on PS5 with a controller doesn’t do it for me chief. I would love to get back on the doom horse and marathon map sets again like my younger days. Thanks for the content friend. this is like insanity in doom form. impressive level, impressive infighting battles sometimes, very very awesome. this must have not been easy, even with TAS, so cheers!. im writing this comment at the one hour mark. watching the entire thing!

I just got recommended this video recently and I must say that it is the most insane WAD I have ever seen. I started my Doom journey with Doom 3 of all things many years ago, but holy hell this is the kind of action I hope gets added into Doom Eternal at some point.
