the evolution of popular culture over the last 40 years has been astounding.
It's easy to look back at a period of time from a distance and lump it together. We all do it. But in 1970 I was a nine year old kid. In 1989 I was a 28 year old father! Remember that when you think about time. Time is a crazy thing.
You could have warned us this video contains Scott Baio. 😂
I remember when people were intimidated by their VCRs! They couldn't figure out how to set up a recording. I remember not being able to believe the TV didn't even have to be on. Times change. . .
I haven't been 18 to 34 in years and I still demand performance
The Texas Wheelers was a wonderful sitcom that starred a young Mark Hamill. Unfortunately, CBS was running it up against The Rockford Files, so it was cancelled after six episodes. However, that freed Mark up to audition for the new George Lucas movie STAR WARS... 🙂
hamills gone crazy in his old age
Harry O, he lives off a Policeman’s disability pension, and he moonlights as a Private Detective. So he’s committing fraud by drawing such a pension as he’s able to work as a Private Detective with no problem, and he’s supposed to be the good guy!
at 9:12...that bottle of wine...over $2,000 today for a 1959 Chateau Margaux...I'm suddenly very thirsty!
24:28 "Today's and tomorrow's video consumers have jobs, incomes, and lifestyles that are virtually recession-proof" 😂😂😂
4:35 - The couple drinking coffee is Mitzi McCall and Charlie Brill. Mitzi just passed away recently, but Charlie's still with us.
5:35 - Clifton Davis of That's My Mama was a successful songwriter. He wrote "Never Can Say Goodbye", which was a huge hit for The Jackson Five, Isaac Hayes and Gloria Gaynor.
7:37 - Interesting how the movie version of Paper Moon starred one cast member of TV's Peyton Place (Ryan O'Neal) and the TV version starred another (Christopher Connelly). That's Burton Gilliam of Blazing Saddles at 8:12.
Two things: I didn't realize how tall Liz Walker was until seeing her in person at Stop & Shop, and for a while (until seeing it captioned) I thought Joyce Kulhawik's name was "Joyscul Haywick" :P
Some of the featured shows clued me in on some very obscure MST3K references.
A period of time we all had to endure... some came through it with minimal cognitive impairment... others weren't so fortunate, however...
Something about television in America being akin to the lead in the pipes that drove the Romans mad?
The future is in video monitors. LOL!
They definitely don't make em like they used to.
WBZ-TV seems full of itself!
Did I miss your posting The Night Stalker?
Paper Moon was Tatum. Not Jodi. Thanks for the clips 🐾
Tatum starred in the motion picture version, Jodi appeared in the TV series.
@@theskilz00 - Yup, that was definitely Foster in the clip.
I thought it was a burger joint commercial........
Followed up Channel 2.
