This was played at my cousins funeral a few weeks ago. It was one of his favourite pieces of music. He died two weeks before Christmas due to a massive seizure from an inoperable brain tumour. He'd been having them for years and this one just punched his ticket. They played this while photos of him through his life were shown, with all his travels and adventures and everyone just broke. It was awful having to wear a mask and not being able to hug people and try and comfort them properly. His name was Daniel and he was a really great guy, I have some awesome memories of him and we shared music together whenever we could. Godspeed mate. You can rest now. Take it easy Dan. We'll look after the place for you.
I'm so sorry for your loss... This song reminds me of my cousin who we lost in November 2020. Not a day goes by I don't think about her and this song was the icing on top. They are somewhere beautiful and free of pain, Rest Easy,until we meet again...🖤

Love at first listen. My first emotions after listening to both songs were of annoyance and dismay, how could I be consuming four tet, radiohead and burial for years and not be recommended this mini album on spotify? I was then left in wonder, what if the album was longer, like a standard one? 7-8 songs? Would it still have maintained the same wonderful surreal soundscape? Probably, but I love that it adheres to the less is more adage. It reminds me of the collab between James blake and Kendrick lamar, just by sheer excellence. An unlikely duo that came up with the timeless black panther OST. Just incredible.

I know I was born broken, all attempts to piece the fragments of myself together seem futile. I haven't been alive long, but I have felt so much loss. I don't want to grow up anymore. I want to remain a child forever or die trying. I don't think I want to be alive next month. But at least I know I can listen to this and reminisce the things I have lost. Maybe someday I'll be ok.

I know this comment is old but i remember listening to this song as i took my estrogen for the first time. My partner had left me the day before so actually going through with it was turned into an even bigger decision for me. I feel like it can bring up so many feelings.
I also remember listening to burials music as a teenager on those super dysphoric nights where I'd shut myself off from the world because i couldn't even really tell anyone what was going on. The music definitely helped me feel less panicked about the whole situation in some way. Idk, I'm rambling, but i hope you're doing good nowadays. It can be a mean world sometimes.

If you love this, go watch Pather Panchali and Satyajit Ray’s Apu Trilogy. Ravi Shankar’s gorgeous soundtracks accompany the youth and family life of this young indian boy against the backdrop of industrialism and old rural India going away and it is so stunning. It puts these four little sitar notes in such a massive context. I cannot recommend those films enough. They changed my life in film school many years ago.
