5:00 I tried the Garrison Brothers boot flask, and couldn't stand it. I could swear that the mash bill was 51% corn and 49% grass clippings. I won't try anything else from that distillery, especially not at their prices. 6:07 Oh, this is good! I had a Total Wine store pick, which was only 106.9 proof, but it was *delicious* ! Balcones is my favorite distillery - I regularly drink their Baby Blue corn whisky and Texas Pot Still Bourbon.
I am a huge Garrison Brothers detractor...doesn't taste good; very expensive; and just a general FUNK to the taste. I find that "funk" in A LOT of Texas bourbons but not all of them.
Like others are saying, you gotta get in on Still Austin. They are thumping the other Texas distilleries. Their Cask Strength Bourbon and the new quarterly release Bottled In Bond shouldn't be ignored.
@@mistermom310 I love the Red Corn. I still need to crack into the High Rye Bottled In Bond, which I just got. So I'm guessing maybe 2 months before they'll ship the Blue Corn to FL.
That was a great video! Appreciate the TX love as most people think all TX whiskey is harsh and nasty. While it does have it fair share of terrible bottles, it also has some that are up there with the best of them! Milam & Greene is another great bottle.
Loved this one! Man can't believe how long ya'll have been doing this. I have never heard of Rebecca Creek but I am on the look out for it. THANK YOU!!!!
Yes, you did have the Cowboy Bourbon before! I sent a sample of the 2020 to you several years ago. You did a review and were blown away by the proof:) By the way, I have visited 7 distilleries in TX and my favorite is Ranger Creek in San Antonio.
Oh I love the way you did this. Glad you did it as a blind. I did a review on the True Blue and on the Garrison Bros Cowboys 2022. I really enjoyed both . But now I really want to try rebecca creek. I have not tried the iron root but keep hearing mixed reviews. Wish you would have had a Still Austin. I am really enjoying their Red Corn BIB. thanks for a great honest review. Awesome video. great idea. cheers
There are some really good Texas Whiskeys. There is a “funk” on some of those and some are polarizing - you love them or hate them. I have friends who love Garrison Brothers and I can’t stand that one. I like Still Austin and it turns off the Garrison fans. TX whiskey and Rebecca Creek seem to be in more traditional taste zones. TX has a hint of pecans as they use a pecan based yeast.
Some of those Texas products have won awards. It would be interesting for you to add the ages of each one, aging happens more rapidly in Texas than some other states due to the wider temperature swings. As for Nyquil- oh the taste is strong and hard to take but if you have a cold, feel bad, can't sleep- take Nyquil before you go to bed and you will swear it is a miracle drug. So now I don't mind the taste, it signals that I will start feeling better.
Agree on the Ironroot Harbinger. For me Texas whisky is like Peated Scotch. You either like it or you done because it has very very distinct flavor profile.
Howdy folks! Very entertaining especially David’s expressions on the TX ones! Nice touch throwing in the JD (which I like but agree it’s a hot one!) I lived in Fredericksburg from 85-93 before moving to TX. Have tried all the bourbon here but yet to acquire a taste for them…maybe Still Austin and Rebecca but Balcones and Ironroot are my least favorite by a long ways. Garrison way too expensive. Interesting to see your takes. Gracias amigos!
I got 6 bottles of those Rebecca creek bourbons. I’m giving one away free to a friend 😢. It’s the best fucking bourbon I have ever had in my lifeeee. You find out fast that it’s the best too. The flavors are so damn rich My gosh.
😭😭😭 We’ve got the DO Finished in Spanish oak and it’s amazing! I’d love to try the bourbon. We tried several times to get in touch with them for a barrel pick and we cannot seem to connect. If you have any connections there please email me. Beyondtherow123@gmail.com
@@jaimesrow I might have something brewing with them. I’m working on 2 cases now. It’s sold out everywhere I can find that ships unless they are $150-$300. Msrp is $55

Jamie is great at this! Y'all come on down to Hye and git ya some good Bourbon! 😀

Agreed. I never liked Texas whiskey until I had Still Austin. The musician, and the artist rye are exquisite.
I just got a Still Austin Red Corn and I'm waiting on the Blue Corn. It releases this Friday at the distillery, next month in select stores

@@FatTire713 I got my Red Corn shipped via Reserve Bar, an online vendor / drop shipper
The only ones I like so far are Still Austin and Belfour. 🥃

💯
Nice video! Cool to see some Texas love. The Milam and Greene grain to glass offerings are pretty great as well! 🥃

Try still Austin

If you get a chance try the TX Tawny Port Finish. 😋🥃👍👍

Love Still Austin, Ironroot Harbinger is one of the worst bourbons I’ve ever had. Couldn’t even hide it in cocktails.
I've been big on the Rebecca Creek Spanish Oak Double Barrel since I bought my first bottle of it. It's a special pour
Great video. I love the way you put that one together. Cheers
Generally the Texas bourbons don't appeal to me, but each Milam & Greene I try, I like. So there you go ... I shouldn't generalize ;-)
Get yourselves some Still Austin. Musician cask strength Bourbon and the artist rye are phenomenal.
You guys are great together. New subscriber here.
Thank you so much! We have a lot more to come ☺️🥃

The Cowboy is the only garrison bros product ill buy anymore. Overpriced, but very good.
TX Whiskey is really good too. Not the blended though.
Still Austin and Rebecca Creek are the best Texas bourbons. Pass on Garrison Brothers
David your aweasl doing Jamie like that she might steal your whiskey one of these days better watch out lol
