Growing up people gave me crap for liking NASCAR because they just drive around in a circle. I corrected them by saying first its an oval, second they have a few road courses, and third there’s a track in the shape of a triangle, and then made fun of one of their favorite sports by breaking it down to the very basics. Any sport sounds stupid if you break it down like that.
What sport did you poke fun at?
I mean f1 also races in circles they are just fancier lol
You bring up Pocono's weather issues, but I'm surprised you didn't bring up Brian Zimmerman's death from lightning. That whole ordeal is what lead to the lightning clock's creation.
Let’s also not forget that since the Xfinity Series started coming to Pocono in 2016 that almost every race has been phenomenal!
Pocono also ended Kurt Busch’s career…..
It was more so the next gens rigid design. Also the saddest part of it is literally seconds before it happened Rick Allen said « and now Kurt Busch, who despite his long tenure is fast as ever »
don’t forget Jimmie Johnson….he has just not been the same since that wreck. 😞
@@FoodCityCupSeries That was Jr. that said that. He had at least 2 more years in him.
@@BraydenBunch58 oh, yeah ty
Pocono is one of the weirdest tracks out there
That’s why They call It The Tricky Triangle: It’s Very Bizarre!!!
My first race was the June 2001 Pocono race. I think Ricky Rudd won. Was in the infield right by that Steve Park wreck the next year. Went back in 2021. Love that place.
It’s probably largely a favorite due to the nostalgia of camping in 2001. It was a whole week. Now you get in on Friday and leave Sunday. Not as fun. I’d still like to go back. I wish I had photos of that weekend
most underappreciated race track
Undoubtedly the king of Pocono is Denny Hamlin, 7 wins?? That’s pretty good
Pocono the Track that Knocks People Sensless 😢 Jeff Gordon in '06, Davey Allison in '92, Jimmie Johnson in '17, Elliott Sadler in '10, Kurt Busch in '22,
Bubba Wallace also in '18, same place and reason as Gordon and Johnson.
@@D2RCR wasn't that 2018?
@@metricccccc oops, sure was
Langhorne has worthy competition.
Same state, too. Sup with Pennsylvania having weird race tracks thenn. You got Pocono, Nazareth (RIP), you got a history of murderdrome board tracks, you got Langhorne
Only other one that springs to mind is Trenton, too
Even squidbillies knew about the danger of pocono lol. One of my fav early cuyler quotes is "ohhh cock johnson... there aint enough headache powder in the world to unscramble your brain after you done hit the wall at pocono" 🤣
😂what fr??
@@roymcdre9180 hell yea i forget the episode lol. Earlys in the general store talking to the cutout of cock johnson 🤣 one of those jokes that probably went over most ppls heads but as a racefan i was lmao 😂. Now whenever i see bobby allisons wreck, earlys quote comes to mind lol
2023 I feel like had more rain checks , it’ll be cool to see how this year ends
I used to hate Pocono both because I sucked at it on NASCAR 15 (like really sucked, would still qualify near the back on the easiest difficulty) and because the racing generally felt boring. But since about 2021 Pocono’s become a really good race again and I’ve really looked forward to it the past few years
2:41 You can forget about Justin Wilson's head shot that unfortunately killed him or Is the 2018 abc 500 crash Which nearly killed Robert wickens and left him paralyze and And the 2019 abc 500 caused like a 15 car piled up I believe
Going to my first Pocono race this weekend. Not sure how to feel after this video lol
Elliot Sadler hit it head on I saw the crash happen
I love my home track! Can't wait to be there this weekend!!!!
Also, if NASCAR ever goes international, they should consider annual visits to Europe. Just like the NBA, NHL and NFL. And there is the perfect track for this IMO - Lausitzring. Why am I mentioning it again?
Because it's like Pocono! Designed for IndyCar and is a literal flat triangle, almost a right triangle as well. It's just 2 miles and not 2.5. If NASCAR goes to that track, that would mean we'll basically have 2 Poconos. If it happens, I propose that the races at the Tricky Triangle are moved to the play-offs. Supposedly taking place right after the Southern 500, because I see no other way for a race in Europe than in the summer. Moving Pocono in the play-offs would really make races there a test of who is the best and which car is the fastest. I'd love to see it nonetheless.
Being the only independent owned track has its benefits. It's my home track so I have some bias but even outside the track you'll find so many independent vendors that can make it way easier and faster to get merch, even if it is a few years older than what you'd get at a merch hauler. I'm sure other tracks have some of them as well, but there's arguably more secondhand sellers than actual official merch that can get you some decent and rare finds
Me at 2:20 I wonder if he’s going to mention Elliot Sadler? Me at 2:35. There it is
Been to over 20 races there & most weren't very competitive.
Really great and informative video for a new Nascar fan like myself. Keep it up, man!
0:45 it has five turns!
WHAT TURN 4?!
im honored that turn 3 is modeled after my home track
Not just NASCAR teams and drivers treat it as a special track, IndyCar also used to treat races at Pocono as special as Indy 500
I want them to come back soooooo bad. I guess it’s to dangerous now a days
@@bobjenkins884Didn't those crashes happen at the corner modelled after Indy? If that makes Pocono dangerous then they're being really hypocritical racing at the Brickyard.
@@DaPikaGTM Your are correct, but they can’t leave Indy. Indycar is dead with the Indy 500.
Wanna talk about bizarre. Should have seen the infield during the 90s 😆
Poc OH NO
Weird Yankee quirk, don't let someone from rural P.A. hear you call them that.😆
Pocono is an overhated track
Hamlin consistently wins at this track shitty 550 racing was all good enough reasons to not care for Pocono but then it went and Ended Kurt's career and I won't forgive it for that
Even though Jeff Gordon was my guy and won there a lot, I hate ponoco races 💤
