Growing up people gave me crap for liking NASCAR because they just drive around in a circle. I corrected them by saying first its an oval, second they have a few road courses, and third there’s a track in the shape of a triangle, and then made fun of one of their favorite sports by breaking it down to the very basics. Any sport sounds stupid if you break it down like that.

You bring up Pocono's weather issues, but I'm surprised you didn't bring up Brian Zimmerman's death from lightning. That whole ordeal is what lead to the lightning clock's creation.

My first race was the June 2001 Pocono race. I think Ricky Rudd won. Was in the infield right by that Steve Park wreck the next year. Went back in 2021. Love that place.
It’s probably largely a favorite due to the nostalgia of camping in 2001. It was a whole week. Now you get in on Friday and leave Sunday. Not as fun. I’d still like to go back. I wish I had photos of that weekend

Only other one that springs to mind is Trenton, too

I used to hate Pocono both because I sucked at it on NASCAR 15 (like really sucked, would still qualify near the back on the easiest difficulty) and because the racing generally felt boring. But since about 2021 Pocono’s become a really good race again and I’ve really looked forward to it the past few years

Also, if NASCAR ever goes international, they should consider annual visits to Europe. Just like the NBA, NHL and NFL. And there is the perfect track for this IMO - Lausitzring. Why am I mentioning it again?
Because it's like Pocono! Designed for IndyCar and is a literal flat triangle, almost a right triangle as well. It's just 2 miles and not 2.5. If NASCAR goes to that track, that would mean we'll basically have 2 Poconos. If it happens, I propose that the races at the Tricky Triangle are moved to the play-offs. Supposedly taking place right after the Southern 500, because I see no other way for a race in Europe than in the summer. Moving Pocono in the play-offs would really make races there a test of who is the best and which car is the fastest. I'd love to see it nonetheless.

Being the only independent owned track has its benefits. It's my home track so I have some bias but even outside the track you'll find so many independent vendors that can make it way easier and faster to get merch, even if it is a few years older than what you'd get at a merch hauler. I'm sure other tracks have some of them as well, but there's arguably more secondhand sellers than actual official merch that can get you some decent and rare finds
