Rescue arcs are my favorite trope in anime. And I can’t find an anime or fictional show or movie that doesn’t have me loving the journey. I guess I’m a sucker for heroes or true friendship expanded or questioned in an arc about rescuing someone physically and emotionally.
My favourite rescue arc (or saga in this case) is Summit War, especially in manga. It's the longest series of Luffy's tragedies and that is something unusual for shonen manga to have its main character to lose that hard and in an irreversible way (at least in the middle of the story).
" if you don't like the main character then why are you watching the show?" There are stories in which the side characters carry the show not the main character. They are entertaining enough to put up with the main character sucking or being less interesting
That's true. Very dependent on what type of show it is for me though. I would not be able to read one piece if I hated luffy lol. If the main character is that important and present in the story, I need to like them to some extent
Facts, Bungou Stray Dogs is like that. The MC is pretty boring and only used for the basic plot, but Dazai, Ranpo, and the Port Mafia carry the whole series.
enies lobby didn’t have any character the audience wanted to be saved, we literally had no reason to root for the strawhats to save robin we knew nothing about her at the time and she barely had any interesting screen time
Sasuke: I hate my brother so much, I'm leaving the village. Naruto: Don't do that. Sasuke: I'm gonna. Killua: Hey, mom. Can I go out and play? Killua's mom: No. Killua's dad: Yes. Robin: Why won't you let me die? Luffy: Cuz dying is cringe. Robin: Oh, you right.
it's not really fair to compare Solo Leveling with Naruto One piece 12 episodes and one Movie with several hundred episodes what Solo Leveling is trying to do is not the same thing Naruto One Piece HxH is trying to do. I think
Im not really comparing the series as a whole. Both Solo Leveling and Naruto/One Piece/HxH explore the idea of a character trying to save someone important to them, so the focus of my comparison is on how effectively those motivations are built up and executed. It's less about how much time the series has and more about how that time is used to make the audience care about the rescue. Even with limited runtime, Solo Leveling could’ve done more to make Jin’s desire to save his mom feel impactful
@@Neamio I haven’t read the source material so I have no idea lol. I would imagine his mom does get saved at some point though, so there would have to be some sort of rescuing going on

Water 7 arc in my opinion is the best so much stuff happen during that arc

Just watch better shows bruh. I will never watch a show with a MC I can't even tolerate
7:21 Me with Naruto!
Man, imagine a Justice League rescue arc like anime does it?
In my opinion the sasuke retrieval arc is arguably the best rescue arc in anime and enies lobby being a close 2
enies lobby didn’t have any character the audience wanted to be saved, we literally had no reason to root for the strawhats to save robin we knew nothing about her at the time and she barely had any interesting screen time
Soul society > imo
Personally I would put water 7 before sasuke retrieval just because every moment in that arc is 10/10 for me. Sasuke one is still peak though
Personally i love Marineford
(Or basically the summit war saga)
Unpredictable 10/10
Emotion 10/10
Fights 8/10
Side characters 10/10
Plot twist 10/10
Lore 10/10
Worldbuilding 10/10

Tell me you haven't watched the show without telling me you haven't watched the show

Summed up Shonen
yeah the gaara rescue is the best in my opinion
That one is pretty peak
@@KumoBear12 *[Sasuke Rescue]* on the other hand is:
*Legendary*
That was pretty boring imo

btw theres no rescue arc in solo lev
I heard there was one later on, but yeah I was really just comparing the motivations
@@KumoBear12 where was the bleach soul society arc
@@KumoBear12 Bruh, the best you can say is SJW saving his sister which was like 3 chapters lmao calling it a arc is crazy
