A TIP: When you wear your binder out, especially for the first few times, BRING A BACK UP PLAN. The first time I put on a binder I was like, "What's everyone talking about? This is fine. Very comfortable." So I went out for a whole day and I will tell you after a couple hours I had REGRETS and nothing to change into. Don't be like me, bring a back up.
I really agree! Mostly after a few hours in which I feel very comfy in my binder, my body shows when it's enough. And I've always a sports bra in my backpack.
@Ash Wolf for most people that bind, it is a way of escaping body dysphoria. "Just" taking the binder off might make them super dysphoric so you still want to have a back up plan that helps your dysphoria such as a sports bra (Which usually also makes the chest appear flatter) to not fall into a deep dark dysphoric place once you have to take your proper binder off.
I bind with layered sport bras (I know it's bad but I'm closeted and can't get a binder) so if I feel like it hurts or gets uncomfortable I just take all except one off and put them in my back pack and leave that one because I can't walk just walk around with no bra on
Don't sleep with a binder on! Especially when you first start binding, raise ur arms above ur head and cough when you take it off in case any fluid settled in ur lungs
@A M. It would be great if we could but for most trans guys who haven't had top surgery (like me) it's impossible and sometimes worse to take it off because while you're helping your physical condition, your mental condition is getting worse and it really just feels horrible
@A M. I think you're missing the point. We all WANT double mastectomies! Removal/disappearance of the breasts fixes/mitigates the dysphoria, which is the exact treatment needed for that "mental health" you mention.Congrats to the select few individuals who have light enough dysphoria that they can just meditate it away. For the vast majority it doesn't work that way.
@A M. the struggle is know what you look like inside and not seeing that in a mirror, having a creepy feeling when boobs touch, looking down and seeing a butt crack instead of a cleavage, feeling the weight of them each day in a way that self mutilation might cross the mind to feel normal, I'm not trying to argue about it I'm just trying to inform you that a double mastectomy is a waaaaay better option than self mutilation to feel normal in your own eye. Do you stand here as a transgender or is this your opinion? I'm curious about your thought process to lead to to thinking just therapy can help body dysphoria, this is a serious situation not just plastic surgery...
couple of tips i didnt see mentioned: 1. take "off days" if possible; its healthier to have one day in your week where you don't wear your binder at all. I usually have my off-day on the weekend + the same day I wash it because I usually don't go out on sunday + i can't really wear the binder when its wet and drying from a wash anyway! 2. DO NOT SLEEP IN YOUR BINDER; this is something that really got drilled at me when i first started looking into binding again you will ache like hell if you accidentally forget to take off your binder before bed or a nap, and it is not worth risking your breathing health like that. 3. when layering clothing, big baggy layers are not always the best option and sometimes will end up making you look smaller/younger rather than more "masculine"; so try to find clothes that fit you! 4. if you have siblings/roommates/etc who may borrow your clothes, its important to let them know about it (if you are able) so they don't accidentally borrow your binder without knowing what it does. same thing applies also if someone else you live with helps with laundry, make sure they know your binder shouldn't be machine washed. 5. sizing test tip, (especially if you are getting an old hand-me-down binder); when you are wearing it, you should be able to fit your whole hand down the back of the neck without discomfort. If you can't do that, then it is definitely too tight. The way it was described to me is that it should feel like a "hug" rather than clinging like extra tight spandex/cutting into your skin. 6. bring an extra undershirt/bra/sports bra with you when you go places in case you need to change into something less constricting; this is especially important for summer heat or jobs with lots of physical labor. i know there have been days where i was very glad i had a sports bra as back up and didnt have to just go around wearing nothing under my shirt. (and also if i needed to take a nap on campus on one of the library couches) 7. doing simple stretches before and after wearing your binder may alleviate some aching and stiffness. even if you dont know any yoga or warm up exercises or whatever, maybe google search some lower back and shoulder stretches/ i didn't even realize how much i'd been powering through until a friend showed me a few zen yoga twist poses and was like??????? this actually feels a lot better man.
#3: Fit, fit, fit! I've had SO MUCH LESS dysphoria now that I wear properly fitted clothes. Wearing baggy stuff makes me look 50lbs heavier, 20yr younger (and NOBODY looked good in the 90s), and I feel like a slob. Wearing fitted chinos, a button down, and nice shoes makes me feel like a million bucks and look like I actually care about and take care of myself. Add a tight men's tank top or tee under that button up and I've got a mostly flat chest since boy's/men's button ups are made from material with little to no give. The button up can't stretch around my breasts and instead forces them even flatter to my chest. Instant androgeny at worst, and partially masculine at best.
@¿Meko? ¿Blade? yeah me too! i personally dont mind if i look a lot younger wearing baggy/oversized clothes if its more comfy! depending on ur job/lifestyle i could understand wanting to look 'mature' tho. plus there are a lot of styles these days with that in mind so in the right fit you wont always look like a teen boy in ur 20/30s lol
FOR WASHING/DRYING BINDERS SECRETLY: Washing: I sometimes will take a super quick shower and then get out of the shower but leave the shower on while I wash my binder in the sink. I usually take pretty long showers (30-45 mins) so it’s less suspicious for me to be “in the shower” for half an hour while I’m really washing my binder. Drying: I tend to put my binder on a hanger and hide it between clothes in my closet. If you share a closet, I recommend putting it on a hanger and then putting a light shirt over the binder. This way it’s hidden but can still dry fairly well. NOTE: make sure you take the shirt off of the binder as much as you can and check that it’s drying! This system of putting a shirt over it could cause mildew or mold to start growing. Be careful!
If you have a metal radiator in your bedroom you can hang the binder between the radiator and the wall with magnets to dry. It can't be seen unless you look directly down the back of the radiator while standing over it.
i love the "if youre white" at 6:55- as an african american i could not stop laughing at this- my grandma took me bra shopping a few years back and i had to argue with her that "a white bra is way more see-through in white shirts than black one" and it took her a *very* long time to realize why.
On the topic of swim binders: Underworks do make a swim binder, i have no experience with this but it is something you could try. You can swim in GC2B binders (possibly because the method of binding they use is a flat panel rather than a stretchy one like underworks). Also, go a size up becuase they do get tighter and especially if you want to take it off when it's wet you'll have trouble. As for excersising, also go up a size-YOU NEED TO BREATHE-trust me. Also probably get a second one for excersising if you can cause you will get sweaty as heck. Of course, if you can excersise without binding that is obviously better. Hope this helps :)
The media in my area has been airing a lot hate and I just spent an hour looking at my ceiling, crying and feeling all the body feels. Thank you for being here.
I send you my love! We can all get through this, together. We will live past the bad people in power and create a new and better tomorrow. WE ARE THE FUTURE. And we can change the course of history, if we stay determined.
idk if this is obvious or not , but never sleep in your binder either . like , idk if you wanna take a nap or something , but if you do - definitely take your binder off before doing it . if you sleep in a binder , you can really damage yourself and it will be very hard to breathe after you wake up .
The bra itself might not be constricting but the band is. If you put more than two sports bras on it starts getting really uncomfortable and you can feel them digging into your ribs
Definitely designed for short-term use. That band is killer on ribs. If you size up, you should be able to wear it all day, though. It won't flatten as well, but some flattening is better than none, and far superior to permanent damage to your body.
Whenever I try to buy boys clothes my mum wont let me and when I tried to get my hair cut like yours she said its too much like a boy . Not really are what to do but I don't want to come out yet. Wish could take part in the binder giveaway :/ . But I'm still happy that you made this video so I can learn more about it . so thanks ❤
Hi, some advice on the haircut situation. What a friend of mine did was get his hair cut into a bob (pretty stereotypically feminine) and then slowly cut it shorter each time he went back
Blue Anders I already have short hair which is similar to jacksons but my mum has more of a problem with me getting it shaved at the sides and back. But that's good still good advice so thanks ❤
Try to find non-gendered brands where you live OR find clothes that simply don’t say “man” or “woman” on them and buy them without your mom if possible. For binding, use a sports bra. Or, use a tank top: fold the bottom up so the hem touches the collar. It should be right sides out. It won’t do much to compress your chest, but it will give it a slightly flatter, broader appearance instead of two separate lumps, making it look more like pecs. I use the tank top method if I’m dysphoric while trying to sleep because you should never sleep in a binder.
Eli on the Internet the sports bra is something I'm definetly gonna do i just feel stupid buying one. Il try and see if there's any non genderbrands about as well . thanks
A TIP FROM SOMEONE WITH BAD DYSPHORIA: If you're like me and you have really indecisive dysphoria and the types of dysphoria switch every like five seconds, it's good to keep both a binder and a regular bra on you at all times just in case it hits really suddenly.
"When I was in the depths of dysphoria, I would find any excuse not to move forward with things that were ultimately going to make my happier and healthier." WOW, that was like the lightning-bolt call-out I needed to hear, thank you.
Thanks so much for this video, it's really important because there is a lot of misinformation out there about binding that can ruin trans peoples' lives. Also @ anyone with a gc2b binder: you can swim in a gc2b! They strongly recommend going a size up, and definitely wash it right after, but all gc2b binders will withstand water (I've worn mine in a pool, lake, and hot tub multiple times and it's still kicking).
Yo! I'm waiting for mine while it's shipping so that's really cool to know :) You probably won't se this bc your comment is like 2 years old (as of July 2021) but this is still useful information
If you want to be really discreet then I recommend underwork’s binding sports bra. It binds, it looks like a bra, you can exercise in it and you can probably convince your parents to buy you a bra.
My mum literally said to me today “clothes shouldnt be gendered” and she bought me a playstation hoodie from the “boys” section and i almost cried when i got it :’)
I dont own a binder, and I dont really know how my parents would react if I asked for one, I'm still trying to plan out how to talk to them about being called a different name and pronouns and stuff like that... I honestly dont know what to do ;~; and is 13 too young to start binding? Edit: my first binder just arrived! Thx for the tips, they were very much needed.
There's a lot of growth that happens in your ribcage and stuff in adolescence before your growth plates fuse. Definitely talk to a doctor about it if you can. Best of luck talking to your parents! Maybe having a list of resources available for them would help? Also remember don't be completely discouraged if you don't get the response you want right away, sometimes it takes a while for people to come around.
Another tip: If you're starting T or to work out or both don't assume your binder size will stay the same. Some people have more fat than tissue in their chest, and if you're working out to gain muscle anywhere under a binder your physical measurements will change and especially if you're on the cusp between sizes it might bump you up or down a safe/effective size.
Binder tips that I use bc my dysphoria is so freaking bad: *Washing:* I usually start to run some lukewarm water in the sink and stick my binder in. I then get something like laundry detergent or even regular soap and rub the soap into parts of my binder like the armpit (especially inside out) and just keep lathering it in to places that have been discolored due to being dirty and worn often. I then rinse with slightly colder water and squeeze it out. Then repeat the process until clean. Then soak in fabric detergent and water for a little and squeeze and rinse a little. I then hang the binder in front of a fan and leave it on overnight. *Dysphoria while bathing:* When bathing, I like to wear swimming trunks and a t-shirt. If I can, I will also wear the binder for as long as I can in the bath/shower without getting it wet. And when I have to wash my torso, I close my eyes, take off the binder and try not to move very much, then put a shirt on and wash up. That’s all I have atm but I might update at some point. Hope this was helpful!
For U.K. peeps Spectrum Outfitters are pretty good and safe binders, little more expensive than GC2B but you aren’t paying for international shipping or risking the £13 customs charge so it works out about the same! And it’s a trans owned and run business too :-) Also you can look up MORPH binder scheme in the U.K. and ask for their catalogue, they collect and rehome used or old binders and only ask that you pay postage generally. Otherwise you might find some being sold for slightly less than retail price in trans masc Facebook groups or free at trans and queer clothes swaps and the like so that might be an option
I have never used either but I like learning so this is only what ive heard but with kt tape im pretty sure it can damage your ribs by not allowing your chest to expand properly. It is also supposed to stay on for days - weeks at a time so taking it off early can cause scarring where you take the skin off with it which can make top surgery more complicated. However leaving it on until it peals off increases rib cage damages ESPECIALLY FOR YOUNGER PEOPLE WHOSE BONES AND CHEST ARE STILL GROWING. Trans tape i think is less sticky in comparison and stretchier making it safer to use but i still wouldnt call it safe - no method of binding is completely safe, not even binders.
carlandthehumancrab I used to bind with KT Tape (I have an official binder now from GC2B, it works great), and KT even wrote an email about binding with it and the risks and pros. It's completely safe, unless you pull it too tight. In the case of removing it, they suggest removing it in the shower with water, or using baby oil. They also suggest using lotion before sticking it on.
Thank you for all the good information in this video. Also, another tip for those who can't have a binder shipped to their home: Underworks sells their binders through Amazon. This means that if there is an Amazon Locker in your area and you're able to get there, you can order a binder from Amazon, have it shipped to the locker, then pick it up there.
As my doc said today about heat and binding...it's almost Winter! I have to take mine off more frequently because of a scar and asthma. Be kind to yourself...you only get one body!👍
I just get more dysphoric from binding. I’ve never found one that actually flattens my chest that much more than a sports bra and while wearing a binder I can feel my breast so much more as they are pressed against me, preventing me from breathing. While writing this I’m realizing how uncomfortable I am with everything concerning my chest. I hate sports braw straps weighing on my shoulders. I hate being without support and feeling the breasts bumping around. I’m suddenly much surer that surgery is the way to go... thanks. ^^
I haven't tried it, but I've heard that dance tops are a great alternative to a binder or sports bra because they compress more comfortably and it's meant for exercise
i wash my binder in the shower and hang it up on a coat hanger hooked under my desk to dry. i have two binders so i alternate washing them and it works pretty well!!
Not a tip, more of a relatable comment. There's always that moment when its like your first time trying to take off a binder You're alone in your room You do a little wiggle and flail You realize your face is stuck You accept your death The moment you give up it pops off with no effort
Before and after I bind I do certain breathing patterns so once I get into it i can deal with the compression a bit better and this really helped when I first started binding but everyone has different experiences with it, and if yoy do have problems with it I usually try breathing with my diaphram so my chest won't get pushed out and hurt too much
I've also heard doing a few solid coughs after taking it off is helpful. Not sure on the science there so I didn't put it in the video, but it probably can't hurt, right?
with binding companies - for british/ European people there is a company just starting out called spectrum outfitters. Ive heard that they are basically as good as gc2b with binding and comfort so it is worth researching them a bit as the shipping is cheaper and UK people wont have to pay the hidded custom charge that gc2b basically cheat with
lmao what a coincidence, my gc2b binder just came in today!!!! i love it so much! it flattens really well and is really breathable!!! if you can, i would definitely recommend you getting a gc2b binder!!! :-))
To add with the hiding your chest while stealth- use patterns! I find when I’m out without a binder on, my plaid button ups are the best shirts to camouflage my chest even when not binding. Preferred not vertical stripes, and make sure the shirt is a size bigger, it tends to help mask the chest! (But also I have a smaller chest, like a A/B? Idk what the size actually is.... So take from this what you will)
I wear binders from Underworks, and I love them! Recently bought one of their swimming binders and I like it, but it is difficult to get off when damp, I usually take it off when showering after swimming as it seems easier to take off when wet as opposed to damp. A lot of people have commented not to wear a binder when sleeping and I agree. I would add (seems obvious but adding it anyway) don't wear a binder when sick, especially if you have a cough. It's possible to injure yourself this way!
I was just looking for giveaways or ways to obtain a binder with no ways to get one yourself. This is perfect timing. Thank you so much for this opportunity and you're an actual saint. I've always loved you and your channel; I wish the absolute best for you and everything you have coming up. Thank you for all the tips and tricks. 💖💖💖
I'm way too young to afford and discreetly get a binder so what I did was get one of my sports bras and take out the cups. I put it on but it did nothing so I flipped it over and folded the back and sewed it to make it a little bit tighter and it worked pretty well! Definetly not completely flat but it's a great start! Also to clean it, that shower idea was genius!I'll definitely be doing that!
Haha. Getting my first binder, I used a piece of string to measure my chest and then approximated it against a notebook which I knew the measurement of. My first binder was also bought from a Visa giftcard.
My friend is a saint...she said that for my Christmas/Birthday present she would get me a binder...my parents don't approve and her mom does! Her mom is like my other mom not joking!! I love her so much omgggggg i'm literally in tears right now. 0.0
One thing that has helped me while working out is just going in the early morning or late at night, it make me feel better because there are less people at those times. Good Luck!!!
I’d watched this video multiple times already for hope and stuff when i was feeling down even though i didn’t have a binder, but i just got my first binder at models of pride yesterday. Thank you so much for all the information especially now that i can actually use it!
I wore my new binder the first time today, struggled to get it on, but getting it off, it was HELL. I was panicking that I couldn't get it off, turns out that my technique should be different (I found that pushing it up to the top of my chest and pulling it over my back and shoulders from the back of it and then getting it off was the only thing that worked)
Also, Jackson, thanks to you I've figured out my binder size!! I had to MacGyver it a little bit, but I figured out my size. Now hopefully I can actually get one somehow heh
I used to use an ace bandage too; over an undershirt to keep it in place. It didn't slip down, but there were times I definitely ended the day with sore ribs, so would not recommend xP I'm so grateful to have a real binder now.
I don’t think KT Tape is super unsafe if you know what you’re doing, but if you’re going to try it don’t be like me and just wing it. One, it didn’t really work for my chest size (I’m about a c cup, or a small in gc2b binders). Two, I took it off the same day I put it on in the shower and it took a bit of my skin off with it, and now I have a lovely scar that I had to somehow explain to my parents. If you’re going to try KT Tape please please please do your research!! I don’t want to discourage more diy methods because I know that’s really all some people can manage, but please just be careful!
Thank you SO much! I have DID and some of us aren't girls, so I am thinking about binding for some time. These tips are awsome! It's hard to find tips. I know, you made this for trans people, but because the guys have lots of disphoria, they simply Do not front and this is bad, because they have been in my life forever and to work out life without them is simply ... impossible.
My teenage daughter sent me a link to this video... I personally think she's really too young to do anything of the kind without taking unnecessary risks in terms of health, not to mention the fact that she might end-up having regrets... But I'm happy she found someone other than me to highlight the pros and cons of binding. When warnings come from a parent, one is often tempted to think it's just that parent trying to control their lives... At least, now I know a little bit more about binding compared to what I knew before and should my kid still think it a necessity in a year, I'll be better equipped to help her with getting what she needs. Thanks for the information!
Hey Jack! I met you at GeekyCon a couple of years ago but unfortunately wasn’t out and couldn’t tell you in person how much your videos mean to me. You inspire and encourage me to be myself, give me confidence in my body and identity, and gave me representation of myself before I even realized it was missing. I just want to say thanks for being you and more specifically for being willing to share yourself online with us. It really, truly helps. Thank you.
Happy to have found a video guide about anything related to binding. I'm non-binary trans, buying my first binder from GC2B hopefully today. I've been using ace wraps in the past year and a half or so, which I know isn't safe just like you mentioned. I've even tried to one or 2 sizes to small bra/tank top method. That one works a bit better, especially with how active of a person I am. But I really do want an actual binder since they're safer. Edit: I'm really anxious about getting it in the mail, tbh. Been in the closet as LGBTQIA+ since I was 13, so 5 years now. Living with my conservative family still makes the fact I'm ordering one a little nerve-wracking, as happy as I am about it.
I haven't used a binder yet. I use sports bra instead, of course I'm a small enough chest size. At school, I wear a jacket that's about twice my size over a larger shirt. It helps me to not feel dysphoric. And yes, wearing anything that binds your chest hurts you when you work out. I have gym class everyday I'm school and I now change in the bathroom so I don't wear my tighter sports bras during the period I'm working out in. My teachers were super accepting when I explain that I wear things I have to take off before working out.
Omg you probably just saved my life I recently started really stressing out because (yes I have a flat chest so I thought no one could it it.) someone at the store said "would you like that plastic or paper, MA'AM" and I started using duct-tape to bind. Thank you for informing me that that is not safe.
Dang! This came out 2 years ago. I was going to apply for the binder give away. Well, I will just have to wait till I am older. Thank you for the tips, too! (:
I don't has binder, so I just stack a bunch of undershirts on top of each other, but before that I was going to use bandages until I saw this video! Thanks for the warning! :)
Thanks Jackson! Lots of great tips. Someone may have mentioned this already ( as this comment is years later) , but putting baby powder on before putting binder on can help.
This is a really helpful video since I'm looking for a binder right now (and I've been trying to exercise more recently). so it's good to know what options are available and recommended. 😊
I've never seen anyone on youtube talk about them but Shapeshifters is another binder company that's really great! You can get any kind of pattern you can imagine, and they're tailored to your measurements, in addition to doing some things for free, like wider or thiner straps, flaring out the bottom so it doesn't roll up as much, etc. They cost a bit more and take longer (I believe they're down to 3 week turn around time) because of the varied patterns and the custom make, but if you get from their normal stock they're not that much more expensive than GC2B. They also do monthly giveaways usually only one or two, in addition to having a fund people can donate to for extra giveaways.
I’ve used bandages before and it was really painful. It got so bad one time where I almost passed out and was struggling to get it off. Luckily I’m still here, alive, and my trans friend gave me one of his old binder so I’m really grateful. I’ve also tried multiple sports bras and couldn’t breath....
Based on the recommendation on this video, the first binder I got was Flavnt. Within 5 days it was useless. When I mentioned on some of the FTM Facebook groups I am in that I used Flavnt, everyone was horrified. Apparently they have a very bad reputation. Today my first GC2B binder was delivered, and so far is seems much better made than the Flavnt, and quite comfortable.
I was watching this video the day before i got my binder ( i got it last week) and i thought it was gonna be super hard to put it on and i had a friend standing outside just in case i got stuck... And i didnt need any help! i just put it on and laughed cuz i got it on in like 30 seconds.. so yeah
If you are in France on the 24th of September there is a binder try on + sale at the lesbian bar La Mutinerie, if you are French you know shipping costs are ridiculous so it's a nice way to find the right size for you and avoid prohibitive shipping
A plastic storage bin (dollar store) is a great tool for incognito clothes washing. It can be hidden on the fly if your interrupted, It's easy to explain and disguise, and you can dry your clothing above it in the closet to catch any drippings. Do be careful and get a sturdy bucket, the flimsier ones can break and warp with hot water.
I literally just got my first(correct fitting) binder from a give away today!!! I feel so much better in this one and can breathe and move without pain. I wanna say that like the Visa card idea, gc2b does amazon pay!(I know amazon sucks but if it’s all you have, it’s a really good idea!) So if you have an amazon card from a holiday or anything like that, you can buy it from there!!!
I use an old swimming costume cut and folded (it doesn't bind as well but is safer to exercise in as the material ext is meant to be used when exercising) for PE and stuff
I’ve used KT tape before and now I use transtape. It definitely is risky in terms of skin damage, if you’re not careful, but it’s been a lifesaving for me. I can’t really wear my gc2b anymore because of back/neck/shoulder pain and sometimes it makes me anxiety worse bc of the chest compression. Transtape is the only thing that keeps me sane. If you’re in a similar boat, search the r/ftm subreddit - or feel free to ask me any questions!!
Small tip: if you have transphobic legal guardians, ask for a back brace. A back brace can be used as a substitute for a binder, but may I warn it will take just a little longer to get used to. I’m currently wearing one, an at first it seems comfortable, but I’m pretty sure it’ll have the effects in a few hours
I usually bring a sports bra with me in my backpack!
I bind with layered sport bras (I know it's bad but I'm closeted and can't get a binder) so if I feel like it hurts or gets uncomfortable I just take all except one off and put them in my back pack and leave that one because I can't walk just walk around with no bra on
Thanks from a baby trans
“Don’t bind while exercising”
Bold of you to assume I exercise
Bailey Anne haha same
Lol
lmao sameee-
XD
Lol,same
My family doesn’t approve of my gender identity or binding... during lockdown I won a giveaway and honestly it made me so happy.
That's amazing !!!
Your family loves you more than some internet channel making money off of you ever, ever could. Trust your family.
@@lahair5751 you'd be surprised. But I don't think gaslighting, narcissism, racism and LGBTQ phobia are reasons to trust someone.
@@lahair5751 not if your mom is transphobic
I think if your fam doesn’t approve u then just approve your self
@A M. You are not understanding the struggle
@A M. the struggle is know what you look like inside and not seeing that in a mirror, having a creepy feeling when boobs touch, looking down and seeing a butt crack instead of a cleavage, feeling the weight of them each day in a way that self mutilation might cross the mind to feel normal, I'm not trying to argue about it I'm just trying to inform you that a double mastectomy is a waaaaay better option than self mutilation to feel normal in your own eye. couple of tips i didnt see mentioned:
1. take "off days" if possible; its healthier to have one day in your week where you don't wear your binder at all.
(and also if i needed to take a nap on campus on one of the library couches)
7. doing simple stretches before and after wearing your binder may alleviate some aching and stiffness. even if you dont know any yoga or warm up exercises or whatever, maybe google search some lower back and shoulder stretches/ i didn't even realize how much i'd been powering through until a friend showed me a few zen yoga twist poses and was like??????? this actually feels a lot better man.
Instant androgeny at worst, and partially masculine at best.
idk if this is a thing, but this deserves to be on the underrated comments video
Not all librarys have couches but thx for the tips!
thank you for this!!
@¿Meko? ¿Blade? yeah me too! i personally dont mind if i look a lot younger wearing baggy/oversized clothes if its more comfy! depending on ur job/lifestyle i could understand wanting to look 'mature' tho. plus there are a lot of styles these days with that in mind so in the right fit you wont always look like a teen boy in ur 20/30s lol
TAKE IT OFF IF IT HURTS
YESS!!!! LISTEN TO YOUR BODY IF YOU CANT BREATH OFF IT GOES
YES
YOU CAN NEVER STRESS THIS ENOUGH
FOR WASHING/DRYING BINDERS SECRETLY:
Washing:
I sometimes will take a super quick shower and then get out of the shower but leave the shower on while I wash my binder in the sink. I usually take pretty long showers (30-45 mins) so it’s less suspicious for me to be “in the shower” for half an hour while I’m really washing my binder.
Drying:
I tend to put my binder on a hanger and hide it between clothes in my closet. Be careful!
I do all the laundry in my house and my binder is pretty good with being machine washable so I just do that
Ok but you really shouldn't shower that long for a multitude of reasons.
If you have a metal radiator in your bedroom you can hang the binder between the radiator and the wall with magnets to dry. It can't be seen unless you look directly down the back of the radiator while standing over it.
JustJ8 uh
That’s how long I usually shower wtf

I wear children's sports bras that are two or three sizes too small and my lungs say: "NO GOD HELP-" okay I'm just gonna ignore that for now uh-

i love the "if youre white" at 6:55-
as an african american i could not stop laughing at this- my grandma took me bra shopping a few years back and i had to argue with her that "a white bra is way more see-through in white shirts than black one" and it took her a *very* long time to realize why.
On the topic of swim binders:
Underworks do make a swim binder, i have no experience with this but it is something you could try.
You can actually swim in normal underworks binders as well because it's made out of the same stuff swimsuits are made of.
Just-
*takes a screenshot*
There we go-
Can you use swim binder as a normal binder I really like swimming but I don’t want to spend money on something I will only use in the summer
I have gc2b binder and it come with a card that says it's safe to swim in but to go a size up.
I think you can also swim in flavnt binders
The media in my area has been airing a lot hate and I just spent an hour looking at my ceiling, crying and feeling all the body feels. Thank you for being here.

idk if this is obvious or not , but never sleep in your binder either . like , idk if you wanna take a nap or something , but if you do - definitely take your binder off before doing it . if you sleep in a binder , you can really damage yourself and it will be very hard to breathe after you wake up .
I was told that using sports bras were okay because they weren't as constricting. I guess I'm glad to have that cleared up now though, thanks
Startled Starfish I believe wearing one that fits you well is okay but some are designed for short term use only.
The bra itself might not be constricting but the band is. If you put more than two sports bras on it starts getting really uncomfortable and you can feel them digging into your ribs
Ah okay, thank you
Definitely designed for short-term use. That band is killer on ribs. If you size up, you should be able to wear it all day, though. It won't flatten as well, but some flattening is better than none, and far superior to permanent damage to your body.
One sports bra is fine, but some people layer several on top of each other to get more constriction. That's unsafe.
6 ! Thanks I didn't think of that ❤
Try to find non-gendered brands where you live OR find clothes that simply don’t say “man” or “woman” on them and buy them without your mom if possible.
"When I was in the depths of dysphoria, I would find any excuse not to move forward with things that were ultimately going to make my happier and healthier."
WOW, that was like the lightning-bolt call-out I needed to hear, thank you.
Several brands make "compression sports bras" and they work great for smaller chests.
Ooh that might be useful for mee! Good thing I have sort of a small chest
My mum literally said to me today “clothes shouldnt be gendered” and she bought me a playstation hoodie from the “boys” section and i almost cried when i got it :’)
yo thats so swaggy!! (i think at least)
@@milesworld426 it is swaggy!! :D

Hello Jake Peralta reference at the beginning, I wasn't expecting to see you here.
No doubt no doubt no doubt
@@nikhansen8775 especially if they're old fashioned

How long did it take for you to get your binder?
I found my new favorite label! Trans-masculine-ish.
Great!
You're a saint
And what a wonderful saint!
I hope not! You can’t be sainted until you’re dead
Binder tips that I use bc my dysphoria is so freaking bad:
*Washing:* I usually start to run some lukewarm water in the sink and stick my binder in.
And it’s a trans owned and run business too :-)
Also you can look up MORPH binder scheme in the U.K. and ask for their catalogue, they collect and rehome used or old binders and only ask that you pay postage generally. Otherwise you might find some being sold for slightly less than retail price in trans masc Facebook groups or free at trans and queer clothes swaps and the like so that might be an option
Bruh I’ve been watching your videos for over a month and I just realized I wasn't subscribed
I am disappointed in myself
Haha xD
They also suggest using lotion before sticking it on.
then i switched to a black binder... BECAUSE I'M GOTH
Im emo trans guy fjdgsfsfsds
Really?? Where can they be sold and how much do they cost
i wash my binder in the shower and hang it up on a coat hanger hooked under my desk to dry. i have two binders so i alternate washing them and it works pretty well!!

Not a tip, more of a relatable comment.
There's always that moment when its like your first time trying to take off a binder
You're alone in your room
You do a little wiggle and flail
You realize your face is stuck
You accept your death
The moment you give up it pops off with no effort
SEA HAWK
T^T that's me
Before and after I bind I do certain breathing patterns so once I get into it i can deal with the compression a bit better and this really helped when I first started binding but everyone has different experiences with it, and if yoy do have problems with it I usually try breathing with my diaphram so my chest won't get pushed out and hurt too much
I've also heard doing a few solid coughs after taking it off is helpful. Not sure on the science there so I didn't put it in the video, but it probably can't hurt, right?
I'll try it, it couldn't do any harm (:
Thanks for the English subtitles! I'm not a native English speaker so they're so helpful
with binding companies - for british/ European people there is a company just starting out called spectrum outfitters.
how are you now? (2 years later)
So take from this what you will)
How the frick am I supposed to do this in PE?
I HAVE TO CHANGE IN FRONT

"I'm getting really hot" were you not already?
I'm way too young to afford and discreetly get a binder so what I did was get one of my sports bras and take out the cups. I put it on but it did nothing so I flipped it over and folded the back and sewed it to make it a little bit tighter and it worked pretty well! Definetly not completely flat but it's a great start! Also to clean it, that shower idea was genius!I'll definitely be doing that!
Outplay also makes swim tops that are essentially swim binders.

If they are binding they probably don't identify as a girl because they experience dysphoria just saying
Sorry I have to submit twice cos I got something wrong hope ok really need and would love the binder x
You're good! I just won't count you twice when I randomly generate a winner.

Living with my conservative family still makes the fact I'm ordering one a little nerve-wracking, as happy as I am about it.
my binder is sposed to b here tomorrow, in hella excited
I actually got my binder from a friend, he had an extra binder and let me use it. I’m extremely grateful
You can wear GC2B binders in water. They are made of swim safe material. As well as spectrum outfitters binder.
My friend bought me one thank god

What's the safest way to bind if you don't have a binder?
I've been doing the sports bra method and even doing the Camisol method.
What's the Camisol method?
That is so awesome It's so great so many trans youtubers are doing giveaways!
I’ve used bandages before and it was really painful. It got so bad one time where I almost passed out and was struggling to get it off. Luckily I’m still here, alive, and my trans friend gave me one of his old binder so I’m really grateful. I’ve also tried multiple sports bras and couldn’t breath....

off topic, but what's your bracelet, Jack? I think watch, but I'd love to see it in detail
I know this is an older video, but I just ordered my first binder and I'm so excited about it😍
Sports bras are actually okay, just no more than three. It wont make you completely flat, but with the correct clothing choice, it will work
Two sports bras do a fairly good job if they both fit snugly - at least this option has been a life changer for me!
Jamie Bisson I’ve been using Flavnt binders for a year and they work perfectly and are very comfortable. I’ve only heard good things about them!
I was watching this video the day before i got my binder ( i got it last week) and i thought it was gonna be super hard to put it on and i had a friend standing outside just in case i got stuck... And i didnt need any help! i just put it on and laughed cuz i got it on in like 30 seconds.. so yeah

I just bought my first binder and my heart is still pounding
