I am having trouble with vray while rendering any animation. For the first 10-15 frames everything is fine frames are taking around 1 minute on average then I start to get a warning on the vray log window saying num samples per thread reduced to 327170, rendering light be slower then next frame reduced to 276348 then on and on until it reaches 32768 and at that point my renders are taking 10-20x as long each frame to complete then the first 10. This is happening when I render using rtx and cuda mode, doesn’t happen when using cpu. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated thanks.
Sir..which vray version is used in this video... because under the option renderer I couldn't find cuda , cpu, gpu... It only shows interactive, progressive, gpu acceleration and quality
thank u Alex very helpful video . I think is 3dsMax Vray is more powerfull than Sketchup, Also my main issue with vray that I can't have a sharp detailed edges of my render ( which I cleary see in 3dsMax render) . any tips beacuse Im realy confused and tried everything in the other right menu!😢
You're welcome! I recommend the most recent versions of SketchUp Pro and V-Ray for SketchUp which you can find on their websites (SketchUp: sketchup.com/plans-and-pricing/sketchup-pro, V-Ray for SketchUp: www.chaos.com/vray/sketchup)
Hey Alex! Your videos have been super helpful! I’m thinking about switching from windows to Apple and was wondering how sketchup and vray work for you on apple and what device you’d recommend?
SketchUp and V-Ray for SketchUp work well for me on a Mac. But, you should know, when it comes to creating photorealistic renderings with V-Ray, the fastest set-up would be a PC with an NVIDIA GPU - Macs don't have GPUs that can help when it comes to shortening rendering times. If you do decide to go with a Mac, you should get something with the new M1 chip to have something as fast as possible.
Hi there, I have been looking for the answer to a question, but I guess I don't have enough knowledge or skill about software to find my answer. I hope you guys or any other experts can help me to answer this question: In terms of realism, clarity, depth, or overall quality, is there a difference between Sketchup V-Ray and 3ds Max V-Ray renderings? Please help, if I can find the answer, I will have an idea of what direction I should keep going. I am good in Sketchup and learning V-Ray rending within it, but somehow I feel like others working with 3ds Max +V-Ray is always ahead! I am not sure if it is only about personal skills, or actually the difference between the two software.. Thanks a lot !
I added this reply in the other channel where you posted the same question (but wanted to add it here too so that you don't miss it): Hi Azad - technically, you can get very similar results out of either SketchUp or 3DS Max when it comes to using V-Ray to create the renderings. 3DS Max does come with more tools to make more detailed 3D models (whereas in SketchUp, you have to add extensions to get similar results), so I am guessing that some of the realism that you feel is lacking in SketchUp is due to the models being less detailed than those you see in 3DS Max renderings.
Help!!! Hi Alex. I'm from Greece and I'm learning sketchup now. I have a problem with Vray with materials. I right clicked and closed them and now I can't find them anywhere. You can help me;
HI! Just want to ask this. I recently moved my rendering works to Macbook Pro from Windows. Is there any other way to have a smooth rendering? I cant open the vray setting on sketchup + vray and now the model is black now. I'm using vray and sketchup through paralles windows. Hope anyone would help me.
Yes, rendering animations can take a while - each frame is the same as rendering a single image... so 1 minute per rendered frame is actually pretty fast.
When I render with Vray - SketchUp the GPU power draw only reaches 200W barely under full load. Which is very little compared to when doing benchmarks. Why is it drawing so little power even under full load? I also barely get faster renders than my RTX 2080.
We have a full course that teaches you everything you need to know about V-Ray for SketchUp. It's included in our Video Course Library which you can learn more about here: www.sketchupschool.com/video-course-library

Sketchup not responding. This drive me nuts
Will this now work on Macbook Pro with M3 since they've added Real Time Ray Trace?
V-Ray for SketchUp already works on existing Macs, but the new M3 chip will be theoretically able to speed up render times significantly.
very helpful thanks
You're welcome!
Thanks a lot for your videos. this helps a lot. Can you please make a video on post-production for interior and exterior

Hey does sketchup pro (350$) include vray5 in the price ?
No. SketchUp Studio ($699/year) includes V-Ray for SketchUp in the price.
anyone please explain me to set frame view before render in SketchUp?

Idk why my render time is like 1 frame per minute is that normal?
Yes, rendering animations can take a while - each frame is the same as rendering a single image... so 1 minute per rendered frame is actually pretty fast.
