- Here's an F1 onboard lap at the Anderstorp Raceway, previously known as the Scandinavian Raceway in Anderstorp, Sweden. This lap is driven in Assetto Corsa with Danish and Scandinavian Formula 1 driver Kevin Magnussen in his F1 2020 Haas VF-20 challenger (RSS Formula Hybrid 2020).
The Anderstorp Raceway opened in 1968, and hosted the Formula 1 Swedish Grand Prix for six years between 1973 and 1978.
The circuit is 4.025km (2.501 miles) and currently has an FIA Grade 2 certification.
The track was previously known as the Scandinavian Raceway, and to date has been the only Nordic host of a Formula One World Championship Grand Prix.
In more recent years, international motorsport was planned to return here in 2020 with a round of the DTM but was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Great track this is and what's makes it better is that the layout has never been changed
apart from the start finish straight which has been moved to the corner before the original finish straight all is very well for this magnificent Swedish race track

It hasent came to Sweden in three years since your comment was posted I dont think it ever will in the future. This track for me seems like such boring shorth F1 track. Its very poor track for overtaking, because the car infront will just park their car on the inside and so the car behind has no chance for overtaking then around these big boring balls. I wouldnt call this track magnificent at all, when its one of the most boring simple F1 tracks I have ever seen in my life. Sweden is not racing country. Is lgbtq country.🇸🇪🏳️🌈😂
The FIA should add a new track in Scandinavia, cause that’d be sick!

Roger Dodger Finland should get their own GP, if anything just for all the drivers that have come from there. Probably the best country relative to its size. It’s like the equivalent of North Carolina here in the USA with the disproportionate number of good drivers that come from it

Ahvenisto in neighboring Finland has also never changed. The layout has been exactly the same since 1967.

Sure it has. Several times.
Both corners after the long straight has been remodelled a couple of times. It used to be way faster. Look at onboard laps from the 70’s
The first right hander after the long straight used to be a top gear corner. Then for 1975 I think, they added a chicane. I beloeve it was because a horrible accident in a F5000 race in front of the grandstands.
1978 is close to what it looks like today.
i love the way every corner is either aggressively bumpy, aggressively banked, or both
I think this track is too shorth and poor for overtaking, because it has way too many balls where the car infront will just park the car on inside and so the car behind has no chance overtaking, when the car infront parks the car on inside.
this is actually my hometown track, the bumps in the last turn + after starting line are not there irl, the banks are there
As a curious fact, when the circuit was used in F1, the original start line was at the little straight before the double hairpin (0:32 to be exact), because the main straight they use now was too short
It’s still too short, the difference is that now we don’t care about it.

Have you done Autopolis before? If you haven't, that's probably my next suggestion, with either Albon or Tsunoda. My favorite Japanese track, even better than Suzuka or Fuji (at least for me).

I visited the track this summer and it looks like the old fashioned way. A track form the good old days...
But its poor track nowdays for overtaking, because the car infront will just park the car on the inside of the corner, while going around the big borinh ball, so it gives no chance for the car behind to overtake at all.
Yes, because it was canceled from F1 since 1978 season after Ronnie Peterson's death happened the 11th of September of the same year in Italy
Man... I miss this track back when I played gtr2 doing challenge things. Struggling so much that I waste many time on this track to pass the challenge lmao. Btw great video, mate! I cant imagine how hard to drive a modern F1 car around this circuit without tcs in it lol
Honestly wasn't too bad after figuring out the right amount of throttle while going through the turns, but I do admit I spun out a lot while practicing due to the lack of TC
Yeah. Maybe due to my fat leg, I couldn't calculate how much pressure i just pushed on the throttle. Also I just bought a steering wheel earlier this week and this is my first time using it and A lot struggles driving with it. Maybe I can practice more on putting a throttle pressure later after the exam next week. x
@@m.andhikasyahputra7887 Getting used to the wheel takes a while my friend, took me a few months before I was able to get better at it. Play with a few assists to begin with and then slowly turn them off, i feel like it would help

I played this track on race 07 and gtr 2 and I always found the second to last corner infuriating

Great lap! I thought this track was smaller than it really is. And the start finish straight is very short. Would it fit an entire grid on it or would some cars have to start at the last corner? Sweden is a country with great racers who have gone through the biggest categories of motorsport in the world, and in my opinion it deserved to have a better and more suitable racetrack to host F1! Congratulations MITSOS, almost 7k subscribers! Keep up the beautiful work!

The first ten rows of the grid at Anderstorp are still on the straight The current F1 grid would start on the straight, but the moment the grid were to increase above 20 cars there would be problems. Back in the days of the Swedish Grand Prix, start/finish was on the straight between turns 3 and 4, so the pit lane would be halfway around the lap. I asked myself what it would take to bring Anderstorp up to FIA Grade 1 standards after watching this video because I love the circuit. A few things: 1) start/finish would have to move and a new pitlane built 2) completely line the circuit with barriers as it currently only has barriers in some places 3) larger runoff areas 4) better access roads. After messing around in Photoshop with an aerial image of the circuit, I am pretty sure those changes are possible to a certain degree.

Track thing, some are smoother than others. I dont know how accurate the bumps are compared to real life though

Except that this track was built in the early 1970:s when these tracks still waited to be born
I love the whole idea of driving all sorts of different tracks with this car, but you really should pay attention to how you use your upshifts and downshifts. It really ruins immersion hear the engine go up to almost overspeed RPM.

They did between 1973-1978. I think the changes involved in making Scandinavian Raceway FIA Grade 1 would be substantial, plus there is noise complaints to deal with aswell in the vicinity of the track. I drove on it both in 2000 and 2004. It's a quite flat but fun track to race, some semi quick turns that are quite fun to do.

Anderstorp is a classic track
The layout never changed since 1968
Anderstorp Raceway hosted the Swedish GP from 1973 to 1978
It has changed, in some details, the start and finish straight has changed location, from it`s original location between turns 3 and 4, also the right hand corner after the long straight used to be much faster, it was later changed to this tight right hander for safety reasons.
Bono my tires are dead and I the race have not strarted yet.
