It's hard to believe that sound is made using just cellos and a drummer. Normally when you think of heavy metal music, you don't normally think of a cello; it's not the first thing that comes to your mind. And the sound of distortion isn't typically associated with cellos, you'd typically hear that sound with guitars. So it's awesome to hear distortion being utilized on another instrument other than a guitar. Also, why in the world am I just now hearing this song! I've heard several songs from Apocolyptica and this is by far the heaviest song I've heard from them!
This song was the first time ever hearing Joe Duplantier! I since looked him up and discovered the MIGHTY GOJIRA!!! Gojira been in my top 3-5 since Lenfant Sauvage!
I used to listen to this song all the time as a kid and thought I was such a poser for listening to stuff I obviously didn't understand or couldn't relate to or that was filled with teen angst. Looking back, the song has taken on real meaning. When you're a kid, you don't understand the extent of what's happening to you. You think your frustration, anger, disgust, insult, etc. is unwarranted, is just angst. When you're in the midst of abuse as a kid, you don't understand that you're being traumatized or taken advantage of. You just know that you feel bad. I remember listening to this and wanting to ruin my life to really feel like I deserved to feel the way I did because all the gaslighting made me feel like I was pathetic and weak. Growing up, I can't believe I dared let people treat me the way they did. How dare I not stand up for myself? Now that I'm older and stronger and can understand things, I listen to this song and it makes me less afraid to really get angry with the people who tried and still try to convince me that everything is fine. Nothing was ever fine, it won't be fine, and if anyone tells me otherwise, I'm gonna kick ass and take names. Things are going to be different. You can't get away with treating a small, scared kid like pure shit. People like that truly are the scum of the earth: cowardly, sad, small adults, people who don't know what life is all about. I pity them.
So here recently I've been on a Gojira kick and I kept listening to their songs. And I realized while listening to stranded that I've heard Jose vocals on a song before. So on a whim I decided to look this song up and lo and behold
@@nondorian personal opinion, but no. Both have a very different style, and "why not both" Might sound diplomatic but it doesn't always work. It is like pineapple pizza.
This song is my experience in high school in a nutshell, because I was literally called "Dr. S. Laughter" because I couldn't keep myself from making anatomical jokes.
I was just sitting down and started playing this over speakers (not too loud) and my dog immediately runs up to me with her ears pinned back and fear in her eyes and presses up against me and starts frantically licking me. I tried gently petting her and telling her it's okay to no avail. I ended up having to turn it off to calm her down. The song is just that awesome.
He's large and ugly giant monster, headless on my back This urgent haste in my head, materialized in this dark whole world No one can help me there, I know this pain has gone too far The fear is now so loud Kill a child, I'm trying to protect myself Against your old controlled hate Pollution of mind filled all the space and destroyed my light At least mine were never allowed The hardest thing to me is facing the fear I live No one can help me now, it's under my heart I'll come to know the living, my demons are inside I'll bring them all to light I wanted to hate, I wanted to die I wanted to see you sacrifice I had to deal with the fear you gave me But you fucker never tried to help me I was jealous and I was scared Nobody ever replaced my pain To say I'm not evil, to tell I'm not bad Too late, I'm lost in human nature Leave me be Set me free Leave me be Set me free The hardest thing to me is facing the fear I live No one can help me now, it's under my heart I'll come to know the living, my demons are inside I'll bring them all to light Unexpected yet expected, emerged from the dark I come to life You know me, you fear me, always me knocking at your door, always around Insulted, disrespected, return to the dark into this life You know me, you fear me You know me, you fear me You know me, you fear me You know me, you fear me You fear me You fear me The hardest thing to me is facing the fear I live No one can help me now, it's under my heart I'll come to know the living, my demons are inside I'll bring them all to light
this song is....wierd.. when I first started listening I was a bit 'eww too much growling'..but.. I carried on listening... and it kinda grew on me :p proof Apoc are GODTIER awesome, even growling (a style of singing I generally avoid like the frakkin plague) I can tolerate when they're doing their cello thang in the background ;p
@WORLDCOLLIDE Of course not now any voice sings gutual but a truly original voice and unrecognizable and much better than this is the Gavin Rossdale!!!!!
love this track, the Kyo version is okay, but while he has EPIC growling, his actual singing is terribad, he's like 10/10 for growls and 1/10 for singing, so 11/20 overall then Jo is like 7/10 for growls, but also 7/10 for singing so 14/20 overall :P This of course is just my opinion, feel free to think something different..... You're wrong though ;)
lol, this guy is a better singer than Kyo? Nah, Kyo is actually capable of changing his pitch more than a quarter of an octave. Granted, he did choose strange clean vocals for his version of this. His regular singing in DEG is incredible.
Lol Kyo is a progressive genius and Joseph will never be near his level in that field. For this one, it's a matter of perspective and which genre you like. Joseph only has one style of vocal. Kyo mixes it and creates chaos in a good way but dark. Joseph's expression of rage and fury is a more positive expression that Kyo doesn't like to do.
+Rising Moon I searched "Brushed Away 2" on RUclips and found nothing, then googled it and only found a My Little Pony gay fanfiction. Was this song seriously in a My Little Pony gay fanfiction? What? How? I don't even...
Lol cause you barely know Dir en grey. They're extremely different almost every song. You only listened to few of their songs, don't talk about them. And you'll never know why.
They started as a Metallica tribute band, so they definitely know hard metal. And they like to occasionally dabble in really hardcore stuff so... you are incorrect :) They don't have a set style. It's one of the reasons they're an excellent group.
Came here for Joe, got Joe, I'm happy :D
This along with "Broken Pieces" are the best off this record. Amazing.
Joe is a great musician.
Joe Duplantier is a great vocalist.
Singer of Gojira
Apocalyptica has made so much amazing music, but En Vie and Bring Them To Light have to be my favorite songs from them
Why can't I stop listening to this song!! I bought this album from a local music store and have had this song on loop ever since!!!!
I am here because Gojira
+mauno Q yes . me too
I found Gojira because of this :D
So you're here because of the best band in the world
Gojira and Apocalyptica should go on tour together
yes please!
oh Joe, you with your amazing talent and beautiful voice....I can hear the whales calling from here!!!
Been a Gojira fan for so many years!
2:02 is like an alarm for more epicness to come *Headbangs*

Drums sound like Dave Lombardo on this track. And yes this song lyrics really fits Joe's vocals well! Sick track!
Well kids. this is what I get for not reading Descriptions....Because it fucking is Dave on the kit here. I'm dumb lol wow.
This song was the first time ever hearing Joe Duplantier! I since looked him up and discovered the MIGHTY GOJIRA!!! Gojira been in my top 3-5 since Lenfant Sauvage!
Same here!!!
Yeah they should do a ten hour version of this. I'm serious I'd definitely listen to that all the way through.
His vocals are the perfect amount of crunch :)

More comments like this on the internet will make it really useful place! very good taste in music too! How are you doing nowdays? hope good, cheers.
The best song of the album, I usually don't like the vocalist on their song but this one is amazing.
Well if you haven't already go check out Gojira, the vocalist in this song is from this amazing French band ^^
I like this song with vocal of Kyo from Dir en grey
So here recently I've been on a Gojira kick and I kept listening to their songs. And I realized while listening to stranded that I've heard Jose vocals on a song before. So on a whim I decided to look this song up and lo and behold
Joe's* stupid voice to text
The heaviest matt... cellos of the universe
Also, Apocalyptica should release a song with Dero Goi solo :_)
It'd be incredible without a doubt!
and thos has cello's in it......flipping heck there's a new definition of heavy in my head...
Joe what a voice
anything he is in just adds so much more to the music.
Whoa! Some thrash metal... That's cool!
Thrash not trash
Varg Vikernes Thanks for the correction, mate!
vickytaspartan I think its death metal in this song not thrash
Maybe actually it would be more Groove metal style
@@jarocari_0693 they said in a track by track commentary video for this song that they wrote this with it being like early Sepultura.
Joe fits the track better than Kyo did, but kyo did an amazing job as always. Wish there were two version.
Jeff Race I think kyo would’ve sounded better recorded though. Hard to compare them when only joe is recorded
Why not have tham as a duo? I think both together would sound great
@@nondorian personal opinion, but no. Both have a very different style, and "why not both" Might sound diplomatic but it doesn't always work.
It is like pineapple pizza.
You've never really listened to Dir En Grey have you? Kyo has the widest range of vocals I have ever heard.
hahaha
You've listened to very little music..
This song is my experience in high school in a nutshell, because I was literally called "Dr. S. Laughter" because I couldn't keep myself from making anatomical jokes.
Awesome drummer
JOE DUPLANTIER!!!!!
So happy I found this song, LETS FUCKING GO JOSEPH
from 4:18 to 4:33 is beatiful and so warm and sad: for me rappresent the last breath and the last think in the own life
this song is just wow , the made a good choice to add joe in this album ;)
Gojira goes thrash goes symphonic
I am proud to be the 44,444th viewer of this video.

best song of apocalyptica
Very Good from Japan!!
ho yea i love this song \m/
This song is damn heavy.
The best song of the album
his voice while scream"o" still has great timbre and is really good singing it's one of the few scream voices that I love
but joe's not screamo?
@@tss1473 yes, he is but there is a clean core that comes through, not just a wall of yelling.
@@Selkirk69 there's a scream but there's definitely no emo
esta rola esta bien chida :)
the voice enorme
It's Joe Duplantier from Gojira
@mistertoffeetruck
he is such a wonderful vocalist.... this is the very best apocalyptica have ever done..... by a country mile
I'm glad i clicked
YOU KNOW MEE! YOU FEEL MEEEEE!!
*fear
Amazing song
this is just awesome. \m/
@MikyWrita yeah
he's just perfect! his vocal is waaaaaaaah *O*
OH yeah! well I like it from 0:00 to 4:43 !!
Best weight lifting song ever!!!!!!!!
i love the part at 4:17 a lot.
"Materialized" is signature Joe lyrics lol
i cant help headbanging 2:10
He's large and ugly giant monster, headless on my back
This urgent haste in my head, materialized in this dark whole world
No one can help me there, I know this pain has gone too far
The fear is now so loud
Kill a child, I'm trying to protect myself
Against your old controlled hate
Pollution of mind filled all the space and destroyed my light
At least mine were never allowed
The hardest thing to me is facing the fear I live
No one can help me now, it's under my heart
I'll come to know the living, my demons are inside
I'll bring them all to light
I wanted to hate, I wanted to die
I wanted to see you sacrifice
I had to deal with the fear you gave me
But you fucker never tried to help me
I was jealous and I was scared
Nobody ever replaced my pain
To say I'm not evil, to tell I'm not bad
Too late, I'm lost in human nature
Leave me be
Set me free
Leave me be
Set me free
The hardest thing to me is facing the fear I live
No one can help me now, it's under my heart
I'll come to know the living, my demons are inside
I'll bring them all to light
Unexpected yet expected, emerged from the dark I come to life
You know me, you fear me, always me knocking at your door, always around
Insulted, disrespected, return to the dark into this life
You know me, you fear me
You know me, you fear me
You know me, you fear me
You know me, you fear me
You fear me
You fear me
The hardest thing to me is facing the fear I live
No one can help me now, it's under my heart

yo listen to gojira ruclips.net/p/OLAK5uy_mO7vgn-qpAXFI3QfETxHMetOvJgS5tAuE
fucking awesome! wow what a rush!
Proly the only vocal theme from Apocalyptica I like
This is nice. Do the last albums by the band sound like this? It is very "simpheavy"
I would eat out the violin
Am I the only one who thinks that Joe's vocals are waay too intense for this song????? It's like the song isn't heavy enough...
Joe's vocals match the mood depicted by the music itself and the meaning of the lyrics, it literally fits perfectly.
Alex Koinski no.
Fantastic rebuttal
i think he fits the song perfectly
my favorite part of the song: 2:02-3:28
Me too
what about Maximum the Hormone :p they did the intro/outro to Death Note!
GOJIRA!!!!... errr I mean APOCALYPTICA!!!... No I didn't, I definitely meant GOJIRA!!!
4:33 is horrible because it ends.
Strange... Black my dog did the same and ran away... lmao love this song tho!!
@mrsmileyface543211 sounds more like death metal vocals don't you think?
@WORLDCOLLIDE Of course not
now any voice sings gutual
but a truly original voice and unrecognizable and much better than this is the Gavin Rossdale!!!!!
Yeah after 4:33 it just sorta gets boring. I usually set it back to 0:00 so I can listen to the good part again.
Coooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool
@AntiJonasZone oh i see what you did there, you put that you liked 0:00 to 4:33, and thats when the song ends, 4:33. youre so smart mang.
kyo just did growling on the live version
Kyo knew real damn good about what would be best for "live".
love this track, the Kyo version is okay, but while he has EPIC growling, his actual singing is terribad, he's like 10/10 for growls and 1/10 for singing, so 11/20 overall

It seems like you never heard Kyo when singing. just give him 1/10 from watching this video just bad idea dude.
But it still ends haha but that would be good
Man I bought this album right after the release and I never listened to this song.
Kyo sang this song so much better >_>
@LordDemacia u should see a doctor for that ..
really whats your least favorite part? :D
Kyo from king of fighters?
What it's remind's me ov Venom's ,,Black Metal"?

Sorry but i dont understand what does that mean. My English is not quite good.:-((
?? What violin?
Nah, Diru is quite a bit bigger than Maximum the Hormone. Both good bands, though.
Joseph has Kyo beat in both!
