Also I think she can admit a) Katie's not a perfect person....she's a human being. None of us are perfect. b) It was ballsy for Katie to put that in her book. She could've opted to not say anything bad about herself but she did. I think jealousy or fear or losing prominence is completely normal and though it doesn't put her in a great light, I'm impressed she told us about it. Fame and success can do strange things to you. You worry if it could all go away quickly. It's different for everybody.
@@DanK123 I couldn’t agree with you, more. I think Ashley may have misunderstood the situation, not realizing that Katie Couric was admitting her own insecurities and that there was nothing negative that she was saying about Ashley.
@@gretchenwenzel2906 Definitely. It's 100% the opposite. Katie was so concerned Ashley did such a great job it could hurt her career and steal some spotlight. It's easy to look back years later and say "I shouldn't have done that"...but so many people in the same situation probably would. Movie stars know there's always work out there and they all tend to support each other. Competing female anchors on the same network....it's tough. Can really mess with your head. I think her actions are probably what happens 99% of the time. Human nature.

🌟 Star, it would have been nice if you'd gotten more into the nitty-gritty of what times were like. THESE young women-- and I include the middle-aged Ashleigh who is actually Generation X--have NO idea WHAT life was like post-world War for the Boomer women. Katie is telling it like it is and if you don't like it, lump it!
She does not come from the culture of Everyone's a VICTIM-- poor Ashleigh is a victim & all these people are victims. I wrote an earlier comment in greater length describing what it was like.
I also recommend to everyone --and I think you will understand this cuz you had a little insight tho you were unwilling to articulate completely--& especially THESE media women who are SO offended-- THEY should ALL have become Librarians or teachers.

Couric is another self-preserving girl that has a number of insecurities. She, in my opinion, was not as great as she seems to think she is. Not all that impressed.

I have never ever thought Katie was anything special!! She just wasnt. The inside people in that industry pumped her up, NOT THE AUDIENCES!! I don't think many of news audiences have ever drooled over Katie C. as her own peers did. Its so weird. I think her book will sell ONLY because people like to read dirt. Not due to the desire to read about Katie C.
If women do not start helping other women and giving them a hand up the way men do, we will never rise to the top.I always had the feeling she thought she was cuter than the other girls, I did not ever see her be close girlfriends with others. I heard rumors over the years she was jealous and did some backstabbing......I hoped they were untrusted.

RESPECT for this classy, heartfelt response. Hard to understand why Katie wrote a book like this, thought she had a lot more integrity and decency.
Couric NEVER had class. She's a libturd jackass. Why do I say this? Wants conservatives banished from social media. Does NOT care about the unborn who have a heartbeat and want to live but cannot defend themselves or speak for themselves. Has something against God-fearing Evangelical Christians (mostly conservatives) that wanted to go to God's House for worship on Holy Days during the COVID pandemic. She's an overall horrible person...an egomaniac. And I was gleefully jumping for joy when BOTH she and Anderson Cooper were eliminated from contention for being the late Alex Trebek's successor as Jeopardy host. These two reprobates from the lying Marxist media and their terrible political views were the deal breaker. They BOTH got what they deserved.
Ashley, you have such class, such professionalism and such a beautiful heart. You have and continue to pave the way for so many other women. Be extremely proud of yourself and remember, those who are jealous or feel the need to put others down, only feel insecure about themselves. You are a powerful, intelligent role model. I love watching your broadcasts.

You’re the perfect example of the Christian philosophy of “overcoming evil with good.” Katie may be a brilliant journalist, but I’ve lost my respect for her as a person.
She was never a journalist. She hosted a morning show where she interviewed people in segments such as how to tie a big bow around a kitten's neck on Valentine's Day without strangling it and other nonsense like that. She has a Bachelor's in history and went straight into on air news reading from there.
Wow! I was bracing for a searing rebuttal - instead I heard heartfelt words of admiration and vulnerability! That speaks volumes about Ms. Banfield’s character. Something I can aspire to. Rare!
Now this is a response with class. As for Couric, I’ve never thought much of her and think even less of her now.
She does not come off as a woman who would help another woman. Seems agenda driven. IMO
I agree completely .....It's amazing the world use to love Katie and Matt Lauer. Turns out they were both a couple of frauds. Katie is even more disappointing than Matt because her whole brand was "Sweet Katie" every woman's "best friend". Yeah, right.
It's been my biggest disappointment in women: sabotaging one another/backbiting/backstabbing. I'm with you, Ashleigh. I've done all in my power to lift other women up, to make more room, to encourage & promote. Helping others believe in themselves & grow is the greatest joy I've experienced in my life. There's nothing better.

I was NEVER a fan of Katie Couric's interview style, she was always so aggressive, like she was trying to prove something. Finding out Katie does not support other women is disappointing but just shows her deep insecurity about herself.

To me, Katie Couric always seemed like a fake "America's darling". Her words of criticism, in her book, of her "competitors" reveal a long-,term lack of self-confidence. Bless you, Ashleigh, for taking the high road. You demonstrate great class and tact!

The first time I ever saw Ashley B on television was on September 11, 2001. She was brave and beautiful and empathetic to those around her in all of the chaos. Not so much a fan of hers anymore. She showed her true colors. Ashleigh showed her how to overcome a hurtful situation. Katie needs to learn some manners! Bravo to Ashleigh for taking the high road. Have to disagree with your assessment of Ms Kouric; there was always a sneering superiority and smugness shallowly covered by her spunky performance which was unconvincing. Did she like anyone ? Her tell all memoir demonstrates a total lack of class, good manners or kindness. Her judgements goes against her not the dead bodies she'd like to leave in her wake. Success isn't enough for her. A sad, sorry state of mind to leave as a memoir.
Absolutely. Katie has always struck me as extremely fake, shallow, and self-centered. The last line of the Daily Mail report only confirms that assessment.
