i wanna know what rank this is because even I havent seen players that bad back when I was at like 600 with my 3fps, unless theyre bots (which she isnt bc bots do absolutely nothing and she actually did heal i think) or i guess afk but oof
When Ashe finally took high ground and moved back to the edge, I think she was giving Mercy a lift up. Cannot say how annoying it is to play Mercy, want to get to an allied sniper, but they won't move to the edge of high ground to let you up.
Sty I'm gonna help you out here and explain a couple phenomenon for you (even though you probably already realize this). First, lower level players are more comfortable on the ground because on high ground, you have to aim left, right, up, and down. If you're on the ground, you only have to move left and right. You don't even have to move the mouse, you can just strafe, and it's easier to hit targets if your aim is less than stellar. It's not ideal, but I guarantee you that's why people end up on the ground. The same principle applies to players being sucked towards fights. Most people I think are using too high of a sensitivity and when they're farther from a fight, the heads are smaller, harder to hit. Being closer with bigger targets triggers something in your mind, tells you you can make those shots where in the back you just click, click, click and you hit nothing. Even though these things get them killed, this is why they're jumping off high ground and being sucked into close quarters fighting. The solution is to play reaper (jk, but not really).
I think that's not it for the high ground, there's also the fact that usually you're alone on the high ground, so when the enemy teams spots you, you feel more vulnerable, because there are no shields or allies to bodyblock for you, you're in the open, so when you start getting focused you kinda want to go back with your team because it feels safer.
nacotee is on point with that comment, most people who gravitate off the high ground in lower elos do it because they feel disconnected from the team /aka subconsciously feeling less vulnerable in the pack. Then there's also the subconscious way of correlating being a part of the fight with actually physically being in the fight. Most lower elo players don't see the apparent value they get from being outside of the main fight. Since it feels to them like they should be "in the fight" with the rest of their team, they fail to realize that their value is provided most effectively when they stick to their high ground or flank angle. They don't see the value of creating crossfire and expanding the enemy's attack angle because it's not obvious if you don't think about it. In the end, many lower elo players just end up acting without really thinking why they do what they do. If the fight is happening somewhere, they just gravitate towards it similar to how tunnel vision works. It's like "im up here but the fight is down there, I should get closer to the fight and be more productive, help contest the objective, etc". It's similar to the habit of looking into the ground because you look where you're gonna move towards, instead of looking forward and preparing for potentially having to engage someone. It's just a force of habit that automatically happens when the tunnel vision kicks in.
This isn't really a "defense" because I know it's a problem I and other players need to work on, but as some insight to why the player kept jumping down; I genuinely have a harder time hitting my shots at an angle than I do on the ground. There is that huge temptation of "ugh I'm not hitting anything, I need to jump down." And it's something that I think players like myself need to work on.
Hey Stylosa, I think it would be cool if you could coach your own gameplay from 2016/2017. I'd like to hear your thoughts about your own gameplay 3 years ago.
The coach gunning behind is something I see a lot of Pharah players do as they're used to using concussion to get air and a little boost forwards I find.
I don’t know if Sty mentioned it already, but another big tip for making your shots is to just slow down a little. Not every shot has to be immediately fired! Breathe and make sure you’re aiming correctly before firing. You’ll get faster over time, but before going for speed, make sure you’re hitting the target Edit: I think patience is also why Osarys keeps giving up the high ground. I’m sure he sees enemies and thinks “I can get a better shot on this one enemy by dropping down”, but by chasing that one kill you give up a few others
As an ashe main, i see loads of people making the mistake of not being patient with their shots as well as their dynamite. When you chuck out a dynamite don't be afraid to give it some time to travel. When you start missing headshots I find it helpful to get behind cover, take a few deep breaths while reloading, and then count my shots. *Shot* 1-one-thousand, *Shot* 2-one-thousand. This brings my pace down so I can regain focus and avoid panic.
I can feel this player's instincts, and they're great, just gotta mold them for OW. I can feel him gravitating towards the obj in those tense situations, when he can get a lot more value from playing the obj from other places. It's not a bad instinct for other games, but self-sabotage for OW, 4/5 times

DPS, Healer and Tank. You got this 👍🏽
Something that I have experienced in lower ranks is a fearlessness of players pursuing sniper characters, Ashe included. In higher levels of play if an enemy Junkrat runs away from his team to pursue you as a sniper he will get killed by you and/or your team. In lower ranks strategy goes out the window and teams often leave lone enemy players to freely engage your backline. I state this because it ends up creating bad habits and makes for some strange player behavior, like jumping down into the fray to simply try and get to safety or get the attention of your healer.

As a person who has spent most of their Overwatch career in bronze/silver: Bronze/Silvers first priority is always to babysit the payload. They likely jumped down at 20:20 because they felt the need to contest. Not thinking that killing the Rein would stop that; But they needed to be there to do it physically. Bronze and Silvers will prioritize the payload even after a team kill. You will get flamed for suggesting either A. that a portion, if not 4 or 5 of the team move forward to fight further up to get more uncontested push on the cart (Think after point A on Kings Row) or B. giving up some ground (on defense) to give your team positional advantage. I think this is the main reason why bronze/silver dont maintain high ground. Next to not knowing what high ground does for your positional advantage. They must be on cart. 5 on cart for faster push. etc.
Bronze worried about payload? You are overestimating them. Dude. Most of the Bronze dps mains if not all are playing Team Death match in Overwatch of Duty.
8:41 I disagree here. Since the Junkrat was spamming the hallway, going to the side would have been the worst thing to do since reaper was coming in during the spam. Them retreating was actually good
I'm pretty sure you HAVE to coach gun backwards because it knocks you back backwards. But anyhow, another tip for Ashe players is to reload whenever you're not in danger. Even if it's just two bullets, it could save your life depending. I say this because the more bullets she uses, the longer her reloading takes, meaning you'll be a sitting duck and a very easy target.
The mouse sensitivity tip was a nice add, I just started playing OW again after a year, and my mouse sensivity used to be perfect for me but now I just fly around the map and keep dying lmao! So it's a little hard to find that perfect sensivity again
As for why our Ashe player is coach-gunning backwards, it might be just a knowledge thing, because intuitively you think it's how it works, as in, it doesn't have forward momentum. I remember everyone did it when Ashe first came out, before we all realised we can just run and aim straight down and it conserves forward momentum. OP, if you're reading, this is for you. Use it.
35:09 There is a name for the phenomenon where people randomly charge into a fight, it's called "Target Fixation" also called "Tunnel vision" We're hardwired that way and it takes training to get out of it. Inexperienced motorcyclists often get into accidents because of it.
There is a term for the tendency to get sucked into the middle of a team fight: target fixation. Target fixation is probably the deadliest thing in Overwatch at any level.
Honestly some people get good games most if the time in bronze. Like me. I get 13k per round as reaper and still in bronze, it's just some times an off day.
Was trying out ashe in the training room, I noticed her shots are much more punishing than mccree and widowmaker. Both those heroes you can have the reticle on the red outline of the enemy's silhouette and it will still register a hit, but with ashe, it will always miss.
@@chainer8686 Are you sure you did it in the same place, each of these heroes are hit-scan so there isn't any travel time and therefore no need for different hit-boxes. Maybe your aim was off with Ashe.
@@amadhatter3280 at first I was moving around, but when I clearly saw I was hitting fewer shots with ashe, I just stood still in the spawn room looking out to the two bots visible from inside, and just swapped between heroes trying my best to keep the dot set at it's smallest size in the same location. Later I moved around to other locations. I didn't just take one shot and assume the hero was bugged, I spent a good 20 mins trying to recreate each. I do have to point out that I don't have a gaming monitor, so its possible that even with pixels looking exactly the same, that aim could have still been off by a very tiny margin, however at the same time, even if Iwas using an old tube monitor I doubt it would have been enough to be the deciding factor, but considering ashe was the only one consistently missing shots while the others were hitting every one, even when positioned unfavorably, made me come to this conclusion. If you set your mouse to have an extremely low sensitivity, like 1, and your dpi higher you can every so slightly move your mouse at your deask while see it remain stationary on screen when in reality its moving in game by ammounts that cannot be seem on screen. I urge others to test it out, of course the hits will register on all heroes as long as you're within the outline of the silhouette, this is how roadhog's hook and doomfist's rocket punch can land even when the target belives they are safe standing still.
I haven't watched the video yet, I'm about to. But I just wanna say your videos are brilliant and I'm learning so much. I'm also binging the "overanalyzed" series 👍🏻 thanks for the tips
The thing of jumping down there is because usually people are just shouting at people to contest the payload and thrashing if anyone is not at the payload after that. People are commanding everyone to contest. They do not know who would be the ideal person to contest it, which is Orisa, Rein,Wrecking Ball, or just the main tank generally.
Sty I love you man and you're my favorite OW commentator but please try to finish your thoughts! You go off in 100 directions with the game paused sometimes without finishing any of the threads you started and it gets a little frustrating. It's not a huge deal really, just something I've noticed a few times. Anyway, hope you're well and keep up the great videos man.
He'll be coaching gunning from behind because it gives you abit more momentum towards where you want to go. I personally didn't even know you could look straight down and coach gun to get on high ground ahead of you
non-ADS firing is actually quite useful is more circumstances than you give it credit for, because it has a higher DPS than ADS firing. It's really good for bursting down big hitbox targets, like tanks or even barriers. The only downside is it uses up a LOT more ammo, so generally, you would only hipfire when you know you can disengage and pop a reload behind cover.
"Why do people get sucked into a fight? Why do they move towards the enemy?" Answer is simple: Aim. Especially as you go down in ranks, the closer the target is the easier it is to hit. That's the mentality at least. But that's just a theeeoooryyyyyyyy!
I dont think it's because of aim. Mostly anyways. I used to do this, but I think its more of "hey all the action is over there I want a piece of that action" and for me it's not really something I really noticed I did until someone pointed it out to me..it just felt right. I may be wrong but if you asked the guy why he did that I would honestly expect him to say "idk". Lol
@@FlappyDragon98 I agree that it's probably 90% a subconscious thing but the driving force behind overwatch is killing the enemy team, which means hitting them, which means aim. Being part of the action makes sense too but I think the reason lower ranks do it more than higher ranks is because you get better at aiming the higher your rank is, so you feel the need to get closer less and less. That's my theory anyway.

Citruspolsion Spud 30:43?
30:44 well timed junkrat laugh,

Sty: "We're losing a lot of people here"
30:43 Stylosa roleplaying as that junkrat
35:09 There is a name for the phenomenon where people randomly charge into a fight, it's called "Target Fixation" also called "Tunnel vision" We're hardwired that way and it takes training to get out of it. Inexperienced motorcyclists often get into accidents because of it.
"can get away with some dogy stuff" Sty is literally"I'll borrow you my gun for 5 pounds" police
Dang, two years ago... I miss this series 😢
1:49 the aww mate made me laugh, you literally paused it the second he clicked it and then acted as though you just noticed like aww mateee :P
Good to meet you again at EGX
There is a term for the tendency to get sucked into the middle of a team fight: target fixation. Target fixation is probably the deadliest thing in Overwatch at any level.
bronze submits their one good game out of 50 and complains profusely (2019, colorized)
Honestly some people get good games most if the time in bronze. Like me. I get 13k per round as reaper and still in bronze, it's just some times an off day.

Phil Swift says your attempt was mediocre.
It doesn't matter if you die now, but remember, dying is the worst thing you can do.
Stylosa - 2019
When this Ashe is better than half the dps in gold :)
This was one of the funniest Overanalyzed videos ever. LMAO'ed hard.
STYLOSA SAME I LOVE KINGS ROW!
as a bronze hanzo player when i give up high ground like that, it's because i feel like i have higher accuracy at ground level
Hanzo is weird because his role is sniper like widow and ig Ashe, but he isn’t hitscan and has an arcing shot
Was trying out ashe in the training room, I noticed her shots are much more punishing than mccree and widowmaker. Both those heroes you can have the reticle on the red outline of the enemy's silhouette and it will still register a hit, but with ashe, it will always miss.
if you're talking about hip fire then that's supposed to happen, it's like how soldier's shots spread after 9 bullets
@@valkenhayn412 I was trying out both primary and secondary
30:45 I honestly thought for a second that was junkrat laughing xD
0:05 “no, no, no, no, no, nor, nor, ner, ner, ner, ner, ner”
The thing of jumping down there is because usually people are just shouting at people to contest the payload and thrashing if anyone is not at the payload after that. People are commanding everyone to contest. They do not know who would be the ideal person to contest it, which is Orisa, Rein,Wrecking Ball, or just the main tank generally.
10:36 it was at this moment when Ashe knew, she mess up...
It was at this moment, Ashe new she fucked up*
@@askhan12406 knew*
You don’t die in real life all the time, just do that in Overwatch
Sty I love you man and you're my favorite OW commentator but please try to finish your thoughts! You go off in 100 directions with the game paused sometimes without finishing any of the threads you started and it gets a little frustrating. It's not a huge deal really, just something I've noticed a few times. Anyway, hope you're well and keep up the great videos man.
30:45 I actually thought junkrat was laughing
Ok but that aiming tip with the line was probably actually the best overwatch tip I have ever had ○_○
THATS A LOT OF DAMAGE
The name for players getting sucked into the fight should be "The Sigma Effect"
He'll be coaching gunning from behind because it gives you abit more momentum towards where you want to go. I personally didn't even know you could look straight down and coach gun to get on high ground ahead of you
How to make Sty laugh like a goddamn idiot: fall of the map 😂😂😂😂
Sty:that's alot of damage.
MY BRAIN: PHIL SWIFT
11:59 Mercy damage boosted but didn't heal and just leaves.
non-ADS firing is actually quite useful is more circumstances than you give it credit for, because it has a higher DPS than ADS firing. It's really good for bursting down big hitbox targets, like tanks or even barriers. The only downside is it uses up a LOT more ammo, so generally, you would only hipfire when you know you can disengage and pop a reload behind cover.
Love you bro! Keep making great video's!
0:55 MMMMMMMM
THATS A LOTTA DAMAGE
The one thing I have notice in high gold low dimond is most people don't know how to back off when enemy ults and re engage after the ult and how Not to poke whewaitting to regourp have lost to many games to people trying to poke
High Gold/Low DIAMOND???
Another thing is "most" players in Gold -> Lower Diamond are to aggressive on defense & too passive on Attack.
@@amadhatter3280 just press q 4head
@@fabianreder9780 I think the word he's looking for is "plat" but honestly it's probably everywhere until diamond.
Whenever I play with my friends I'm always like "OK back off let's regroup.. no no ACTUALLY back off, way more, get off the chok- STOP POKe-- *ding* _ally dies_ ". People always think "If I'm careful I can poke and get free ult charge while I wait! Im a genious".
At 30 44 u sound exactly like junkrat when he laughs 🤣
It's probably really hard to rank up without being able to see what hero you're shooting at, target priority is probably impossible
20:22 the reaction of this episode🤣
I guess the definition of throwing has changed to mean "made a bad decision"? I I liked it better when throwing meant intentionally doing things to try to get your team to lose and purposely not trying.
This is the funniest overanalyzed lol
