She and her passenger both walked away ( 2015 Ford Explorer), it took paramedics 35 minutes to free my legs from my 2012 Ford Focus.

Left leg was badly mangled. 3 years ago, just before covid, the knee was too far gone and was replaced with an artificial one. They're nowhere near as good as a real knee. So yeah, still get pain and discomfort now, 30 years on. People forget such major injuries are not something you entirely get over.

I caught the dash across the knees but the left front tire folded back and deformed the floor under the pedals and under the seat. My head was against the roof but that had bent upwards a bit, so that saved me from more head injuries. I had 5 surgeries on my right foot and leg, 3 on my left. I have rods in both lower legs and the left foot has several plates and screws. I did have a skull fracture that cause a TBI, but considering the impact the docs said I dodged the bullet. The car was a work car, it had a dash cam and GPS speed monitoring. I was actually below the speed limit for that road. Had I been doing 60, just a bit faster, they would have been cutting out my corpse.

See I bought a 2019 Audi A4 Sport over a 2020 CRV last month. My old car was a 14 Cruze Diesel. Believe it or not the Audi is 256kg's lighter than my Cruze (1320kg vs 1576kg). So that did conern me a while, but the Audi seems to be more solid in crash tests, so idrk how to feel. Would the CRV have been a safer option? My next car is definitely gonna be an SUV or an A6 sized car.

The company I worked for had 3 crashes with their Ford Focus fleet, one was fatal. In 2018 they ditched the remaining 7 for Ford Escapes. They just replaced those with 2022 Escapes so I think they found their fleet vehicle. The only had one accident with the 2018 Escapes, and that was the drivers fault (texting). Totaled, but everyone walked away. My POV now is a 2021 Escape Titanium. I have a compact power chair and a custom made swing out winch that picks it up and puts in behind the back seat, perfect fit.

The Crown Vic, being body on frame, sustained moderate damage but for the most part it stopped once it hit the A pillar. The unibody Impala completely collapsed, and became deformed, as well as having crash intrusion all the way to the B pillar. Shows why body on frame is a safer design.
Nonsense. That deformation is what absorbs the energy of the crash. You could build an almost indestructable car out of inch thick steel but the occupants would be paste after a crash like that.
Many years ago when he was a deputy, the fellow in charge of our group was dispatched to an accident scene where the unrestrained car seat went through the windshield. The child didn't survive..

These are done at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center where some of the many classes they teach are accident reconstruction and investigation. It helps the students to see and work real life scenarios than stuff made up on paper. I just help with the rigging and getting the cars to the crash. After that they do all of the scene mapping and data gathering.. Me? I have a ball! lol!
The one with the car seat not installed is the most painful to watch….and it happens all time. Often, it’s even worse, because of people that choose to drive around with their babies/toddlers not even in a seatbelt, much less in a car seat that’s properly installed; or you’ll see them riding around standing up, or in the front, etc. There are also people think they’re protecting their child as much as possible by making sure they’re properly secured, but they/their passengers don’t wear seatbelts. They don’t realize the amount of risk they’re subjecting their child to, by not requiring everyone in the vehicle wear a seatbelt. Without a seatbelt, bodies fly everywhere in a crash, which often results in children getting severely injured or worse. Nice choice for that to be the one with the empty bud light cans flying everywhere 😂 - very fitting

Well the Panther Platform ( Ford Crown Victoria; Mercury Grand Marquis; Lincoln Town Car) were not only durable vehicles, this durability means they will be on the roads for a long time meaning greater chances for them getting in accidents versus say so many troublesome German cars that are more costly to maintain ,and breakdown more often. In addition as you may be aware, the Crown Victorias were a favorite for use as Taxi Cabs & Police cars & FBI cars, government cars, etc., so they are also concerned with safety of these vehicles in crashes. In addition the Town Car was the number one choice for limousine conversions. Furthermore these were just some of the crashes that this man helped with (according the the presenter), so perhaps these just happened to have the best illustrations of the crashes...

Servo on the throttle, homemade servo for steering and pneumatic actuator for brakes which we only use at the start or for an emergency stop..
