Thank you for talking about BED. I'm diagnosed with it and have a hard time finding mainline information. I'm guessing it's because it's a relatively new DSM diagnosis.

That’s a condition that people with skin picking disorder like me also face. During my treatment I realised just how hard it is to understand my emotions and how bad it affects me. I was hoping you could make a video specifically about skin picking since it is usually an unknown and misunderstood conditions. I’m a huge fan btw! ⚕️

I took notes. Yielded this thought. Feel trapped and can't do anything, no point in processing cause and distinction to yield knowing what to do. So maybe no processing isn't a lack of skill, it is the skill. So how to override that? Maybe grasp to the thought there's gotta be something I can do, and get to processing exactly the cause and significance of your feelings and maybe a better solution is in there.

You don't think it's largely tied to getting a dose of dopamine when you really need it?

This is a short form video but yes I think she would agree that the mechanism by which you are (temporarily) eliminating that negative emotion is through dopamine release.

It also seems like the most reliable and least risky means of achieving it. There are very few "unknowns" so to speak involved in eating, unlike in "healthier" activities like socialisation for instance. The strength of the causal link from ingesting food to dopamine seems really rather strong.

Incredible! If you also reference Freud's Psychosexual development theory, and focus on the "Oral stage" it may also be that some people with BED never made it past the oral stage and may have developed an oral fixation and use food to stimulate whatever libido is left in the mouth. Just my opinion

My mother and brother, heh... I'm so glad I went to the gym all those years ago. Going to be hard to admit, my mother and brother would call me fat, so yeah. I mean, it's rich of them to call me fat, when my brother's fave food is french fries. One time when we were at McDonalds and it was a little before 11 AM, and they were just about to unload the fries after the hashbrowns. The server said "we don't have fries yet" and my brother would cry. "wahh where are my fries".
