Mary you & Peter have a gift for explaining CF & how things are. I have been an RN for over 30 years & knew very little about it & I feel you have given me so much information about the disease. You both are such a blessing to others & also your Ollie is so cute, love watching him. My sister has a dog named Rose who looks just like Ollie. Rose also has quite the personality.
I love Peter on guitars singing with Mary! I used to love stringing my guitar and tuning it. 😍 Mary you are such an amazing lady and Peter is such a great husband. Ollie is so devoted to you. I just love you guys.
We over-fished haddock to near extinction a short time back and although the species has begun to bounce back the amount of fish allowed to be taken is now restricted. There are a number of similar tasting fish that were introduced and sold as haddock in its place that we still use: pollock for one and another fish I can't recall off the top of my head. It might be worth calling the store to ask which fish was used in the chowder. Also, get the full list of ingredients while you're at it. Could be something else.
Hey Mary👋🏻. Just wanted to say that since my partner had his feeding tube he has managed to gain weight xx being able to give his meds through the tube is also very helpful. He has MS and can't protect his airway when he swallows so this is a safer way for him to get meds and nutrition. Mark didn't have sedation-they just numbed his skin. I wish you all the best and sending prayers🙏🏻 xx 😘
Mary, it's so true - feeding tubes can be a great help. Once it's placed, it can help with nutrition and hydration, which are such a great help. I have used mine for some medications at times, so that's really true - it can be used that way! When I've been in the hospital, it is generally my only source of nutrition, and sometimes here at home. It would be good to have it in place before your transplant, if there is a time when you might not be able to eat. Then you could still be getting fuel and water, which your body will need as you recover. As for Peter, I hope he is feeling better, and his allergic reaction resolved quickly! I hope he got enough rest so that he could still have a good morning at church today. Blessings and peace to you both.
Sounds like plans are in place for your GJ tube Mary, my prayers are with you for a smooth and easy recovery. And Peter, my prayers are with you too, as you get over this rash you have. My love and hugs are with the 3 of you, see you tomorrow!
I have a chronic illness that's not as serious as CF but I am often exhausted or in pain, and I have the opposite problem my meds are causing me to gain weight. Watching you really motivates me to work with my illness and pushing myself further. Keep being you Mary and Peter. Do what you think you can't do.
Peter, I worked for a dermatologist and we saw several patients who had been on vacations and came home with a rash. If it was around the edge of a swim suit and at about the waterline in a hot tub, the Dr. would call it Hot Tub Dermatitis.
Oh no. Peter be careful. Allergies can develop any time. If you had an allergic reaction to Mahi Mahi before, you might be developing an overall seafood allergy. If possible, I would try to get an allergy test. When I was little I started with an allergy to bananas, and as I age I become allergic to more and more. Now it's avocados, squash (save for pumpkin), melons, mango, etc. So be careful! I hope all is well. Lots of love!
Hi guys, I've watching your vlogs for quite short time, but being an older sister of a disabled girl I can imagine what difficulties has also your life together. But, as Good Lord is present constantly in our lives, we can live with Him in good and in not so good times. I love those little bits of happiness that you bring with your vlogs, and evenings here (I'm in Europe) with those videos are just like a new tradition for me. I hope that your treatment will be successful this time, Mary, and as I'm PT, I hope that everything together will work perfectly. Stay strong, I'm sending positive energy to you, to Peter and to Ollie :)
Im nearing the end of a 2 week hospital stay, during which I had my portacath fitted. I am so grateful to you for doing a couple o videos about ports, because that is how I stumbled across your channel, and have been binge watching you ever since! So much of what Mary says and experiences rings true with me as while I have a different condition, my life is also never ending coughing, struggling for breath, medication, nausea, and so on. I just want to say a huge thank you for your openness and honesty in your vlogs. and wish you all the best for upcoming surgery and the future, I will be watching daily for more news. God bless you both. xxx
Been praying for you Peter. Hope all is well. Often good to take Clarantyne or another antihistamine when these allergies occur. Loved it when you sang together - can see the love of Jesus in your faces. 🙏❤️
Just getting caught up on all the vlogs. I was in the hospital right before the meet up and got behind on the videos. (I had some massive mystery pain that I thought was kidney stones again but it wasn't and they couldn't figure it out. Specialist is working on it.). Still glad I pushed myself to go down and see you. Thank you again for everything that you share with us and teach us. I appreciate your authenticity as well as your positive attitudes! 🙂🙂
I know this was from yesterday and I hope it's gone but I'm praying for healing of your mystery reaction, Peter. As well as God's hands over Mary, her Surgeon, all medical staff for this upcoming procedure for the feeding tube placement.
Hi Mary and Peter!!! I was wondering how you came across getting oli? did you get him trained after you got him or did you buy him trained? I need a service dog as well, and I don't know how to come about getting one
Kelly Beast you can also train your own service dog if your health allows it. sometimes this is beneficial and financial a better way to go. got my pit/lab mix from a rescue, mico chip, he was already neutered, good health, shots, 4 months old as well as provide him with a forever home. he is still in training to accommodate my medical needs as they changes considerably in the last 16 months. this helps in my needs, wishing you good luck =) hope this provides you with another option.
Rae Holt I have a pup that I want to train, the only problem is that he doesn't have his shots yet and he has to get fixed (this will all happen within the next 5 weeks) and he is now randomly aggressive. I hope it's just that he has a bit of a sicky belly or something. he is a rot/shepherd mix, I personally don't think any one type of dog is mean and a killer so I don't think it's that, but I'm worried he may be a bad apple, he's only 2 months old. any tips??
I had an NJ tube some weeks ago, placement was horrible, it kept curling up in my stomach.. so much respect for you! I hope the permanent tube works for you! I also have a hard decision to make to get a bowel surgery or not (would be the 7th) you are such an inspiration to me! I don't know how you stay so positive! ❤Mary and Peter feel better soon!
Mary, my son had one! He had his surgery at JHH many years ago and it served its purpose and hes had it removed which was tough! I don't think I heard you mention how its getting placed (my son had a Mick-Y/ pig-tail tube) but I just want to say... watch that skin while you heal! That was the toughest and logest recovery!
Do you think Peter's reaction could be from the new guitar strings? People sometimes develop allergies to the nickel strings. You should google it and check the type the he used to restring. Its a long shot, but you never know.
Idk if it was just me,but I got emotional when Peter & Mary were singing praises to God,I am so happy that you are finally able to get a GJ tube!! I will continue to pray for you & Peter through this week!!
Hope Peter is doing ok, I think he may be allergic to Boston's snow j/k, - And It's so ok that today vlog was a normal day, not everyday can't be exciting with dolphins, alligators, snakes and animals ! :)~
A friend just got back from Fla. and he also was covered in a rash like Peter's. The Dr. told him it was from a public hot tub or swimming pool. He was put on an antibiotic. His rash appeared after he returned also.
The reaction could be to shellfish or traces of shellfish in the chowder. Or have you used a new laundry detergent or fabric softener? My first ever allergy was to my Mum changing laundry detergent when I was about 8 years old. I would highly recommend you get allergy tested once per year. You can be allergy free for years, then suddenly develop allergies completely out of the blue. And you can get more & more allergies as time goes by or just have that one. They're so unpredictable. And make sure you never run out of allergy medication in the house like the Benadryl. If your throat ever starts itching from allergies, go straight to the nearest ER immediately! It may also be worth you considering regular allergy meds if you get another reaction to anything. The best one is Loratidine (UK generic name); it's non-drowsy, but very effective. I've been on permanent allergy meds for about 10 years now & thankfully I've got emergency meds to stop a flare up becoming full blown. I haven't had a full blown flare up for at least two years.
I'll be thinking of and praying for you guys next week!!! I know it's a lot to process and all surgery is scary but I totally agree with you why this will be a very good option for you. question - will you still be able to eat normal food with the permanent tube or will you be forced to only use the tube for nourishment? I've seen a couple of videos of people with tubes and they can only be fed through the tube and no normal eating. I really know very little about feeding tubes so that's why I wanted to ask.
Dear Mary ... I'm sure you'll be fine !! Thank you so much for explaining .... Just wondering .. once you have your tube placed ... can you / are you also still allowed to eat my mouth .., or can you then only use the NJ ?? Nice to see that you're settled back into your lifes ... ( Goes quicker then you think eh ? ) I am SO thrilled that you were both able to take this trip of a lifetime to Florida !! No one can ever take that away from you guys ! And Mary .. I ALSO thought that the guitar sounded clearer after putting on the new strings .... ?? Love to all ... Herma XXX Also happy to see Olli back in his usual surroundings ... !!! X PS : Maybe some anti histamines are in order for Peter .. ? Helps against most allergies !!
Yeah, but Disney Rash only affects your lower extremities. I know firsthand, I live fairly close to Disneyland and get the rash sometimes. It NEVER goes on your back, just your legs.
debra donley You're right. I live in Florida and every now and again I get that rash all over my legs. My husband gets it too, he has it right now actually.
+debra donley is correct. The nicknamed "Disney rash" comes from the strong florida sunlight reflecting back up off the pavement which unsuspecting tourists walk miles upon miles on with minimal leg coverings. It only affects the lower legs and will not cause the rash to appear under any areas covered by clothing.
Lovely guitar playing, have you ever thought of playing some of your own music for the vlog? I think it would be really nice if one day the opening theme song was something you played on the guitar
My illness is no where near as bad as yours but it's still a daily struggle! I have Celaic Disease as well as terrible asthma, anemia and I'm also hypoglycemia.. my right lung isn't fully developed due to it collapsing when I was a very tiny baby so my asthma has done nothing but get worse but we've finally found inhalers that work! I have very thin blood and not a lot of it causing me to get light headed very often and just not feel to great! My blood sugar drops so I have to be very careful of that making sure I'm eating and I've recently been diagnosed with CD which means I can't eat gluten anymore. It's a challenge but I'm learning to deal with it. It's still so new to me and I'm still trying to figure out what I can and can't eat. Trying to find snacks to keep my blood sugar stable but making sure it doesn't have gluten! It's rough some days but I'm staying strong! I go see my GI dr in a couple months to make sure the gluten free diet is working and finding out what other autoimmune Disease my body is developing.
I had a pretty serious allergic reaction a few years ago and ended up hospitalized for a couple days. My blood work indicated it was likely brought on by a viral or bacterial infection.
I was meant to have a gastroscopy today but my blood pressure was too low for sedation and without sedation I freaked out so much I couldn't have it done. 😥 I've now probably got to have it under general anesthetic. I'm do bummed at myself for freaking out but I have panic disorder so can't control it. 😣 Good luck with your placement Mary! I hope you find the feeding tube useful.
A quick trip to ER would have been great to check out that rash. Good friend of mine died in her sleep from an allergic reaction. Her throat closed up.
I think Peter's "allergic reaction" might actually be a simple intoxication from the sea food he had. Maybe something was off and he ate it. I had a reaction very similar to his about a month ago and it was because I ate sea food that I normally eat and don't react to.
my interesting allergic reaction: mangoes. fun fact, mangoes are related to poison ivy, which I react strongly to. well if I eat mango that is closer to the skin of the fruit, I break out in a basically poison ivy rash ON MY LIPS. since I discovered this I have done some more research and I guess it can develop into full anaphylaxis, so I just avoid mango things and mango flavored things all together.
hives are awful. hopefully they go away soon. mine took about a month, steriod shot and OTC meds. OH, what is the book title on the side table? Praying like Paul?
Hey Mary, who makes that navy striped purse you carry in a lot of your videos? And where did you get it? It's too cute. Hope both you, Peter, and of course Ollie are all doing well! ❤️❤️❤️
I just started having the same type of welts pop up on my hands, feet, back and sides... but no where else... its weird and i havent eaten anything unusual
The links to vlogs of 1 year and 2 years ago are off. The same links are duplicated in tomorrow's vlog. (I noticed because I watched 2 in a row, and the thumbnails are the same)
go have peter tested for allergies if he hasn't done so already and maybe its claims because sometimes one can be allergic to shellfish i used to be allergic to shellfish before xoliar treatment that helped me to outgrow it. It could also be to the weather from florida maybe that caused it who knows. I hope this helps and thinking of you Mary and Peter in hopes all is well
I AM FINALLY EARLY HELLO 😂 I love your videos you guys make me smile every time I see your videos btw if anyone sees this I hope you are having a great day and if you aren't then I hope everything gets better 😊
Allergies can happen for reasons that you may never know. Unless he's having an anaphylactic reaction (trouble breathing) I would just take a Zyrtec and a Pepcid AC. Weird combo that works really well.
I would definitely go see an allergy specialist to get tested for fish allergy. I suspected that I was allergic to all forms of coconut and was confirmed after I saw the allergy specialist.
AKA G.K. Fralin the spleen (as well as it might be working) is an essential part of the immune system where a lot of immune cells mature and learn what to do. Impairing Mary's immune system further than it already is would apparently not be the right choice right now.
Thanks, tiff2106. I do know what the spleen does, but I wasn't sure her's was effective anymore. It must be or they would have removed it. I get concerned about her falling and causing a bleed or worse. There are other parts of the immune system, but I don't know how good those are for Mary since a lot of that is in the digestive system.
I would imagine that as nutrients manage to go in and stay in, at least they have a chance at being absorbed. More so than if they don't go in or stay in at all. But I don't know!
Mary said on one of the vlogs that even though she takes enzymes, she doesn't absorb all the food and vitamins that a normal person would. Does the GJ tube bypass all or part of the digestion process? I'm not really sure how it works. I'm replying to all of you- my phone doesn't let me reply for some reason, I can only write new texts
When she had the NJ, she still had to take enzymes every time she did a feed. She'd have to set up alarms in the middle of the night when she was doing night feeds to take her enzymes so she could digest it all. A direct G/J tube placement would still require that she takes enzymes but she'd at least get more of a volume of calories & nutrition in.
From what I've read many people who are allergic to one type of fish are allergic to another. So maybe Peter is also allergic haddock??? Anyway, I hope it cleared up! I found out recently that I may be allergic to tilapia. I haven't broken out in a rash from it, it made my tounge feel weird.
When you guys sing together - it is just magical.
So incredibly peaceful and beautiful!
Mary, hearing you sing brings tears to my eyes. You have a beautiful heart of worship.
I love Peter on guitars singing with Mary! I used to love stringing my guitar and tuning it. 😍 Mary you are such an amazing lady and Peter is such a great husband. Ollie is so devoted to you. I just love you guys.
He also may be allergic to fish.I hope Peter feels better soon. You both are awesome.
Mary and Peter, you two have beautiful singing voices!

Best of luck with your procedure Mary. Peter I hope you will be okay, I'm worried about your allergy, once it stays as just a rash it's not to bad.
Stay strong, I'm sending positive energy to you, to Peter and to Ollie :)
What a beautiful duet.
Hope Peter is better. And Mary, glad to hear about the feeding tube. You seemed to get stronger when you had the g-j tube despite the pain.
It sounds like this move is really a great move for you - a shortcut to a lot of issues you've been dealing with. We are praying for you!
Im nearing the end of a 2 week hospital stay, during which I had my portacath fitted. I am so grateful to you for doing a couple o videos about ports, because that is how I stumbled across your channel, and have been binge watching you ever since! it's always happening something in your lives. today it was Peter's allergic reaction. you guys are amazing! keep strong and keep fighting💕
Can I just say...Peter is really good on guitar! He should play on-camera more often
Hope that Peters reaction is better in the AM ! God Bless y'all
I will also be put under on Thursday for some procedures. Rooting for you Mary!
Wishing you the best outcome with your procedure this week. Hope Peter is feeling better.
I'm new to your channel and just love the courage you have through tough health circumstances.
Mary I'm praying that Thursday everything goes well during the surgery to place the feeding tube. Love you God Bless you.
I'm so glad I watched this video. I got more of an understanding of what Mary is going through.
Peter, I hope you feel better soon!!!!

Ceres the cerys thank you!!

You will be just fine Mary. God is watching over you and taking care of you, Peter, and Ollie Boy.
Have you tried meditation Mary? I sense you are worried! There's a lot coming up! You are in my prayers! Stay positive!!!😻

Do you think Peter's reaction could be from the new guitar strings? People sometimes develop allergies to the nickel strings. You should google it and check the type the he used to restring. Its a long shot, but you never know.
That was my first thought, as it seemed a little late to be getting a reaction from something he ate in Florida
Fish is sometimes high in nickel also, which could have been the reason for the mahi mahi reaction.
That's an interesting theory!
Idk if it was just me,but I got emotional when Peter & Mary were singing praises to God,I am so happy that you are finally able to get a GJ tube!! I will continue to pray for you & Peter through this week!!

When you started singing I freaked out, I ❤️❤️❤️❤️ that song and your singing!!
Can you record your worship service by chance. That is something I miss from my father's church so much.
Peter has a channel where he uploads his sermons from church.
What's the tattoo on Peter's back, I noticed it when he was in the pool.
Get well soon,Peter! Could you have an allergy to shellfish?? Happy Purim everyone xxxx
Love you guys and will be praying for peace and coverage for your surgery

Mary could you do "I'll Fly Away" I feel like your voice would rock it
Mary my gran has a feeding tube
Lovely guitar playing, have you ever thought of playing some of your own music for the vlog? I think it would be really nice if one day the opening theme song was something you played on the guitar

Ily guys soooooooo much you're so inspiring💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗
I had a pretty serious allergic reaction a few years ago and ended up hospitalized for a couple days. My blood work indicated it was likely brought on by a viral or bacterial infection.
Peter doesn't get calls from him parishes ? Most Pastors get calls for help daily.
when I saw the thumbnail I laughed and said "Peters nakey" 😂😂
I was meant to have a gastroscopy today but my blood pressure was too low for sedation and without sedation I freaked out so much I couldn't have it done. 😥 I've now probably got to have it under general anesthetic. I'm do bummed at myself for freaking out but I have panic disorder so can't control it. 😣
Good luck with your placement Mary! I hope you find the feeding tube useful.
Mary, is there anything doctors can do for a low platelet count?
I get my hives from peanuts or peanut oil.
I loved your worship when you sing. I love the Lord too. I could see your love for God.
Would it be an for the spleen to be removed?
my interesting allergic reaction: mangoes. fun fact, mangoes are related to poison ivy, which I react strongly to. well if I eat mango that is closer to the skin of the fruit, I break out in a basically poison ivy rash ON MY LIPS. since I discovered this I have done some more research and I guess it can develop into full anaphylaxis, so I just avoid mango things and mango flavored things all together.
hives are awful. hopefully they go away soon. mine took about a month, steriod shot and OTC meds.
OH, what is the book title on the side table? Praying like Paul?
I live in CT and tomorrow (3/14) we are suppose to get a Noreaster. I think we are suppose to get at least 18 inches. How much are you suppose to get?
Hey Mary, who makes that navy striped purse you carry in a lot of your videos? And where did you get it? It's too cute. Hope both you, Peter, and of course Ollie are all doing well! ❤️❤️❤️
Sunkissed I know I also love her purse and want to know where it's from!
Mary's purse is from Better Life Bags, handmade near Detroit, MI. The style is Cyndi. www.betterlifebags.com
LoveandBeloved Too Thank you soooo much!!!
I just started having the same type of welts pop up on my hands, feet, back and sides... but no where else... its weird and i havent eaten anything unusual
The links to vlogs of 1 year and 2 years ago are off. The same links are duplicated in tomorrow's vlog. (I noticed because I watched 2 in a row, and the thumbnails are the same)
Oh my God I can't believe that I'm that early! Love you guys
go have peter tested for allergies if he hasn't done so already and maybe its claims because sometimes one can be allergic to shellfish i used to be allergic to shellfish before xoliar treatment that helped me to outgrow it. It could also be to the weather from florida maybe that caused it who knows. I hope this helps and thinking of you Mary and Peter in hopes all is well
The guitar duet was amazing
Do you use acrylic paint when you do your paintings? and maybe Peter came in contact idk Sometimes acrylic paint gives me a rash..
I am so happy for you that you An amazing trip to Florida. love your vlogs
Aw poor Peter,u r the man
hope it will be able to help you mary.
I AM FINALLY EARLY HELLO 😂 I love your videos you guys make me smile every time I see your videos btw if anyone sees this I hope you are having a great day and if you aren't then I hope everything gets better 😊
After Peter said, "it looks like I'm naked" I'll be honest...I was hoping for a, "Peter!" But no lol
Allergies can happen for reasons that you may never know. Unless he's having an anaphylactic reaction (trouble breathing) I would just take a Zyrtec and a Pepcid AC. Weird combo that works really well.
I would definitely go see an allergy specialist to get tested for fish allergy. I suspected that I was allergic to all forms of coconut and was confirmed after I saw the allergy specialist.
hope peter is feeling better n you figure out what caused his reaction xx
hopefully this next step will help, Im watching in order so I will see how this worked
I will be praying for you on Thursday you day Friday ours here in. Australia. God bless
I love sitting here listening to you play and sing :)
I know you've addressed this at some point but why can't they remove your spleen?
Mary - What manner of anesthesia was decided on. General - spinal - or local? And so glad for you that this all came together rather quickly for you.
tom hohn or sedation which I think was what was discussed at some point.
hope both feel better soon. hugs
Is another reason for the tube the fact that you don't absorb all the food, even when you take enzymes?
Suki Johnson the tube wont help her digest either so I don't think so but I may be wrong! :)
That was a very beautiful song!
From what I've read many people who are allergic to one type of fish are allergic to another. So maybe Peter is also allergic haddock??? Anyway, I hope it cleared up! I found out recently that I may be allergic to tilapia. I haven't broken out in a rash from it, it made my tounge feel weird.
lol - haddock chowder - it's a thing in massachusetts. First time I've heard that in 34 years I've lived here. (South of boston)
