As ANY hornist who hears this, sees the music, or has been challenged by performing it, KNOWS---- this MASTERPIECE is, as Mr. Caballero acknowledged, "difficult". for the hornist. It's more than that !
But let's not diminish the difficulties for the other two players.
Merely playing the notes and the rests in their proper places is demanding and requires complete focus to the task.
Of course, for many hearing it, it will also be difficult...at first.
Congratulations to the performers---especially Mr. Caballero.
And to those listeners who found this work worth their time.
And will again.

I'll add: the triple horn is almost a necessity for the performance. The F or Eb alto for the extremes. The normal f-horn side for the natural harmonics.

La platitude musicale des errements musicaux des années '70 sont bien moins détestables que l'intolérance et l'arrogance de leurs exégètes. J'étudiais la musique à cette époque de terrorisme intellectuel et en ai gardé un souvenir effroyable : celui qui ne léchait pas les bottes de l'avant-garde était regardé comme un crétin infréquentable. Que reste-t-il de tout cela ? Pas grand-chose à vrai dire, j'ai créé un certains nombres d'oeuvres contemporaines, non sans un certain plaisir en tant que musicien, mais au bout du compte ces explorations se révèlent la plupart du temps aussi élitistes que stériles.
