That is awesome!! This is what I really wanted but they're hard to find cheap and in decent condition. We just bought a 1970 Cadillac ambulance we plan on painting black to make it look like a hearse.

That's really sweet. My buddy has the same car but it has the corner rear windows, I believe that's the Crown Royal. It's ratty compared to yours though.
Hats off for putting the interior back correctly, it's very well done. The chrome on the Superior Crown is quite ornate, they really pop in good condition.
I've got a ratty 73 MM, it's a cool car but it doesn't have half the chrome yours does. Rock on 🤘

Beautiful! I have one almost exactly the same but not as nicely restored. I still have original rear upholstery all the color of the flip up seats. Lots of mechanical work done, painted once in the 22 years I've owned it. One difference is that I have quarter round windows in the back. Now it stands on the threshold of becoming an 'art car', leaving stock restoration behind. Or, maybe it will just be my one ton capacity Cadillac station wagon, which is what California DMV calls it.

a beautifully stunning vehicle - I appreciate that you’re taking the time necessary to restore it correctly and with care - I’m a stock guy so I prefer things to look like they did when new or when they came down the line. What is the significance of the purple high beam lights? Have never seen them before - only red or blue ones. I loved the 1969 Cadillac styling, which was all new that year. A cousin of mine drove a new Colonial Yellow Coupe de Ville that year with black interior - a very majestic, yet tastefully stylish automobile that always turned heads

To anyone that converts from points to HEI, you need to replace the wire that feeds the coil from the bulk head connector. This is a resistor wire. What Caddy you remove distributor from, grab this wire. You can plug new wire in place of old one. Should fit like it belongs there. The wire on the other side of the bulkhead connector will work fine. This will give HEI the power it needs. Otherwise ign system will be running on like 8 volts.

Very cool. I have a 1970 and a 1969 Cadillac hearse. Basically the exact same car, just little changes.. I also have a 1948 Packard Henny Hearse. Just like the one from The Godfather.

It was beautiful to see when I was in High school that was my first car. It was in about 1984 it was mint with 47k pig miles when I got it. I only paid 175.00 for it. I use to pick my aunt up from work at a nursing home and they asked me to please not pull in parking lot because all the patients would go crazy wondering who died lol. Very beautiful to see it again mine was silver. I did end up buying a 68 also for 900. A couple years later.. he 69 was far better of a car.

Did you by chance record any of the rear floor restoration? I just bought a 69 and the back has a lot of rot and will need redone. You did a great job, I hope mine will be just as nice when finished.

Can you let me know if you ever decide to sell it? Seriously. I'm still looking for a decent '69-70 Superior. I missed out on this coach's 1970 twin on eBay two years ago to a jacka$$ who later lowballed the seller, bought it for half my offer, and then ended up gutting it and ruining it. I don't want to post my email address here, but you can find me pretty easily on Facebook of Google. Oh, the joys of a unique last name :)

Can give any more detail on the HEI switch. Was told to definately do that right away. (72 472 Calais). Why did you choose a factory one from the 500 as opposed to a new aftermarket one? Cost or specs? how involved was the process? thank you.

Sorry for the delay, I just ordered one from the internet that fit the engine. No particular reason other then i knew it would fit. get the kit with the wires and cut to length yourself. I did take the ignition module out and replace the tiny blob of cheap cooling grease with a generous amount of better quality paste. (Arctic cooling grease was the type i think...) also the plugs i used were NGK 4268. Have not had one problem yet! Sorry again for the late reply...

soulshakerman I used a Pertronix HEI in mine, it works great. You keep the original cap, rotor and wires too. No big deal to install either. The NGK plugs work great. .060 was the gap for HEI Caddy's so I kept the same plugs and just opened the gap.

Thats for the 3-ways. The 3-ways were hearses they made for a time in the 60’s and 70’s so the casket could be loaded from the rear or the side. It had a sliding platform that would come partially out the side doors or the back.
This is a beautiful hearse!! Well done. Me and my bro have discussed going halves on an old caddy hearse at some point. Maybe some day
