- Bridging land and sea with precision: BMC proudly unveils India's first arch bridge installed by float over method in open seas, seamlessly connecting Mumbai's Coastal Road with the iconic Bandra-Worli Sea Link. The first 2000 MT bowstring arch bridge, meticulously engineered by HCC-HDC Joint Venture marks a historic milestone in Mumbai's infrastructure landscape. The second arch bridge weighing 2400 MT is ready and will be erected within the by end of May. Prefabricated bridge was transported overnight from Mazgaon Dock on a 11,000 MT barge. The erection completed in one and half hours highlights innovation and progress, symbolising a new era of connectivity.
The Coastal Road (officially to be named as Chattrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Coastal Motorway) is an under construction 8-lane, 29.2-km long grade separated expressway that would run along Mumbai's western coastline connecting Marine Lines in the south to Kandivali in the north. It is projected to be used by 130,000 vehicles daily, and is expected to reduce travel time between South Mumbai and the Western Suburbs from 2 hours to only 40 minutes.
