No he didn't learn guitar through rocksmith ( Although it did improve his guitar playing, but that's just my opinion). If you watch his," What the faq", video, it says that he has been learning guitar for half his life. I'm personally learning guitar through this game, the problem with the game is that it can't really fix your habits, but it will improve your playing greatly, I can now play sixteen saltines at 90% easily but couldn't two weeks ago.
You've really gotten better over the years. I was listening to several of your videos and during the solo on this one I was wondering if the playlist had switched to someone else because it didn't sound perfect. Then I saw that this video over 3 years old. It's inspiring to see the progress of your ability over the years.
This is how I play guitar now ever since my real tone cable mysteriously quit working, hope to see many more videos of this exuberant nature, spectacular fretting as always Riff Repeater, or should I say thenewnoelisoncruz. :D
Armando Ruvalcaba trust me when I was first learning bar chords I hated them and decided not to do anything with them. Eventually I tried learning plug in baby and now they feel like some of the easiest chords to play, mainly the E shaped ones that plug in baby has.
does the program take care of effects? like at 1:58 - where it changes from distorted to a cleaner tone. so no peddles or button pressing required? and more importantly - does program the right tone and effects pre-loaded for each song? if so im buying rite now.
Yes, it automatically switches to the tone and you can program your own (up to 4) and switch to them using your controller or keyboard. amzn.to/2cJ4vgs
Andy garcia Well lots of other life things have gotten in the way and my recording methods for posting videos weren't working. However I did manage to practice for almost 3 weeks straight and I was surprised at how much i progressed. Its definitely worth it.
Ive been playing guitar for 4 years and this song seems really easy to play but it looks kind of hard to follow up with whats on screen. Ive been wanting to buy this game though haha
what I always do is first put the riffs in practice mode at a low speed and play it a bunch of times until I memorize the tabs and then I speed it up a little bit until I can play it at full speed, then I go out of practice mode and play the full song. I fully recommend that game, it has helped me improve my skills and my song repertoire. there's a similar game for Android and ios called Yousician
holy mother of god, this is so awesome!! i watch this video almost every day ATLEAST once, i cant wait til i get this game myself!! this is my first goal.. muse sure is amazing
good job on the song, I've yet to see anybody play that bridge perfectly but you do a real good job with it. Keep working on your techniques and keep up the good work
Such a fun song im not gonna lie, while waiting for my usb guitar link these videos do really help if you want to play along and shit. 2 days of experience yet i feel so badass when i hit those tremolos on the first string
I remember those parts where you were just (it looks like anyway) vibrating the string, on GHIII you were strumming up and down furiously. I remember well, the Synth part, where the was no playing by you at all, is where I'd fail on Expert. The fun memories...
Yeah I got here from guitar hero as well, truth is, he is picking, which is kinda like strumming so the chart was pretty accurate on guitar hero, at least as far as you can get with 5 buttons. I'm nowhere near as good as this guy, but playing this song after guitar hero feels awesome :P
During the Tremolo, it looks like he's just vibrating the string instead of strumming. I really want to pick up this game, but I don't have a guitar ( a real one), nor do I have a PS3/X360 or a good enough PC, and however much it costs for the game (I'd guess about $200).
Yeah I get what you mean, but I believe it's picking, which is just really fast strumming with barely any extra movement. Vibrating the string wouldn't really make any sound at all if I'm right. I don't have the game either, just happen to play it a bit at someone else's house, they got the game for less than a $100 on a sale though.
I actually don't know a whole lot about all the different tones, other than distortion (chugging), and clean. And I can't really see what he's doing all too well. And...I don't even have $5 to my name.
FiscoDiaz I strum upwards during that part, but if it is the notes you're not getting right then try doing the riff repeater in the game and slow it down
Riff Repeater Don't listen to him man, play the guitar how your comfortable and whatevers more fun. Music should be about encouraging others, not fucking beating them down because of little things like that. By the way, good run, used to love playing this song on RS14 until I sold it due to the freezing issues!
Glenn M I agree With you Glenn, I play Rocksmith2014 to enjoy playing and learning songs. Once a week i play with my brother he plays base while i switch from rhythm and lead so we can at least have verity of songs to play together.
That's the way to be dude. Theres too many guitar "perfectionists" out there yet they play rhythm and suddenly sound like crap! They seem to forget the reason they play the instruments in the first place! Really hate that, I'd rather see someone (in this example) play a nice sounding vibrato with their finger joints, rather than an off-tone flat vibrato because they are forcibly using their wrist.
Well played man. I just started playing RS2014 and I'm back in love with playing my guitar. I can testify that you can learn to play better, much better than anticipated. I put 5 hours straight into RU Mine yesterday (day 2 of having the game), and I went from knowing nothing about that song and sucking at it, to 100% difficulty at 75% speed and 93% mastery. Like that Gretsch you have.
Who are you man? You play a lot ... I'm trying to learn and I always watch your videos !!! Have you ever been a musician or learned to play this game ???
Defenetly, its a great game and when you start playing this song its wery easy, one note at the time, and then it gets harder the better progress you make
I just got RS2014 and I'm on day 3. I couldn't be happier with the game or my guitar (Les Paul Epihone Special II). The most difficult part for me thus far is finding a comfortable position to navigate the frets, and see all six strings. And...my finger tips hurt lol!
This cable can also be used for Guitar Rig 5 and Amplitube 3. If you check my latest guitar covers they are simply using a rocksmith cable to the computer and then through the above mentioned software, no fancy interfaces or mixers required!
Hey I have a Rocksmith video on my page as well I just started my page recently, so their is only one video so far Fang Island Chompers. I also studied before the game but of course its a new way to pick up chords and riffs different skills and scales to be learned. Anyways check it out!
+Riff Repeater You are really talented I am trying to keep up with your vids you need to keep making them I am trying to learn to play just started about 4 weeks ago on rocksmith
It is because he holds his pick in a certain way that I cannot see him picking the string during the tremolo notes. Also, it is the same color as the body of his guitar. Reason found. I see him picking now. Of course, I had to watch the Knights of Cydonia music video (didn't know there was one in existence until recently) to figure this out.
that game is sick :D i only play gutiarhero and that is hard for me cause i cant play guitar :D but when i can learn it there with rocksmith then i will buy it for me
this video convinced me on getting the game xD thanks! ive always wanted to learn guitar but never really caught on to it but i feel this will help me a ton
Please don't take this as a criticism, as you were masterful after all!!! But during the muted 'E5', 'Bm', 'A' chord progression try an upward sweep technique (a [not exclusive] petrucci style); it will work better for you and you may achieve 100!!
Very good performance! You're definately a better guitar player than me, but one question: the riff before the final riff, just after the silent piece i see you picking frantically, but why not use slow upstrokes on those 3-4-5th strings? I am a lazy player, but no need to make things more difficult than they already are, right?
No, you can shake the NECK to make a slight vibrato, as some popular guitarists do, but you just don't fucking shake the hole guitar... I mean you can do it but let's say it doesn't look adequate.
So at 3:45 we're you just downstroke alternate picking? If so, that was intense I'm trying that right now but I can't switch strings fast enough or with that much control.
I'm not that good at all so do with it what you want. But try to move more from the wrist with tremelo picking you move your whole arm. Makes you tired much sooner. Just a friendly tip ;) for the rest nice playing keep it going :D
I love this! You used to be awesome at the 5-button, one-strum bar version of this song and now you're awesome at the actual song. One question: at 3:44, why didn't you just strum in one direction the B, G, and then D strings over and over? It looks like you pluck B, G, and D but all in the opposite direction. Seems like it makes it harder than it's supposed to be but what do I know???
Some guitarists, for example Josh Homme believe there is a massive difference between up and down strokes. I don't know exactly how this is intended to be played, but that could be something to do with it!
Riff Repeater Hey s it difficult playing when the eadgbe are upside down I am only wondering because I have been playing tabs when they are right side up for like 8 years now
hey guys I have a question so I been wanting to get back at playing an instrument which was the bass guitar I played the bass for school I only played for one year. Then. I stop now I wanna go back but the thing is my friend told me to learn the guitar first and then go back to bass because it would be easy. so now im stuck in between a guitar or go back to bass? any suggestion

As a person who is extremely good at reading tabs and know this song of the top of my head, I have a hard time reading note system in this game xD
im the other way around. I love this system and trust me. You will get used to it fast.
There is a setting where you can flip it vertically, so it's more like written tabs.

My arm always hurts so much after playing this song
I would say the same thing, but instead of "playing this song", i would put "fapping"
Yeah i thought that too, and then i played metallica - motor breath(intro) trust me this song is easy :D
bad technique
you, can't play it with bad technique, when you play fast you automatically play properly. It's normal that your arm hurts when playing fast.
Maciek Fortuna do you play songs by the ramones if so than its because you arm may flop around alot without you noticing.
Lovely work there. My wife loves RS2014, and is way back at beginner level. I'll show her your vid for some inspiration.

fucking 3:44 part its impossible to play!
FiscoDiaz I strum upwards during that part, but if it is the notes you're not getting right then try doing the riff repeater in the game and slow it down
i can do it with my toes
it is very easy to play it as "arpeggio""
+FiscoDiaz It's very easy XDDDDDDDDDD
Congratulations on 146,000 viewers! Now if that actually meant something is debate-able. Sworn enemies forever!
Your vibrato technique is horrible. Vibrate with your wrist, not your finger.
k
Finger vibrato is a legit technique. although is totally crap.

Very good job 2 thumbs up. One thing to work on is keeping your fingers closer to the fret board.

I remember playing this song on GH3 and rocksmith.
cant wait for this game at christmas! :D
Did you get the game?
Dude, you're bending all wrong on those vibrato parts. Use your wrist, not just your fingers, and you'll get a nicer and much more even sound.
thx
your guitar skills are amazing , how did you learn to be that good?
I hope you aren't serious.
Alpha Foxton well , i play the guitar since 2 years and the only song i can play on rocksmith on almost 100% is born on the bayou xD
aleaallee Just a small advice - don't take Rocksmith as your teacher ^^
why? i had a guitar teacher 2 years ago but now i play rocksmith because i study from 3pm to 9pm
Right, but you didnt start playing guitar with a game.
Who are you man? You play a lot ... I'm trying to learn and I always watch your videos !!! Have you ever been a musician or learned to play this game ???
It's crazy to think that the first time I saw this this looked impossible. Now this song is so easy to play now.
The song still looks slightly hard to me in a certain point in the song but overall the song does look quite easy now and it's very strange.
Did you put the pickup covers the guitar or did it come like that?
Not sure if i should get this game, im ok-ish at guitar, but not that good... should i get it?
Yes
Defenetly, its a great game and when you start playing this song its wery easy, one note at the time, and then it gets harder the better progress you make

wow, lol his picking hand in 3:45 looked like fast forward :D
I just got RS2014 and I'm on day 3. I couldn't be happier with the game or my guitar (Les Paul Epihone Special II). The most difficult part for me thus far is finding a comfortable position to navigate the frets, and see all six strings. And...my finger tips hurt lol!
Les paul. Slash special ll. Lol I found someone with the same special ll. I think? Couldn't be happier 😀😀😀
Might want to switch to a lighter gauge string to reduce the pain a bit.

Shan Prochazka The apreggio section is a lot easier than most other songs in the game.

My favourite track in the game!
It would be good... if you hadn't of played it at half the speed and then sped it up :/

Some guitarists, for example Josh Homme believe there is a massive difference between up and down strokes. I don't know exactly how this is intended to be played, but that could be something to do with it!
MrSaracuse i kinda love you for knowing that
Haha, when I like a musician or band, I tend to know a lot about them! :P
Do the different color notes have a meaning? Or are they just randomized colors? Thanks in advance
Each colour corresponds to a string.
Red - E
Yellow - A
Blue - D
Orange - G
Green - B
Purple - e
Riff Repeater Hey s it difficult playing when the eadgbe are upside down I am only wondering because I have been playing tabs when they are right side up for like 8 years now
You can switch to "inverted" to make it more like TAB in the Options menu
