True retirement in Nigeria is mostly a scam. So called retired people continue to have to support their children and grandchildren if they can. The majority of them cannot have access to quality healthcare because they are so broke and the system has no good welfare for them.

No medical bill has bankrupted anyone I know in the US. It is in Nigeria that people are detained inside hospitals as a prisoner until your medical bills are paid. First of all, you will be attended and treated in the US before they talk about your bill. But in Nigeria, no body will treat you at all. If you are lucky to be alive, the same medical bill will bankrupt you in Nigeria or you can be in mortuary until your family sells your property to settle your bills.
It takes a few years to settle in a foreign country. A lot of people people that relocated especially to UK are going around churches beging or going food banks. Its not all that easy here.
