Very nice commentary. Sierra is for those that have the capability, patience, and time to figure out how to customize it to their own style.

I totally agree with the order routing / platform rant. I used tradovate who routes with CQG, and when they lost connectivity to CQG while I was short Nasdaq, I was sweating bullets for over half an hour. Luckily the trade went in my way, but that situation made me wary of platforms that aren't provided by same entity that routes orders.
Also, I started using Sierra lately and really like it. However, I get the impression it's made by a very small team (maybe just one main guy?) who works in an idiosyncratic way and has been at it a long time already. I wonder if the software will be maintainable when he/they retire or otherwise move on.

I'm leaving TV and went to Ironbeam. They were a full bar behind on a 3 minute chart after the PPI numbers Thursday. None of the other platforms open did not lag and were in synch. I used Sierra charts once for a 30 day trial once and it's deep. Almost too much.

Hi Verrillo. Excellent video and content. The Sierra Chart is exactly what I was looking for, specially DOM part. I have a scalper profile and this DOM fits very well. But do you know which broker, that has zero/raw spread (with commission), and works with Sierra ? tks

There is literally zero reviews out there. You are pretty thorough in your reviews, you are honest and that's what i like about you.

Thank you for the kind words. I would really need to spend time with it to learn the inside outs. Time that we do not have. 😆 Most other retail software providers are better at marketing, but from a development standpoint they are mostly trying to do things SC already did 5 years ago.

Each thread can run simultaneously on a different CPU. So if your fancy AMD processor has 128 cores, it can run 128 threads at the same time. Also, if one thread has to wait (like for a server to send some market data) it can be kicked off the CPU so another thread can use it to do work (like calculating a study). Those are the two main ways threading improves performance: sharing a single core efficiently and using multiple cores at the same time.

    • @VerrilloTrading

It would depend on what you require and if SC could serve that purpose. I know an equities trader that uses volume by price (footprint) data for equities trading in the first hour. If you are fine with what you have, stick with that.

Hi Chris. Thanks for offering this great service and being so informative, just discovered your channel a few weeks ago but it has made such a huge difference in my life. Thank you and more thank you.
I would like to ask a question or two:
I want to open a SIERRA CHART TETON FUTURES ORDER ROUTING service pack 11 account. I want to choose IRONBEAM as my clearing firm.
So what do I do first, do I open an account with SIERRA first and then open an account with IRONBEAM as my clearing firm or open an IRONBEAM account first then open an account with SIERRA? What is the order?
Follow up question; Can I trade any INDICES(FDAX /DAX) and INTEREST RATES(FGBL/BUND/BOBL/SCHAZT) from the EUREX market using IRONBEAM or is the anyway other way to do this, whilst I use SIERRA as my platform of choice and execution? Am I going to need a second broker for trading the EUREX market and if so, can I connect both brokers to SIERRA and will this have extra charges? Because it does not look like IRONBEAM offers any products from the EUREX exchange or is there something am not understanding, can I trade the BUND/DAX using IRONBEAM?

    • @VerrilloTrading
      @VerrilloTrading  2 года назад +1

Hello and thank you for the kind words. The Teton order routing service right now only supports the CME group markets. To trade EUREX you would open a second account with your clearing firm (Ironbeam) and use the CQG trading service or other service that supports EUREX trading. You can use Sierra Chart for both of those accounts but I would recommend running a separate installation of Sierra for the CQG account to trade EUREX. Rather than always switching the Data/Trade service settings between your trade accounts in the same installation of Sierra.
For live trading the first thing would be opening the account with the clearing firm and letting them know which front ends you want to use and which symbols you will be trading. Then for Sierra you need to pay for Sierra usage time then pay for the exchange data through Sierra. If you need additional help just reply here or send an email through the channel about page.

    • @VerrilloTrading

We don't really think they are necessary neither helpful to traders that want to learn how to trade their own money. Of course there are different arguments that can be made about how they offer you more capital etc. At the end of the day they are a business and want to make a profit like everybody else. We would say they make things less realistic than real trading with their trailing drawdown rules. Probably the #1 thing that can skew your risk to reward and make you profitable in the long run is the ability to let ride on the last percentage of a winning trade. The proper way to let a winner ride imo is with a loose trailing stop, or maybe none at all and just a breakeven. Most of those companies have rules that make your job harder and most beginners don't know that because they don't know what trading consists of in the long run.
