- So something different today, a Stardew Valley Lore Video! This time on the war going on from which Kent returned at the start of year 1.
Also my capture card isn't great, so since I play on switch some of the footage isn't that great.

If they get shot they will just instantly heal and one salad will vanish
The farmer did what in the war
The Geneva Convention says exchanged POWs can not fight in the same conflict if exchanged, so if Stardew universe has similar rules then Kent might have gotten out of a prison by a prisoner exchange which would explain why he is not in the military anymore.

In some voice lines he mentions prison camps I think if U give him certain hated gifts he says it's what they fed him is prison camp

Funny. I assumed without thinking that the popping was just the bombs detonating at a distance. In the game you'll only hear them up close and its never really specified what the topography of the world is to know how it could distort said bombs.
Do you think magic is involved? No way to tell, but, I like to think Battlemages are involved in some way. Also the Gotoro Empire is an island empire, it kinda reminds me of Imperial Japan. When you give Kent sashimi, he is very uncomfortable and says, " This is what they fed me in the prison camp", or something like that.
I think the gotoro is referred as Japan in this game

This is so cool, great work dude! To add to your theory that it’s not a magic war, Shane’s dialogue about only believing in science during the Feast of the Winter Star suggests to me that magic might not really be known to the general public? Or at least that it’s possible for people not to know about it.
My roommate has an idea that the Gotoro empire and Ferngil might have originally been trading colonies but something happened causing the war. We compare it to how American went to Iraq and Vietnam
Just got the 3 heart event for sam, and went straight here haha. Seeing sam say that troops were falling by the thousands caught me a bit off guard in the cozy farming game. Anyways, great video!
Would be cool if year 4 started with the war becoming more serious with limited supplies not produced in the valley, blackouts, and an air raid near the end of the year. The start of year 5 could start with some villagers being conscripted (but not you because you're a farmer) and the government could start purchasing your produce or commission you to pland crops for the army. Would be cool but also really silly for a cute farming sim😅
i'm watching this video and i am JUST NOW realizing that the smuggler was from the gotoro empire. I read that "Why do you think they're so expensive" line, but i genuinely thought for some reason, that Gotoro was another city, like Zuzu.

Interesting deep-dive on the war in Stardew Valley. As of the 1.6 update release, I think it's safe to say that - on the surface of it - Concerned Ape didn't drop any more clues about the war that are obvious. Now it's possible that something has been added that I haven't come across in my play-through, but as I said, it's not something that was put "in your face." Nice video, and you mentioned books in the library I never looked for and didn't know were there. So you've given me something new to find. Thanks!

The first thing i gave him made him say they fed this to us at prison camp. I felt worried afterwards when i saw another line with distaste thinking about what happened to him in prison.
