Why would you NOT want to set the record straight to try to get your friend back? From her friends perspective, she hurt her, she's the villain, I'd want to clear the air too. That's no good reason to lose a friend.
The relationship between their 2 characters was my favorite also. This was amazing writing brought to life by fantastic acting!! The only other movie I’ve seen that was this good, both writing and acting, was Forest Gump.

That scene with her bringing the pie and her cheerful face becoming heartbroken as they laugh at her was gut wrenching. Jessica Chastain did a wonderful job in the role.
They have a very mutual friendship Minnie helps Celia heal from the heartbreak of losing all those babies And Celia helps Minnie realize her strength and get she and her babies away from a horrible man Each was exactly what the other needed: Unconditional love, respect and strength
I don't think ANYONE would voluntarily choose Hilly over Celia after meeting both. (I say this only seeing the clips on here but Wikipedia played the plot well.)
This brings back not so good memories of when my mom took me out of public school and sent me to an all girl Catholic highschool.. A lot of the girls there were cruel and hateful.. They were so mean to me.. I always try to see the best in people.. I would come home crying almost everyday begging my mom to take me out.. I made it though.. I found a group of misfit girls and they became my family.. I wouldn't have made it without them and I am forever grateful to each and every one of them..
As a Catholic...we are the absolute worst. Not all of us, but the ones who grow up with a certain mindset are among the worst people I have ever had the displeasure to interact with.

I saw “The Help” in a small very white, very affluent village here in New York. A town where there were many homes that employed black people in the kitchens during the 1930s-late 1970s. When the film ended in the small theatre I looked over at a woman sitting near me as we watched the credits. I went over and sat next to her. We both agreed what powerful performances Octavia Spencer, Viola Davis and Emma Stone gave. We both thought one being black, the other white, that The Help was a strong contender for Best Picture. An interesting experience.
I don't think Celia and Hilly were ever friends. Sge just happened to be who Johnny married & all she wanted was to be accepted but spite and jealousy wouldn't let that happen.
I’m torn whether to think it’s bad to put Bryce Dallas Howard and Jessica Chastain together or it’s so good. Welll, of course the two were fantastic for this role. But I mean, I was legit couldn’t differ those two. Not until half of the film 😂
They don't seem to dig to far into her childhood experience but Celia seems like she's the one who needed a nanny, or rather got the nanny she always needed.
Celia is actually the sweetest character in this movie. Her upbringing is actually making me curious because she doesn't have any prejudice towards anyone and she doesn't even have one towards Hilly too.
