I haven’t used my Cuttlebug in a long time but as I was organizing my crafting space I wanted to have it as an option. I’ve been searching videos to help me remember the ‘sandwich’. It didn’t occur to me that you would have a tutorial. I was so happy when this popped up in my videos. When you said remember B is for emboss and C is for cut, I thought now I can remember that! Thanks for being such a good teacher and wanting to share so we can grow!
Good video, Maymay! I hope you won't mind me adding some info here for those of us on a tighter budget. The cost per plate is lower for the B plates than it is for the C plates. So if you always put the cutting side of your dies facing the B plate, you'll save money in the long run since they cost less. It's the same sandwich though: plates A, B, and C for cutting. Also make sure to turn the B plate over and cut on both sides of it. It'll help keep the plate flatter and it'll last longer. Hope I'm being clear, I sure don't want to confuse anyone.
I’ve had one of these machines for many years(since they first came out, looks just like yours) and have only used embossing plates, thanks for showing the the other elements like the cutting dyes and magnetic plate. One other thing I liked is no electricity or computer is needed and I live on the road so these are perfect travel sized and I don’t need to plug it in. Also good for off grid homes. Thanks for the tutorial I learned a few new things.
I LOVE your instructional videos! I appreciate the SPEED and your ability to get right to the point with fantastic descriptions, instruction, and information!
I am sooo new to this craft that I don’t even know what I don’t know. I have looked at so many videos and by far yours is the most clear cut. A thousand times....thank you!
I live in Utah next to American Crafts Outlet, Provo Craft etc. l love, love, love your presentation!! I own one of the computerized, high tech ones but its a bit much to take places. You are awesome!! Perfect amt., of time taken, correct focus, clear cut explanations. Thank you!
Oh my goodness! This video is still relevant because I bought my Cuttlebug years ago and never really understood how to use it until now. I have dies from all different sources and you are so awesome!! Thank you for sharing this.
Thought I would never get into die cutting, but just got a Cuttlebug and love it! I used your step by step for introduction. Your make everything so much easier to understand. Many thanks!
Excellent video! For the first time, I understand the plates. I'll remember B for the embossing plate and C is for The cutting plate. It's locked in my little brain now.
Thank you. I have listened to lots of people explain this process without really understanding what the heck they're saying. But you are absolutely awesome. I am finally getting the picture clearly and I Thank You.
I've heard it explained dozens of times but I don't get it and my eyes start to glaze over. You made it fun, interesting and perfectly clear. Thanks, MayMay.
Very informative video, thank you. I had to laugh, I've had my cuttlebug for years and I didn't realize that the handle on the end tucks in for easier storage. Just goes to show you you never too old to learn.
I love my Cuttlebug. When you first posted about your discount code last month I bought the smaller magnetic plate, the embossing plate and a few folders I needed. Everything was on sale plus your discount plus free shipping.....What's not to love. Thanks Maymay and a Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family and enjoy your time off.
I just received my Celebrate the Season stamp set today. I LOVE it! Please tell your Mom "Thank you" for the beautiful words. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Great video but a little tip of you go to Amazon you can get the cuttlebug for $59.99 regular price and that's cheaper than going to cricut and using the 15% off. If you have Amazon prime it's free shipping and it brings a few extras. Just a little tip for those who would like to know and save some 💰 money. Love you maymay
Uh oh! Now you gotta buy a tan plate! You know you NEED it. Hee. Thank you for this informative video. I know this is an old video but I have the exact same cuttlebug. This was very helpful. The tip on remembering B plate vs C plate is going to help me alot.
So glad I watched this video today. I did not know there was a magnetic plate for the cuttlebug! I used your MAYMAYMADEIT code and put in an order of some goodies. Thank you so much!!!
I have a Big Shot and love it, but I watched a video the other day and she recommended getting one of these to sit on your desk for embossing and cutting the smaller dies. I got one from Ebay used really inexpensive. The plates cost me about the same...so for 60.00 I got it all! :) Sandy
I am getting a nice used Cuttlebug for my birthday that I bought from an online friend it. I haven't really looked at it or what is inside the box other than to lift the lid to see the color and to see if there was a C plate or a rubber mat so I would know if I needed anything else in order to use it when I get it for my birthday in July. I have been so excited about it and watching your video (the friend I bought it from sent me the link) has made me even more excited. You explained everything so clearly. I had already subscribed, but just now turned on notifications. I am looking for to watching more of your videos. Thank you!
Enjoy your video, funny I was in my craft-room today playing around with my Cuttlebug which a friend brought me it for my birthday! Watching your Video was very helpful thank you very much!! Liz God Bless! X
very informative video May May even though I've had mine for a little while I enjoyed watching for new tips. I just wanted to throw in that I use one of my B plates to cut on because it's more economical to replace just food for thought
Another very informative video; I appreciate the time you put into these, and the time you spend researching and posting the links and find information for us. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
Hi and thank you for doing this video. I had this machine once but because of "real life happens" I had to take it back. But now I'm getting it again and so this is a good video for me. Thanks Bunches. Carrie
Thanks for your video. I wasn’t sure if I needed an embossing machine but this one looks easy to use. I like your video style and length and have subscribed
Maymay I just have to tell you that I have still got my original Cuttlebug from when it first launched, it still works OK. I use a Spellbinders mat for embossing, just cut to size.
Me too. Am very attached to it. Have cuttlebug embossing mat. Just bought a Grand Calibur for large embossing folders a few years ago. My old Cuttlebug is my favourite for everything else.
Hi Maymay, your video really inspired me to get this machine. I unfortunately bought an embosser that does not cut when I was a beginner. You’re video is fantastic. You explain everything so clearly. You are such a sweet person! My problem is finding this model. Has it been discontinued? Please if you could let me know we’re to buy this I would really appreciate it! 🤞Thank you!! Have a great day!
Thanks so much for this video. I've been considering replacing my cuttlebug mainly because I didn't know I could get a magnetic plate for it, but I am going to order the short plate. Way cheaper than a new embossing machine. I love watching your videos. Thanks again.😊
I just watched this video. I loved it! I'm getting ready to retire and get back into crafting. I have the "old" Sixxix dies (to many to count lol) my question is: Can/how do I use them in the Cuttlebug?
I just purchased my first ever Cuttlebug. I've never owned a die cutting machine so this video was 👌 I only have one question, is the "C" plate a must have for using the metal dies? The Cuttlebug only comes with the one "A" plate and 2 "B" plates, so I want to go ahead and order the "C" plate if it's a must so I can start playing straight away!! I recently started following your YT channel and I wanted to tell you that I think your videos are awesome. You explain things so clearly and in terms that are easy to follow along! Thank you for sharing and imparting your knowledge. I am a mixed media girl and just recently started exploring paper crafting and making mini journals vs. the art journals I'm used to making. Though some similarities they are very different beasts. Have a wonderful holiday season!!🎄🎉🎊
Sorry, me again. I am in Canada so I am limited to my purchasing. I went on Amazon and my goodness there are many emboss and cutting dies. Do all of these work on the Cuttlebug? This certainly opens up a whole new world of crafting. Thank you.
On your next video, can you show some ideas on how to use the Joy Clair stamps with Mary and the other with the 3 Wisemen. I need some ideas. Thanks for showing on how to use the cuddle bug. May have to invest in one
How do we emboss 13” items with extended plates A or maybe it’s C and 2 B’s to emboss? Most importantly Where do we get embossing folders for the extended 13” Plates. I don’t use the Cuttlebug to die-cut, im addicted to Embossing with Embossing Folders but don’t know where to buy 13” embossing folders or if they even exist ? Any info will be most appreciated! Thank you 😊 love your videos!
I have a cuttle bug that has a date of 2009. It looks to be the same size. It is used and has no attachments. I am guessing I would order the a,b,c plates you mentioned?
Do you need the metal plate to cut dies with your cuttle bug? I got mine at a yard sale (it was still in the box) but it only had the two "b" plates and an "a" plate. They threw in some dies and embossing folders but I am sorry to say I haven't used it yet because the only thing missing was the directions. Thanks for the video. I will probably watch it several more times before using it the first time.
I just bought my first CB ..used off IOffer and I'm loving it...lol. It didn't come with plates but I also work with acrylic and happen to have a ton of sheets in various widths, handy huh? Problem is. . it doesnt roll thru without being pushed. The roller arnt gripping the plates. My question. , I suppose I just answered myself. I need to put a surface of my A plate don't I? Rough it up? Or etch it so the steel rollers don't just slide on it? I'm ASSUMING that' why it isn't being fed through by rollers. Is there anything beyond this I may be missing? Thanks in advance. And GREAT vid!
I have some lovely dies that do not cut through despite adding a thin cardboard 'plate' on top of the 2nd B plate. Is this a Cuttlebug problem or a die problem? It doesn't happen every time, but I find it frustrating. I followed your video very closely doing every step with you, but still the small die did not cut through. Any ideas anyone?

Happy Thanksgiving MayMay!!!! I am just learning about Embossing and Cutting... I have a Cuddle Bug and a Big Shot... My question is ..When you Emboss say (The Tree) you embossed...Is their a way you can Heat Emboss JUST THE OUTLINE of the Tree with a Fine Glitter and not get it on the inside of the tree???? If so could you please do a video on that so I can see how you do it??? TIA... CONNIE.
Hi I have a cuttlebug, (2nd hand) however it wasn't cutting properly, so I added an extra layer of card to give it more thickness, hoping it would cut better. Unfortunately the machine didn't like it and the side popped off. Now the rollers don't cut. Do you have ant suggestions. I am in Australia. Just watched this video thanks
First of all, I am new at this and have never seen the Cuttlebug in person, in fact I have been calling it Cuddlebug, lol. Question: can you use any dies on the market? Thank you.
Happy Thanksgiving, Maymay and family! Question: Big Shot or Cuttlebug? Is one better than the other? Enjoy your family time, and I'll look for your response next week!
Good tutorial. The other day I seen they had come out with a short magnetic mat and a embossing pad. Have a great Thanksgiving Day tomorrow and have lots to be thankful for. TFS
Hi, once you get your cardstock in the folder and start to run it thru the machine it usually does not shift, but a low tack tape will work to hold it in place, thanks
how do I stop the cuttlebug from shifting while cranking. . It slips from its magnetic position while I am embossing and die cutting. thanks, Donna Hall
I just won two cuttle bugs on eBay but they are different from each other I have one the same as yours and the other is slightly different handle does not fold in and the cutting surface is longer colours are slightly different too one is larger over all in size the larger one is the one you have, is there a way of telling which is the newest version ? Smaller one says provo craft on it ?
Your cuttlebug is much newer than mine! I got mine when they first came out! I still love it and use it! I did buy the extender plates and the embossing mat but never have gotten the metal plate yet and have wanted to but have not found a good price yet! I just keep using the tape till I do! I found a great price on the extender plates and some extra plates so I went on and got those! I do need your help Maymay.. I noticed in a video that you have the purple ATG gun! I have the same one but have not been able to find the right size of tape refill for it! I keep ordering the wrong size and it wont fit!!! Please can you help me find out where I can get the right size for this and at a good price? Thank you!!! Have a happy & Blessed Thanksgiving :)
Thank you for the video. I have a question, I bought the cuddlebug from a lady and she just had a A plate and 2 B plates. Can I still cut with 2 B plates or I have to buy a C plate? Thanks

I learned a lot from this video! Thank you!
Thank you so much for doing this video and all of your videos. It was so helpful to me. Have a Great Thanksgiving with your Family.

Kimmie, How has it been working? Did you need to get the C plate or did the dies cut out fine without it?
Thank you for posting this video, so very informative.
Sorry, me again. I am in Canada so I am limited to my purchasing. I went on Amazon and my goodness there are many emboss and cutting dies. Do all of these work on the Cuttlebug? This certainly opens up a whole new world of crafting. Thank you.
Thank you for the great video! I am getting one for Christmas
I also got the GEMINI by Crafter's Companion. I did get the Big Shot too when it was on sale. I have dies for all the machines.
On your next video, can you show some ideas on how to use the Joy Clair stamps with Mary and the other with the 3 Wisemen. I need some ideas. Thanks for showing on how to use the cuddle bug. May have to invest in one

Happy Thanksgiving May may and family
I love my cuttlebug. I have the same green one 😀
Fabulous instructional video.
Thanks so much for sharing! This ALL is new to me and I need lots of answers. Your video was most helpful and wonderfully appreciated! ~Ki'Wi'
good information. thank you for all you do. greatly appreciated. Happy Thanksgiving!
I have a cuttle bug that has a date of 2009. It looks to be the same size. It is used and has no attachments. I am guessing I would order the a,b,c plates you mentioned?
Thanks for the demonstration .
Do you need the metal plate to cut dies with your cuttle bug? I got mine at a yard sale (it was still in the box) but it only had the two "b" plates and an "a" plate. OMG thanks you SO MUCH for the coupon - totally got a cuttlebug for a steal!! ;))
Thanks so much! You saved me a nice chunk of monies!!!
What does it mean if I can't run the folder through the cuttle bug? It's too tight.
Thank you. Great teacher.
When you die cut and there are in perforations do you push them out? Great video, I just got a Cuttlebug
Thank you for the video. Do you know what the differences is in a cuttlebug and a big shot? Thank you for all your videos enjoy watch them all.

Hi , I have never seen the embossing folder that are 13" long, the biggest that i have seen is 5x7, thanks
Realize this video was shot over a month ago; not seeing answers to the most recent questions but hey, thought I'd take a shot ;-)
The first set of dies I purchased for my new Cuttlebug are the Sizzix Framelits. I have watched a LOT of videos & all have only shown how to use the Nestabilities thin dies.
MayMay - yours is the first, and only, video that doesn't say which brand thin die you're using so, here's the million dollar question - are ALL thin dies the same in regards to sandwich instruction ?
+Carolyn Sutton all but the thick steel rule does. Now some may require a "shim" but you can make that from cards stock or thin chipboard depending on what johnson machine my need. I don't have to use a shim with my dies, they seem to cut fine without them.
I tried my Framelits using your sandwich suggestion and IT WORKED ! Thanks for the quick response (I really couldn't wait to try out my new Cuttlebug).
And, LOVE your tutorials. Simple & easy to follow directions are exactly what a newbie like myself needs. Keep em coming Miss MayMay ;-)

Hope you are enjoying your machine. I made wonderful prints with them. You can print on tshirts with the cutouts.
Never knew this existed!
Very detailed, thank you!
Happy Thanksgiving, Maymay and family! Question: Big Shot or Cuttlebug? Is one better than the other? Enjoy your family time, and I'll look for your response next week!
Thank you.
Hi Maymay TFS. Happy Thanksgiving 🦃
So does this machine do fabrics ? Is that another machine
Good tutorial. The other day I seen they had come out with a short magnetic mat and a embossing pad. Have a great Thanksgiving Day tomorrow and have lots to be thankful for. TFS
How do you ensure that the pattern stays straight and doesn't make embossed pattern look lopsided? I wondered if low Tack masking tape would help?
Hi, once you get your cardstock in the folder and start to run it thru the machine it usually does not shift, but a low tack tape will work to hold it in place, thanks

If we want to stamp on the embossed paper do we do that before or after running it through the Cuttlebug? Thanks for the video.
Have you found a spongy mat yet for embossing with a die cut?
