    This is by far the very best video I have seen on the Cuttlebug.
    It’s very clear and concise. No rambling. You stay on subject. I like the way you show each piece of the sandwich slowly and carefully.
    Thank you so much!

    Awesome tutorial!! I bought a good used Cuttlebug from a friend last year for $35. It had lots of extras with it. But I haven't been able to use it yet because of health issues. I have watched tons of videos about the Cuttlebug but this was by far the best and easiest to understand. Feeling much more confident on the sandwich placement now. Thank you!! Can't wait to try it out hopefully soon!!

    I love it. The only tip I can offer is to turn your machine to where you are turning your handle straight away from you, not having to turn the handle in an awkward position. I do realize that you are probably doing this because of the way you need to position the machine for your camera. But if not, maybe my one little tip can help you even a small percent of how much your tutorial has helped this newbie. I have arthritis and am always conscious about how things can be made to move easier. Blessings!

    To cut the bell die out first without the embossing mat: sandwich like this A plate, gray embossing mat, B plate, cardstock, die, B plate Pass it through the Cuttlebug.
    Then, to emboss, move the embossing mat so it is on the B plate under the cardstock. A, B, embossing mat, cardstock, die with die cut still in it, then last B plate. Pass it through again. It will then be Cut, and Embossed.

Now that I have watched your video, I know exactly what to do.I had also purchased several dies and was anxious to get started. I discovered that the machine did not come with the C plate which seems essential to use. Not too happy about that. I just ordered the plate on Amazon and have to wait 2 days for it to come.

      I agree, the C plate should come with it.. even if it's costs a few dollars more since you end up having to buy it anyway. I can't imagine anyone would buy this machine for embossing only.

    I’ve had my Cuttlebug for years. One thing I don’t like about it is that it rocks around and the suction cups don’t really keep it stable. I know I want to get one of the larger, flatter machines as they seem to be sturdier. And I recently saw that Cuttlebugs are now discontinued.

    I really enjoyed your video, I do want to share that I have a Cricut Expression machine also I bought a few years ago and have used it ALOT...But now that I have the Cuttlebug I go to it 1st. unless I want bigger cut outs, the Cuttlebug is so much quicker AND easier to use, I don't have to put a cartridges in and push buttons to cut something quick. But I also really like having both machines I make lots of big letters and figures ECT. with having both I can do so much more, the cuttlebug is great for cards, scrapbooking, journalists etc. it is quick to use like I said I love having both.

    This was a great video. For some reason even the makers of the Cuttlebug don't even put out informative videos like this. Craftie I just got a Cricut for Xmas and was wondering if I should get the Cuttlebug too. Do you have both and have you thought about contacting the company and maybe partnering with them to do demonstration videos? Your video really has convinced me I need both machines. 🙂

      @Craftie  6 лет назад

      I only have the Cuttlebug. It’s my very first die cutting machine ever but I am really loving it! I love the compact size. I’ve never tried a Cricut. You’ll have to let me know. As for the idea for demonstration videos, oh my! That would be wonderful. But I wouldn’t have a clue where to even begin on trying to do something like that. Is that pretty easy to get into?? I don’t know anything about it.

      Craftie, there's a link on the Cricut website at the bottom under the Company heading about becoming a partner if you have a following on social media like RUclips, etc. I'm not sure what the requirements or perks are, but good luck if you decide to do it. 👍🏾

    • @Craftie
      @Craftie  6 лет назад +2

      Yes, I definitely recommend the C plate. You'll get such a crisp cut if you have your A and B plates on bottom, then your paper and die with the C plate on top. You can get the plates pretty cheap on Amazon. Here's a link: amzn.to/2jxZ3iy

    how do Cuttlebug owners determine the type of embossing folders they need?

    • @Craftie
      @Craftie  6 лет назад +1

      Great question. Thanks for bringing it up. You are so right that this is not usually addressed. In fact, at the time of making this video, I wasn't sure of this myself. I'm learning right along with you. I have since learned that the most commonly used "heavy" cardstock is 110 lb. Here is a link to some 110 lb. that I have been using from Walmart. It's inexpensive and it cuts and embosses beautifully:

    I notice you have placed the die face down. The booklet shows face up. Do you recommend one over the other?

    • @Craftie
      @Craftie  6 лет назад +2

      I prefer face down. I find it easier to get it placed exactly where I want it on the paper this way. If you do it face up, then your paper or cardstock is face down and you can't really see what part you're cutting unless you tape it into position first. It cuts by applying pressure to press the cutting edge through the paper. This pressure is the same in either position. Just turn it which ever way is best for you. But make sure that the plate you have on the side of the die with the cutting edge is the one that you don't mind having the cut marks in. I try to keep all my cut marks on one of the plates only. Very good question. Thanks so much. :-)

    i have watched a few videos ... why do people put all kinds of things in the sandwich .. like the pads etc .. i am confused...

    • @Craftie
      @Craftie  5 лет назад +2

      Each plate is a specific thickness. The “sandwich” is the combination to create the thickness to apply the right amount of pressure to cut or emboss. For example the B plate is thinner so that it doesn’t apply enough pressure to cut or tear the paper. So this is added for embossing. The C plate is thicker and will apply enough pressure to cut when added to the sandwich for wafer thin dies which are used for cutting thin materials such as paper and cardstock. It’s a thick sandwich because of the A plate, which can be removed from the sandwich to use thicker steel rule dies as they are about the thickness of the A plate. Steel rule dies are used to cut thicker materials such as chipboard, leather, wood veneer, etc. I hope this helps.
