Not sure if you’re burnt out on Superhero, but If you’re interested, (shameless plug) I got a video for that too. Keep up the grind! 💯
Also, thanks to everyone else that tuned into the video!

A huge reason why the Granolah Saga was received relatively poorly was because it was basically constant fighting with monthly chapters, and it took around 2 years for the saga to finish (24 chapters, 1 chapter per month) so it often felt like nothing was changing month to month and characters were just endlessly powering up. And then of course Toei Bardock fans being pissy over Canon Bardock.
When you read the entire saga in one go it flows much more nicely. It makes me envious of anime-only fans because when (If) the DBS anime returns they'll have a much nicer first time experience with animated fights, music and weekly episodes.
aww man it was bardock fans !?
@TSO_Sage not that much really although I do agree that father of goku burdock is cooler than minus bardock.
Z Bardock was in the manga so he is canon, the problem with dbs it´s that it keeps retconning Dragon ball Z every year.

I love how this arc emphasizes that unearned power isn’t reliable long term
Its funny how it is emphasised with almost all enemies goku faces. It helps that its in contrast with him.
Sadly the arc right after erase the whole moral learned from that arc.
@@sc-1918 Yeah i get it cause Gohan’s felt unearned in the movie but I genuinely think they’re setting up broly to be the answer to “What if someone with Gohan’s potential took training seriously” to show the difference between earned and unearned power. I ain’t gonna spoil why i think that in the comments just in case but it’ll make more sense when he goes over the Super Hero arc

@@Echo-nn8dt well i mean raditz and goku wouldn’t be able to thrive if they died there.
@@Thing_of_somes I know
@cameronl1859 thriving ≠ being mr.popular either. He survived, lived his life accordingly, probably even could’ve been seen as pretty successful for a saiyan (especially considering he’s one of the 1% to even survive) and fucked up soon as he landed on earth. I can’t say he didn’t thrive just because he got picked on by his superiors and died at the hands of his brother/piccolo, because Goku died at the same time BUT Goku made friends and they had their own dragon balls to make a completely separate wish to bring Goku back eventually. It just seemed to be Raditz getting in his own way at that point.
Goku near the end really said "Fuck feelings? Nah. Return to monke."
I always bring this up too, think of this. Friezas three months of training was just him torturing a soldier, now he spent 10 years alone in a chamber of pure white where the temperature fluctuates from near zero to hundreds of degrees, the gravity gets stronger the deeper you go, and any normal person would go insane alone in that chamber. He got 10 years of excruciatingly hard training to better his body, mind, and spirit.
I honestly don't know how they can kill Frieza at this point when he spent all this time doing actual intensive training considering the fact he went from being probably under Android 19 to the level of gods in a fraction of it. I'm pretty sure even Gogeta or Vegito get boxed by him in Black form.
@@castform7Yeah I don't see how people would think Gogeta would stand a chance when Frieza probably trained for Brolys monstrous growth, and him seeing gogeta in action made him make sure he was EXTRA prepared for everything the Saiyans have
We need to throw all of them in a time chamber for 10 years just to even reach anything close to him
How does the time chamber work, his body aged 10 years but mind proccessed 10 days? Or was he literally physically isolated for 10 straight years, because if thats the case thats completely unrealistic for freiza to behave normal after that much isolation and bordom
@@IIIISaiFrieza will literally in hell for longer period of time and was being mentally tortured, and came back just fine, this is totally different he chose to be in the chamber for 10 years, and frezia isnt a social person anyways he doesn’t need company.

@@HKambinda He's talking about when the Oracle fish notices Gas but doesn't say that he is the universe strongest, hinting at someone stronger such as Frieza
My favorite part about this arc is honestly just the idea of having the antagonists wish to be the strongest. Just feels like such an obvious thing for the bad guys to do, yet it's never happened until now.
It makes it even better that it's done with a new, monkey's paw like dragon too
I hate ot tbh just makes it seem unearned and the facy that it happens twice is crazy
@@user-gk6nt5gi5n They are bad guys lol, why would they care about it being unearned? It would take so long to train to get that far, it wouldnt make sense.
@@tiltedxfn3635 the fact that they can just wish to be stronger than anyone makes it hollow. Cell had to plot and be cunning to get his power. While frieza was an impossible obstacle that had to be over come.

This reaction is making me appreciate this saga more. I'm glad to finally see someone actually be cool with the Bardock stuff and gas up Frieza's potential.
So dumb
Why would people whine about Bardock appearing here? He's true to his character and it doesn't damage the canon story in any way. Him being able to take Gas has the very simple explanation that Gas was much weaker 50 years prior to him fighting Goku, Vegeta and Granolah which makes total sense. Goku recognizing Bardock's sentence? Absolute peak. No idea how you can hate on this
@feested3402 Yes it does. Bardock didn't care about Goku and Raditz like that, you didn't even see him with Gine during the original story. He wasn't so sentimental, and takes away from the race which gave him visions of frieza's betrayal but having Elec and Gas tell him.

An underrated arc. People think it's the worst thing ever when you have Copy Vegeta(tbf nobody considers this an arc really), U6 vs U7 where a lot of the early fights are just boring, and started the trend of Buu being asleep. Which the Moro actually kinda fixed a bit. Probably the second best or third best arc overall in super. In the entire series, it's a pretty alright arc. Plus the setup for the future is crazy ngl with how the arc ends. As for Granolah as a character, cool ass design imo, and pretty good thematics. I'll say this the big gripe people have with this arc is the wish that happened in the past, people assume it made Goku destined for greatness. When Goku still had to do all he did, all the wish is give Goku a chance for greatness. And the same applies to Raditz, the wish is basically implied to be the reason they "survive" Plantet Vegeta's explosion. Also people saying Ultra Ego didn't win it's first fight, neither did UI(in the anime). Back to Granolah, the dude is basically meant to represent Vegeta's past, and as for why he still beats Vegeta narratively in their first fight is because of Vegeta and Goku still needing one more push, which they later get in the arc. As for Gas, the dude is pretty ight. Nothing inoffensive when literally bro had to become bones to still keep up. Meaning even without the interference at the end, Goku and Vegeta woukd gain enough strength to fully surpass if the fight kept going.
Sorry for the holy yap.
Good assessment, tho the main issues with the arc is well..
Goku as usual is a regressed child of a man he was in Z, dialogue and immature round design showcase this, his presence is not the same as buu saga goku simply being there, blank state mind, but still hes enjoyable because hes goku
Granola sacrficing his years and doing everything just to spare gas elec last minute was horrible writing
Vegeta was amazing this arc although true ui kinda stole the show but vegeta set up so much for his character here
Frieza not only spoiled his way of training which was dumb, he sparred the two, so if in a future arc freiza dies this moment is extremely cringy
In super standards this is the closest to S tier we will get unless you count TOP, every arc in the manga flows better and the dialogue is way better than the anime and scaling, i do think the manga is good but we cant ignore baby face goku, I do think this arc is above moro personally, goku giving a senzu and contradicting his character and needing last minute help was not it
I yapped more than you sheesh
the people that "assume goku is destined for greatness" just use the wish to hate on super cuz the best the wish could of done for him is get him to a power level of 300 and then die
heck there's a better argument for raditz to be "destined for greatness" cuz he got to a power level of 1500 before he died
see it doesn't make sense
@@hassentrh2118 Yeah, but Goku also came back from the dead. Multiple times. Whose to say Raditz won’t too? I feel like that was foreshadowing.
@@i_like_videogames9517 raditz would never come back cuz he's weak af
the only way to bring him back is to wish him back and then put him in the time chamber for 50 years to train and even then he won't even come close to goku and vegeta's powers

@@hassentrh2118 Well, people can train in Hell, right? Frieza did. So, Raditz could too.

The crazy thing about this is in guides the gain frieza got from his android saga to his ROF appearance was so great it was compared to frieza getting "Infinitely stronger"
Imagine 10 years opposed to the few months he did before 💀
To make it even more crazy narratively it's implied he could be stronger than vegito/gogeta
Just how are they going to explain Beerus being stronger than Black Frieza? They can't move that goal post forever... Makes me laugh when people thought Goku and Hit could take out Champa in the Universe 6 arc just because they startled him lol. I dont even think Black Frieza could take Champa despite him being weaker than Beerus 😅
he definetly is stronger than gogeta/vegito
it would be stupid of him to witness gogeta's greatness and not make sure to surpass him
@@SACKBOY123432beerus is a god of destruction, trained by an angel for eons? You have no idea
I'm not sure why people hype Black Frieza so much. It's true that he's stronger than everyone there since he killed Gas but Gas was pretty much half dead (still the strongest there) and had just received an emotional shock (him finding out his brother pretty much sentenced him to death just to make him stronger) and after that Frieza knocked out Goku and Vegeta who were just being beaten to a pulp by Gas. Sure he's stronger but saying he'd beat a hypothetical Gogeta/Vegito in MUI or Ultra Ego? Please.
@@feested3402 Goku and vegeta had gotten a full heal when frieza showed up, he blitzed and one shot a full HP goku and vegeta in their strongest states
It's also been confirmed that beerus is on the edge of reaching the level of a destroyer.
Don't forget how much stronger he got from his cyborg self in Z to becoming strong enough to destroy a macrocosm in 4-6 months I can't remember which it was
10 years in a time chamber is absurb
Also even though gas was half dead he was physically stronger due to the conditions of the wish so he wasn't weak by any means
You know what I need. A conversation between Bardock and Grandpa Gohan.
The fact that the wish for Gas to become the strongest in the unvierse kept taking years of hos life to maintain that title as the strongest is insane, especially considering how when he tried to age and surpass Frieza he simply died because Frieza was too far ahead of him.
Fuck a crashout, Granola is a whole 13 car pile-up in the middle of the interstate, NO SURVIVORS.
This was one of my favorite arcs for sure. Great character designs for the new characters, nice job connecting old storylines to the present, and Toyotarou's art and fight choreography improved even more from the Moro arc!
An interesting thing about UE is that Vegeta doesn’t exactly have to get hit to get stronger. It’s a mindset transformation the higher his battle soul or excitement gets the stronger he will get. Taking damage just gets him more fired up.
This arc was peak. Goku Black's arc was previously my favorite but now whenever this arc gets animated it might just take that spot.

The funny thing with Granolah is, it seems like the reason he’s so stubborn is that he must have been planning this revenge for the last 40 years. When you’ve been thinking about doing something for 40 years, it’s very hard to convince them not to do it 😂
Bardock’s comeback is top tier

The fact that this man said, “dis ninja is on crack” makes you one of the GOATs already.
Got something to watch when I get off work, good looks Sage!!🙏🏾
2 interesting things Justin's Den missed in the video:
The Dialogue on Planet namek with Elder Mouri (around 21:40) implies that Namekians don't originate from Universe 7 (I would also assume this applies to U6 as well) but seemingly migrated there from another universe (or somewhere else in the multiverse) all together (The goat Carthu brings it up in his Granola arc video)
Also True UI isn't a 3rd unique state of Ultra instinct, but is Goku just using UI Omen to better tap into his emotions better (I think you did pick that up, but generally people get confused about that so I figured it way worth pointing out, especially since post Superhero manga content still doubles down on the silver hair MUI being Goku's strongest form).
Overall, I like the arc more than I did originally on this rewatch, but still feel comfortable saying I like Moro & the TOP better. Generally I just find this arc a bit messier than those 2 despite its peaks (which it has some strong ones, but it's lows do irk me personally). I'm not a fan of how the Bardock wish kinda implies Goku only survived throughout OG DB at times due to the wish rather than his own hard work (or at least I feel like it kinda undermines a lot of OG DB stuff imo). Also I find the conclusions for Goku's & Vegeta's character arcs in this saga kinda underwhelming & leaving things to be desired imo. Still a great arc though.
"especially since post Superhero manga content still doubles down on the silver hair MUI being Goku's strongest form"
it was said by whis at the beginning of the arc that goku needs to learn how to use UI all the time in his base form and use MUI as a last resort. it still applies at the end of the arc with goku using it against gas with the avatar form
Well, it is known that the creator of the Dragon Balls was a Namekian and one as powerful as Zenosama if I remember correctly, so surely the Namekians descend from that great Namekian.
17:48 I’ve always thought of this when he said it in the Resurrection F movie… I was like so we just gonna not talk about this or?😂

This is my favourite arc in DBS. Great fights, characters, development, and transformations. All around, a very solid story❤
Goku with ui is like ALI
While vegeta is like Tyson
Beerus saying that in order to grow stronger is that vegeta has to forget all else and focus on destruction which reminded me of toppo during the tournament of power when he turns into his destruction mode he starts saying that justice is no longer his drive if it can’t save his universe he says he’s disregarded all else and only focus on destruction no matter the price
That's why I didn't like it
In my head canon I would say raditz WAS thriving in his own way, but he met up with Goku the OTHER guy that got wished to thrive as well. Here’s the thing they both got fucked up when they met each other, but Goku got the help he needed and raditz didn’t. So in a sense bardocks wish makes sense at least to me
The latest dragon ball super arcs do amazingly well in story, they genuinely do, they only suffer from the fact they have too many contradictions and retcons. The granola arc had such a great ending, utilising every introduced character, but that Bardock scene is so prominent that it really messes up the enjoyment. Also month to month helps nobody.
We never found out what Elec _specifically_ wished for, but I think Sage was right on the money about the "will always be the strongest" part, and the wish kept going until Gas didn't have any more of his lifespan left to burn through.
I like how the writer gives the azzz pull wish a weakness and also show that even though you are and may be the strongest experience is still a factor which makes it much more entertaining
I think I understand how goku become animalistic after he achieve his own ultra instinct. Saiyan is natural animalistic and he blast gas with his mouth blast like a beast
I had an idea of an arc where earth is surrounded by a force from a different universe where a technological race sucks the ki out of the planets.meanwhile all the sayians lose all their ki and can't even fly. They have to use their actual martial arts skills only which would have the sayians use stolen mechs from the alien beings which patrol earth to take ki from earth. Lots of people on earth die let's just say in the end the sayians do get outside of the earth ki bubble by using guns grenades and mechs and in the end fight the aliens own mechs

THIS ARC NEEDS TO BE ANIMATED
I do appreciate Sage for opening this up with "Ayo support the creators". I did not understand the comments for the Moro reaction especially since a multitude of people asked for it. "Well I didn't", there saved people a reply. People can condense the manga story however they feel fits their content best. There's nothing wrong with Justin going over every detail. There's no problem with Carthu just talking about the very important story bits while also chiming in to review and give his takes. It's 2 different styles of recap and if you don't mess with one, that's cool too, but there's nothing inherently wrong with either approach.
