2017 Iceman 100 Middleweights at Bluegrass Indoor Karting

This video I recorded of the January 25th, 2017 Iceman 100 Baby Powder Race (Middleweight Division) at Bluegrass Indoor Karting (BIK) in Louisville, Kentucky. I recorded the video with a foreward facing camera mounted to my helmet's chin guard and another rearward facing camera mounted at the back of the kart. I then edited the video using Corel VideoStudio Pro X8 software.
For this race the track is coated with Baby Powder to make the surface extremely slick. You must constantly be on the lookout for where you can find grip in the track surface. Although it may not sound like it in the video, you must constanly work the throttle to keep the tires grabbing the surface. You also have to choose where you attempt to pass wisely. you will notice that usually when I attempted to make a pass on the outside the kart got very loose from the loose powder sitting on top of the track outside of the primary racing line. This can add seconds to a lap and cause you to lose positions, as happened to me early in the race.
This is one of the many competitive events held annually at BIK, and in my opinion, one of the funnest events. BIK hosts a competitive event each month, as well as Open and Youth Leagues. The karts are well maintained, as well as the facility, and the staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to help new drivers to help them improve their driving and lap times.
