Hello Sir. You are correct. I’m from the states and many are very upset with our lack leadership stepping up to the facts and data. We have very poor managers not leaders. Thank you for what you do. It’s highly appreciated.
I started wearing a mask early during this outbreak when it was "suggested". My leaders are Dr. John Campbell, nurses, and my personal Doctor. Not some politician. Thank you Dr. Campbell for what you do. All the best. Mitch 🙏

Betsy Larcom the comments here reflect the problem in the states. Divisiveness and name calling have replaced constructive dialogue and civility. Cheap shots and name calling are easy and don't require reflection and critical thinking.
Hi Betsy. The UK government is nearly as bad but it remains to be seen exactly how much control we have as lockdown is relaxed. We can't trust the BBC so the Doc is providing a service here too. Please ignore the trolls - they are easy to identify due to capital letters and certain brain-dead buzz words.
Here in Portugal we all use masks since beggining of May in public closed places. No one is refusing to wear then, we all understand why we should do it...
I live in America’s Deep South. Even in this profoundly backward region, it appears that most people are wearing masks in shops. I’m feeling optimistic that we will eventually prevail against the virus. As one of your countrymen once said, “You can always count on the Americans to do the right thing... after they’ve tried everything else.”
@perrandy2011 You had a good argument until you said "and higher taxes". While the deep south may not be backwards, your attitude is. The ridiculous aversion to public funding through tax revenue is a large part of what holds back the United States in general and the Deep South in particular.
Those of us who were affected by the HIV tragedy in the 80s remember Dr. Fauchi: he was the most visible, compassionate man in the government. When the ACTUP activists demanded a place at the table of drug development and approval, Dr. Fauchi listened to the leaders of ACTUP and advocated for them so that we *did* have a seat at the table. He's an amazing person. Yes, he's human. He tried, again, to bridge the divide and to please both Trump and the science. But, he's human and he can make mistakes. I believe he always knew masks were there right thing, but he gave in to pressure from Trump. Unlike Trump, Fauchi never had bad motivations. If Dr. Fauchi is a celebrity, it's reluctantly. He knows he must be present in people's minds to be effective while at the same time not being a celebrity. We haven't seen him on TV much lately, when it would be so easy for him to book interviews and get exposure. He obviously doesn't want it. All he would have to do is say the truth: Trump has been lying to you. But he won't go there. He's too much of an adult to lower himself to Trump's level. I respect Dr. Fauchi as one of the great, selfless scientists of our time. I think those of you not in the United States don't understand just how corrosive and malignant the Trump administration really is. Fauchi got involved in a situation where no matter what he did, Trump would fault him for it. He realizes he can't win, so he's gone back to work.
Well said Brian - I'm not a 'medical person' - just a retiree with a dear wife - while both of us are considered 'vulnerable' due to our ages and underlying medical issues.. so, I have the time to watch many RUclips channels - like this one - to keep up to speed - it is scary, especially to people like us who really only have ' one chance ' ie don't catch it, but wait for a viable vaccine.. I don't believe Dr Fauci has appeared on the WH Cvid 'team' for nearly 2 months, no doubt because he is not your normal ' Trump yes-man ' - I've seen him directly contradict Trumps' ' it'll go away ' - ' it's only like the flu ' assertions several times, and I've seen both his appearances before Congress and the Senate as an 'expert witness'.. he certainly does not come across as a 'celebrity' as Dr John implies - I bet he's so glad he is no longer 'called' to back up his ( T ) abject lies to the people.. and this is for you Dr John - try ' Admiral 'Grrr-wahr ' - summat like that - tho' a little less of a 'yes-man' than arse-lickin' Pence, he just now starting to tell the truth.. but what is it with these high- ranking military 'experts'.. surely the President can't sack them on a whim?.. afraid to lose their pension or what.. and all this from a coward who dodged his own military draft - 5 times?.. it's time this guy was sent to the 'funny farm' before he does anymore damage..
Dr Fauci is a world renowned virologist who has been around since the the AIDS epidemic since almost 40 years ago. How anyone can dispute this man's credentials is beyond me.
As an American, I can only apologize to the rest of the world. We are governed, with some exceptions, by brainless money and power hungry politicians and have far to many entitled idiots who care about nothing but themselves. It’s embarrassing and frightening at the same time.
dav264 I did think you guys were going in right direction with the huge testing numbers and states locked down but certain states closed too soon whilst others didn’t close quick enough. Most countries messed up looking after the elderly and after your initial mistakes in that dept the low death rate appears to say you guys have done a good job there.
Then you get a president who finally truely cares about the people instead of a bloody globalist and the whole world piles in against him - which proves what a threat he is to the new world order.

Dr Fauci is an American physician and immunologist who has served as the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) since 1984. During the early stages of the pandemic, The New Yorker and The New York Times described Fauci as one of the most trusted medical figures in the United States and a leading expert on infectious disease. As a physician with the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Fauci has served American public health in various capacities for over 50 years, and has been an advisor to every U.S. president since Ronald Reagan. He has made contributions to HIV/AIDS research and other immunodeficiencies, both as a scientist and as the head of the NIAID at the NIH, and from 1983 to 2002 was one of the world's most-cited scientists in scientific journals. He is not a celebrity. He doesn't even sell pens.
Dr. Fauci is just being blamed because Cheeto-head is jealous of his reputation (rightly so) and that Americans trust Fauci more than him. No one with an ounce of brain cells would trust what Cheeto-head says. So he's just being a childish bully.
Ask yourself: but what does Mrs. Fauci sell? Who is Mrs. Fauci? What investments do the Faucis hold & profit from? I trusted him at first but he lost 1000 points with me over time... and then I did the research... 🙈🙈🙈
I don't understand this issue in respect to culture,I live in Lanzarote and Iam sure the canarians were not born with a mask on,but what the canarians have is a responsible attitude towards safety of self and others, let's making a mask become socially acceptable throughout the world.
I always appreciate people with flexible minds who can evolve with facts as they understand them. What is offensive is people who hold their view no matter how facts/conditions change.
Dr Campbell, I’m somewhat cross with you regarding your uncharacteristically harsh comments on Dr Fauci. Do not judge so harshly those that find themselves battling the disease on multiple fronts; health and politics.
Yes. The Dr has not done his research on Fauci. Another helpful hint is to understand the psych of an American is culturally different from his own. Might be good to temper your feed with an American representative. An expert of American/English political history would be excellent

@shemp. When Dr C covers how US doing with virus it’s impossible to keep politics out of it. The US has become the United States of Plague primarily due to our Pres’ hateful lack of leadership and discounting the virus.
I've been wearing a mask even when my government was saying they're dangerous and should never be used by the public. It's really not that big of a deal and they make a huge difference in slowing down the spread.
@EmtronVenger it is deem not healthy to wear for long period of time, at best 4-5 hours. Hence why recommended to wear only when you are in contact with other people or outside in crowded area. If you are alone at home or workspace of-course you can do without. Mandatory masks outside and specially lock-down in initial days has made a difference in my home country - currently 2 active cases with a population of 1.3 million.
It really is not a big deal, just pop it on when going into a public place. Simple. It doesn't make anyone a 'sheep' or whatever, but may save a life. I suspect people like to not wear one as a public proclamation of their disregard of others.
It’s terrifying living in the US. Very little leadership, people actively resisting wearing masks as a political statement, and so many people partying like theres no tomorrow. God help us!

I thought things couldn't be weirder elsewhere than it is in the US. Then I read about Philippe Monguillot, the bus driver in France who was beaten to death for asking his passengers to wear masks.
In the U.S. the primary strategy was never _minimum number of infections_ . The primary strategy was to control the infection rate so as to not overwhelm the hospitals. Secondary strategies, adopted when the virus was better understood, were to offer protect to those most vulnerable.
To be fair, I live in an place where there have been few infections, which means we will be pretty much in isolation until there is a vaccine. During 3 months we had 4000 empty hospital beds. It would have been better to have a CONTROLLED and reasonable number of cases. I don't want people to die at all, and maybe medicine is better now at treating it, but there seems to be no choice but to have people get it. To me, in Canada, there has been such a mishmash of direction in the US. And the denial, but we won't talk about that...
My thoughts also. The CDC and FDA seemed to have a strategy of trying to get it to spread as fast as possible until the end of March, and then lockdown because that's the only option left, and then open back up so we don't all go on welfare even though it's spreading uncontrolled.
My paternal grandmother is (thankfully) still alive and healthy at 105 - I've already gotten an ear-full about her first-hand experience with the Spanish flu - she was there and she still is sharp as a tack!
My great grandmother lost both her parents to the Spanish Flu. They were in their early fifties. She was 19 years old and left alone. A lot of single parents raising children today . They need to get this under control..
Actually there were anti-mask leagues back then too. It’s so incredibly stupid that we forgot about it and also the dire consequences of these kinds of actions. It was couched in the same kind of pro-freedom language as well. We Americans are always trying to be free in the most selfish and moronic ways. Actually it’s just a bunch of immature and psychologically unstable adults throwing tantrums when reality doesn’t match up to their expectations. We are leaderless at the moment and you all in the outside world should be seriously concerned. We have been couped and most of us haven’t noticed this yet. It’s going to get much worse. Please be on your guard, I fear our country may start lashing out at others because it’s all we seem good at anymore. I’m afraid. We are very lost and I don’t believe Biden will be our next president. He is simply out of touch and ineffective. I also believe that regardless Trump may threaten the electoral college or their families. We don’t get to pick our president truly, it’s just a handful of people who are supposed to promise to vote a certain way. There’s no way to guard them from being manipulated.
@@Justlookin958 the issue was two fold. in America there were people STUPID enough to form anti mask societies and secondly people considered it an infringement of their civil rights to be told to isolate. in consequence America had a HUGE AND TOTALLY PREVENTABLE DEATH RATE., golly almost as if it's happening now.
Not forgotten. People are not educated enough or think that mask wearers are 'sheep' and being dictated to by the government. People think of themselves, "I have a right to breathe fresh air!" rather than seeing the bigger picture. THERE IS STRENGTH IN UNITY but it is finding a way to change these people's opinions, or despite our best efforts of wearing masks and educating ourselves, we will be brought down by the few.
I know. I used to feel fine about being American, now I just feel ashamed and like I have to make clear to people in other countries that "I'm not like most Americans." now.. :***-( I can't believe so many people can act so oblivious.
Dear Dr John please understand that as incomprehensible as it is, here in the US we are no further along in coping with the pandemic than in March and that is completely due to our political problem. Literally last week the “president” said things were improving and too many still believe him which horrifies those of us who are of normal intelligence. Please know that here in New Jersey masks have been mandatory for ages (all businesses have signs saying so) and we have only outdoor dining as part of “phase 2” reopening. Everyone complies and so we are seeing improvements but sadly I now see a lot of people wearing their mask under their nose. Also it’s appalling that malls have reopened but not pools so instead of people outside in the sunshine they’re enjoying my country’s national pastime of shopping in the air conditioned mall but at least the food courts aren’t open for indoor dining. It’s all so haphazard that it’s obvious no one knows what to do because again the “president” contradicts any scientific statements no matter how basic. Perhaps you missed it in UK but he did hypothesize about taking disinfectants internally to kill the virus. It’s a very sad situation here in the US and I ask your followers to keep America in their prayers.
At least you're seeing people pretending they care in NJ. Not in NYC! People are out drinking and partying. No masks, no social distancing. Full on spring break crowds. They made my block "Open streets" for outdoor dining so it's like Mardi Gras out there. Guaranteed uptick in NY. I fear we will be back to square one again.

@David Liptrot Actually, outlaws in history have worn masks. It seems like you might be the government toady. . Probably not, but it seems that way as far as mask thing.
I live in California and what I see is that 20-30 year olds will NOT wear mask for whatever reason...it is very selfish of them. People are partying like it is a holiday... basically people have lost their minds.
People need goof information to have good behavior. Where's the science? Where are the random invitation studies? . What % of people are infected? We don't know without those studies. . I think it's not the young people who are crazy it's the people who know that science works but refuse to use it. E.g., adults and "leaders."
Dr. Campbell -I’d love it if you can secure an interview with Dr. Michael Osterholm from University of Minnesota. The two of you are my most trusted sources for reliable information on this pandemic.
Nicole Barker Osterholm is awesome! He even predicted in his book “The Deadliest Enemy” what was going to happen in a Pandemic like this. He warned about the fact that things like Protective Equipment (Masks) would not be available because of the disruption of the global supply chains. That is what I call a real Expert.
At my work in Portland no one was wearing masks. Until two of my co workers, which are my friends as well, got covid. That was a reality check for everyone here. Now everyone does and no one else has gotten covid. And I was getting crap from my supervisor for wearing a mask, before my company mandated mask wearing, because he is super right politically. It really is weird how people political views work. I honestly think mask wearing and keeping clean prevented us from having an outbreak.
My friend is going through the same thing. When he went back to work a few weeks ago he was the only person wearing a mask so he finally gave up wearing one too. I'm just waiting for the fallout.

These bellends who've broken covid-19 lockdown rules don't have any respect for the NHS or anybody else. I mean what's so important about a beach visit or george floyd? Mexico better stop letting Americans in or your numbers will get worse. I know a lot of friends here from the US going to Mexico on vacations because of lock downs here. No one should be letting in Americans. The numbers are out of control here.
That's exactly the thing which is happening all over the world. Yes there are some numbnuts but majority are wearing masks specially outdoor. In the middle east people started wearing mask in February before they made it mandatory. Even though the lock-down has been removed now and life has resumes now, we are still wearing masks and gloves as well.
I don’t think most doctors said masks were needed very early on however as it progressed Dr. Fouchi did say we need to wear mask. President Trump is the one making so many mistakes. President is only worried about reelection and the enconmy which is why he’s trying to discredit Dr. Fauchi.
Doctors and nurses said DON'T wear masks early because doing so is stealing them from healthcare workers. They dug their own graves with this selfishness. Fauci was complicit in this by repeating the same nonsense as the WHO. It's not a Trump vs. Fauci issue, he was part of Trump's own pandemic response council and his ability to phrase the response in scientific terms was valuable to the administration. But they had to remove him because he was discredited not only because of the insanely stupid masks mantra but also because of Fauci's ties to the viral research programs that likely caused this outbreak to begin with. In other words, people who were suspicious about the apparently deliberate infection of the US population looked into Fauci's agency and found even more cause for suspicion. So there's no point in having him continue to give press conferences when they will only give more ammunition to those who see a conflict of interest and potentially crimes being committed.
Dr Fauci is invested in Moderna and is also involved with Gilead and he therefore isn't looking at prevention (vitamin D and C) nor simple treatments (HCQ, IV C, L-Lysine). It's criminal. Trump is on HCQ because he had exposure via his valet etc, as are many doctors.
The only reason #45 wore a mask ONCE, was he was visiting the Military Hospital! I doubt we'll see him in a mask the rest of this week, let alone throughout the pandemic. Pathetic leadership in my country!

Part of the problem, was that he was gagged by the administration at the beginning. And he has admitted that he did not recommend wearing masks at the beginning because of the lack of PPE. He has not briefed our president in two full months. So now we just watch him on the news and listen to him and not the advice of the actual task force.

Hell, but a big MAGA on masks and hand them out - just get them wearing them however you can.

I am an ER doc and the educational director of my group and have used your videos as a reference - thank you again. With regard to Dr. Fauci‘s initial comments requesting the community at large to not use face masks early on I can understand the confusion
Dr. Fauci was never espousing the notion in general that people should not wear a mask. His concern was that they were not sufficient masks in the country and that they were primarily and strategically needed for the first responders and people in the hospitals Because of the lack of facemasks he initially asked the general public to not go out and buy masks less there be an adequate supply for the healthcare workers. early on many in many of our hospitals we did not have adequate masks Hope this clarifies what appears to be an inconsistency on his part Phillip Silverstein M.D.

Finally as last resort called son. Did not want to worry him. His mother in law is in nursing home and she was positive once already with no symptoms and Sat 4 more staff sick. So very terrible. NH no longer even have time to do facetime anymore. They get update call about every 2 weeks. I think it scared him. I heard it in his voice. I cancelled other Dr appts, PT, and a cleaning service. I start over again. I want this to go away whatever. I am sick of this fever headache and now coughing hurts it more. My son said today has been 2 weeks, anything could have happened in 2 weeks during this huge surge. My dog had surgery Thurs for mass in mouth, I was out several places then. This situation more sureal daily.
Would you please do a video on the lingering after effects of the virus. Thanks. In the US we were initially told not to wear masks. All of the task force has been politically compromised. IT is political pressure from the administration. the media reinforces the celebrity culture in the US. Your comments on celebrity culture are correct.
Tara, the scientific data changed. I am a retired biologist and trust Dr. Fauci. I have known of him since the 80's, and HIV. Dr. Birx and the rest of them I do not trust. Fauci, most of all, is being thrown under the bus.
I was born n London (England) and emigrated to the USA (Texas) 20 years ago. The thing about America that has worked against an effective response to COVID-19 (to me anyway), is the devolved nature of power. Each state can go it's own way in so many aspects of all this. Without Federal leadership, so many of the states have indeed squandered the potential good situation that we found ourselves in after the last few months of sacrifice on the altar of 'personal freedom' and economics. As someone born and raised outside the USA, this is so sad and appears to be almost completely avoidable.
@@brianjrichman to include YOUR monarchy; this goes wayyyyy bigger than the story you are listening to. This is a war. All the information warfare you are being exposed to is part of that. Be happy no bullets are flying (near you). But the definition of warfare: is the continuity of political discourse via military means. Relax on the virus (not as bad as these knuckleheads are spreading; if so bad... Why all the merging of influenza and pneumonia to push covid numbers up?). Controlling a culture, and in this case globally, is a method. Top-down, bottom-up and inside-out. In a smaller example: Al Sharpton/George Soros are hand puppeting NYC mayor; also in league with MSM; and sponsor/guide BLM and ANTIFA. Police hands are tied, media is complicit, fake protestors cause riots. Excuse for changes made to limit peoples freedom, change culture, and seize monies/assets. A virus narrative IS BIOLOGICAL warfare (even if no bug ever existed); biological warfare is to curtail economic and political outcomes. What would happen to EU if Englands economy had started to look like how America was booming before Covid? Real stories being quited by fake MSM: Federal Reserve has been absorbed into the US treasury!! In effect; This is Huge. Jeffrey Epstein/Guislane Maxwell/Julian Assange/El Chapo/Bengazhi emails/Weiner' s insurance policy. We have evidence compiled to take down power and people who used to manipulate monarchs from the old world. Global dynasty empires will be falling when people see how and what they do. Global history is set to change.
Americans just want to have fun..... I remember when I tried to tell my friends that a virus was coming from China, everyone look at me like I was crazy. Most people I know haven’t stop eating food from restaurants.
As long as you do a pick-up and wear a mask to do so, eating food from restaurants is not spreading the virus. Especially if you dispose of the packaging and reheat the food. Many Americans are willing to support their local faves so they don’t end up losing them to bankruptcy.
2:10 "I don't fully understand.. or I don't pretend to understand at all.. the politics of the United States.." Sir, I was born here, raised here, earned a University Degree in International Relations here, and I can tell you that hardly ANYONE here understands it.
Well I'm from Canada and I think it is a total cop out to say this. It's painfully obvious: unbridled capitalism. The U.S. had a slave class that fueled its economy, as did Britain, whose empire was a global slave market. Much of Europe did. In the Belgian Congo, 60 million were killed. Yes, an untalked about holocaust. There are many. In time, it became less fashionable and more impossible to have an immigrant nation like the U.S. with actual slaves. But democracy was still a word for the whites. Not for the Aboriginal - the "Indians" long relegated to reserve lands. The almighty dollar takes over; the free market. The American Dream. The Americans worship their constitution, as long as it keeps guns in their hands and their right to take advantage of whomever they choose; it's just "business". Anything threatening the "free enterprise" ways of the top 1% of earners is panned as "socialism". And the cycle turned the millionaires of the 20th century into the billionaires of the 21st century at the expense of the majority. It's not so difficult to get the politics of the United States of America straight. You follow the money. You listen past the patriotic crap and watch what they do: take advantage, now of most of their own people. The middle classes are so screwed because their own lying politicians distract them with issues of race; divide and conquer - the siren song of the counterfeit, soulless Trump. The one they chose to lead. They are half morally bankrupt, and like an empire whose best days are past, they expire from within. Much is good in their culture and their diversity, but the Greed god has ripped them to the core.
Trumpism is quite simple. Trump is a megalomaniac who wants to be re-elected. Contrary to popular opinion, he was abysmal as a businessman and will be in a big financial mess if he loses his present job. No president has ever been re-elected on a failing economy and Covid-19 is destroying the economy. So close your eyes and pretend it doesn't exist. Push people back into their jobs and open schools to get things rolling again, no matter how crowded the mortuaries become. The man does not give a FIG about you or me. The really horribly pathetic thing about all this is not Trump himself, but his followers, his political base - how about 30-40% of American people can be so easily manipulated by their stereotypes, xenophobia, egos, and misdirected self-interest is incomprehensible to me.
I’m in south Louisiana & things seem to be spiraling out of control. Masks were just mandated in our state, starting today, but not enforceable. Demographics do show that 29 yo & under make up around 40% of current new cases
Oh the invisibility/stupidity of youth. Problem is most of these under 30's are related to older people who are more likely to become seriously ill if they were to become infected.
We Americans look at everything through lenses thick with confirmation bias. It's a hot mess. No clear direction from Federal levels, varying levels of directions form different states. Your state has closed establishments? Just drive across state lines to other states. Down the rabbit hole we go.
Your media doesn’t help, every time you see a politician on TV you see a D or an R next to their name. It’s so unnecessary unless it is about making sure that people are aware which team the person represents. The CNN promos for the upcoming election are like a Super Bowl promo. When your country starts to take journalism seriously again things might turn around.
Our stores refuse service unless got medical reason which obviously some will abuse but I’ve not seen any issues here yet. Sooner everyone gets on the band wagon the more they’ll open up and get going again. (Dumfries and Galloway)

Fauci: the guy works for Trump... who demands that his team harmonize with his positions. IMO Fauci was doing his best to harmonize and not blatantly contradict Trump. And part of this effort included trying to understand a valid reason why trump said xyz... and then re-interpreting trump’s pronouncements in the most favorable light. Over all, I think that he is trying to avoid getting fired because he understands that who ever replaces him will be a political appointment and less inclined to tell any truth that is inconsistent with Trump
@@LondonSteveLee Dr. Fauci has guided epidemic response since Reagan's adminstration. Is that what you mean by deep state? That prior to the current administration, both parties were able to trust expertise?
Yup indeed. However, I remember every state wanted to decide how to go about reopening. And they made their choice. So how is now Trump's fault? Sure he's taken some missteps but gotta look at everything in perspective. Why are we not talking about Sweeden? Their number of cases is not alarming despite the high mortality rate. Gotta put everything in perspective.
How comes that here in Germany EVERYBODY is wearing a mask in supermarkets and in public transportation? It is so easy, there just is no choice here, we HAVE TO, it is an order by the government. And look at our numbers. IT IS WORKING. And cultural we are not so different. There has never been a mask wearing culture in Germany (Well besides the Cologne Carnival and others :) ).
I think our Boris is 'concerned' that the public would refuse mask wearing. . Hah, I think the public will bend when asked/Ordered, it more like keeping someone else happy
The very adherence to quality that we've seen in German manufacturing versus American manufacturing shows a greater compliance to the group over individualism. I do not agree that the cultures are similar.
Ese Callum, yes we all, no matter our nationality, have that right. We do not however have the right to intentionally infect others by going maskless. So let's just wear our masks in public and protect our friends, family and others of the general public so they can have the right to live their lives and die the way they choose to.
It falls under the 2nd amendment right to bare arms, which means the right to not cover up in public. Actually, I would still like to see some solid evidence that a mask really prevents someone from spreading or contracting the virus. Those viral particles are so tiny that they will go right through the mesh of a mask.
Sadly I live in Florida. My dh and I have been self isolating since February, and will continue to do so until we are able to get a decent vaccine and antibody testing. Started watching your videos in January I think. It's very hard to stay in, so I understand where folks just have to get out. Sometime maybe you could touch on the emotional issues that people like us are experiencing, and will be experiencing for some time. It's even harder knowing that it didn't have to be this way at all. Anger has faded out after 5 months and just become some sort of dismal misery that so many people are so selfish and ignorant.
Your self-imposed isolation is destroying your immune system and your sanity - Bill Gates and George Soros will be proud and your unstable mental state is exactly what the globalists want. Megadose on VitD+K2 then take VitD(at least 4,000IUs)+K2 and Vitc+Zinc daily - then face the world - it's the only way of fighting this globalist tyranny. Trump may be a bit of an idiot sometimes but he's the only world leader trying to save us from the Globalist/Marxist revolution.

As to your thinking on the heat in the south (should also include the SW U.S.). I live in SW and many people use swampcoolers much more than AC. I'm retired VP of R&D for a molecular filtration, both gases and liquids. The swampcoole in my home brings in outside very dry air (often single digit humidity) at the rate of 5900 cfm. It adds moisture bring the humidity to 40-50%, and replaces the air in my home approximately every 15 to 20 minutes with air from the desert that is already much cleaner.

Hi Dr. I am very concerned about everyone in the world but especially in the US. How can people open the country and I plead with them to do the human thing, everyone do our part.
Dr. John, thank you for the voice of reason in describing what is occurring throughout the world. This comment is from California, the Bay Area, where the more educated are wearing masks--for the most part. What I wish could happen is for residents of the U.S. take to heart a phrase we seldom hear anymore "for the greater good." Sheltering, distancing, mask wearing can be uncomfortable, but are necessary for the greater good. We owe it to others to stand tall and DO IT!
I had to chuckle when the last picture came up. My Brit friends would point out that those girls were not flashing the Peace Sign. Dr. Campbell - Keep up the good work.
Dear Dr John, I am writing from Denver, Colorado, USA. In Colorado we got very lucky with covid. Early closing. Unfortunately our federal government has failed us from the top down. State wide it has been every dog for themselves. Mayors of cities do what political parties mandate. Ignorance can be fixed by education, stupid cannot be fixed. (Bell Curve). We as a country are in a train wreck. I don't have to crunch the numbers for you, it's simple math. I'm sorry my generation let this happen. I will do everything I possibly can to change our current trend. The economic prospect is equally dim. All is not lost, still blood and toil. Thanks for all you do! Gary Cupp
Gary: Your generation did NOT let this happen. 72,000,000 were born in USA 1946-1970. They integrated the working class men and women into higher education and make K-12 nearly universal. They got rid of outhouses, ice boxes, and having to walk or hitchhike everywhere. They got electricity into nearly every home. They built the national highway system. They almost completely stopped child labor. From 1971 to 199, USA had 33,000,000+ births, not even 34,000,000. 33,000,000+ cannot replace 72,000,000 in the economy. Can't be done. But that is why we had near full employment prior to SARS2. Because if the drop in population, there will be an upcoming shortage in most professions. Brace for that! From 1996 to 2020, USA had had 100,000,000 born--more than in the previous 50 years! There will be a crushing glut in unskilled entry level job seekers. That is easy to use to break Social Security through crusibg minimum wages producing underfunding. The BEST you can do is advocate for the $15/hr living wage minimum wage. That is enough to find Social Security ongoing. If you have energy left over, encourage everyone whobexoects to earn wages to take anyv25 credits at the local college or community college, do they can qualify for lifetime access to the job list at the Student Placement Office. Increasing numbers of employers list nowhere else. If you could do those 2 things, you would transform the nation. Unskilled entry level job competition is going to become crushingly competitive. Combine that with robotics/AI and you will have a whole different econony. Global warming has been solved. Implementation is lagging. Co2 can be reversed through addibg rock dust to agricultural land and reintroducing cows, sheep, it hosts, to semi-arid land globally. There is important stuff for you to do everyday for the rest of your life. Carrying around guilt is not one of those. Denver is an excellent place to start.
Who should we trust? Trump with a history of none stop lies, or Fauci, with a history of medical expertise, and a desire to give factual scientiific stats.?
@@Dragosflash omg he lies about everything Now he hasn't had a briefing with Fauci in 2 months, now ur prez has turned on him in twitter rants for the fact that Fauci disagrees and corrects the prez for giving false information
Good news about masks ! Same in France, our prime minister said yesteday that the question about mask wearing indoor was under discussion. That's really good news.
The practice of putting 'personalities' into positions of power to win the populist vote has been disastrous. Give me real people with expertise who just get on with it and earn the respect of their nation. Let's choose our leaders as if our lives depended on it.
Welcome to America. From elementary school we learn how to worship popular people and take their word as infallible. If you're not a "personality" you're not only rejected you're despised regardless of your competence
Elected leaders make up a tiny, tiny portion of the government of the US. You get to elect one person to the federal executive branch, the rest are appointed from a pre-picked list, career employees, and usually chosen by industry lobbyists. I don't believe any president would have greatly changed the US pandemic response; the FDA and CDC allow carcinogenic chemicals to be sprayed on the vast majority of our food supply. They spray Roundup on our beans and grains as a pre-harvest desiccant, plus other chemicals that are banned in Europe, contaminating the majority of what Americans eat just before harvest. The CDC pushes annual flu vaccines that used to cause thrombocytopenia among other issues, probably still do. The FDA routinely approves drugs that turn out to have only placebo benefit with extremely harmful side effects, they outsource the testing and regulatory compliance to the drug companies who police themselves, bringing prescription drug injuries and deaths in the US to among the highest on earth. These organizations aren't going to suddenly become effective advocates for health when a new president is elected, they advise the president not the other way around.
In the U.S. everything is politicized and because Dr. Fauci has been directly contradicting Trump, there is a campaign now to discredit him. Don't fall for the misinformation, Trump is the "celebrity" here and Fauci is the expert. This is all purely political.
@@rickhernandez2114 Whether Fauci is an expert is unimportant. He is a Trump advisor, they were saying the same things in different words. Trump says HCQ is promising but needs more study, Fauci says HCQ needs more study but may be beneficial, media says Fauci disagrees with Trump. Fact remains neither the right wing nor the left wing would trust what he says anymore unless it agreed with what they've already heard. This exemplifies the US federal response as a whole, that's why it has shifted to state-level responses.
@@gorkyd7912 Fauci and Trump are no longer saying the same things if they ever were. Please see what has been happening lately. Also, the federal response has been abysmal, not by accident but very purposefully. Trump left the states to bid against each other for PPE and ventilators. That is not a "federal response". I'm not sure that right or left wing agrees or disagrees with Fauci and won't listen to him now. He isn't saying anything that is radical. He certainly didn't recommend injecting disinfectant like Trump did.

Seriously tho I feel the same way cause how hard would it have been to be prepared with enough N95 masks FOR EVERYBODY stockpiled in case of a fooking respiratory virus pandemic?! CAN'T HAVE BEEN VERY FOOKING HARD!!
I have formed an independent nation on a mountaintop in Colorado. I no longer feel compelled to defend the United States in these discussions. In my new nation of Frogica we wear masks wash our hands practice social distancing and so far have not had a single case of covid-19. Our national bird is a chipmunk.
Great idea. I've been thinking about emigrating to another country but your idea is much simpler - just create your OWN country. I live in the West and we have lots of mountains. So, just like you, I'll create a new nation on a mountain top. When I do, perhaps we can stay in contact (while observing social distancing) and have 'international relations' and maybe occasionally a small war just to prove that we are real nations and, of course, to stimulate our economy. My national bird will be the Raven - they live about 80 years and are much smarter than virtually any politician.
What about fans that move air around? Are they recommended? Should the be used to expell air from a room? Should they be used to bring fresh air into a room? That still moves air around. Please advise
Joseph Torre logically, fans will move the virus around..when you take off masks and aprons they say fold them off slowly and carefully so as not to shake the virus into the air. The fan will be ok in your own home, but I’d be concerned in a public place though . Best thing is to keep windows and doors open
I'm really of a mind that, if possible for this pandemic and the next one, if additional fresh air heat pumps with additional air changes/time shouldn't be installed. Imagine!
Its hard to get a handle on it when the Testing takes almost a week to complete.... France it takes 15 minutes. Nuts, and what would be the cause for this???? I remember hearing that stores in Europe were handing out masks to people who did not have them, here in the USA, we have seen masks for sale in only one grocery store one time...
Two ways, on purpose or due to severely bad preparation and execution. Apparently labs weren’t ready for large testing, and everything is taking super long because they tell us it is, not really a reason it just “takes awhile”
The tests they give the common people are useless because they take a week for results....rich, government etc people have the better tests which are very quick
The issue is 2 fold. 1. We routinely run out of reagents and have to ship in more to the labs. 2. The number of machines to run the tests and the trained staff to use the machines are a bottleneck. Keep in mind demand for these machines were much lower prior to the pandemic. I would guess the manufacturers are making more of these machines. I know at the hospital I work at we have had the reagents run out for the faster tests multiple times. We are rationed out supplies supposed to last a week. They typically last for 2-3 days.
I’m in New England. Maine, where my parents reside have rapid testing for $25. No appt needed, lines are not long. Of course Maine has a small population, but with tourists many more people are there. I’m not sure about the other states as far as testing goes but so far, fortunately, New England is doing fairly well. Massachusetts was quite bad for a time, but has managed to get the virus under control and is reopening very carefully. Overall New England closed early and has reopened quite slowly. It’s paid off. I just hope it remains under control as we continue opening. Everyone here wears masks and social distances.
Mary, are you able to buy masks online ,or from local maskmakers? Do you have enough masks? Do the essential workers and hospital workers have enough masks for now? I know there is a continual shortage of suitable masks for hospitals and dentists.
Closed the border after 16 cases, tracked and traced very fast, and put anyone commit into the country, and continue to put their repatriates into mandatory qurantine.
John Campbell, I have criticized you sharply for not focusing (until recently) on inflammation of the body, but your point at the 9-minute mark is one thousand percent spot on. What have these epidemiologists been doing all these years?? Why is our understanding of how the immune system deals with viruses like corona seemingly at zero, or, maximum, one? Why are electronic engineers (?!) leading the discussion on immunity?

Their are other concerns, a study by kings colledge london states immunity to coronavirus only lasts months and not years, this meens the virus will never be wiped out and any vaccine will be short lived.
T S Korea government recently announced that herd immunity is NOT attainable, because antibodies of infected people lasted only for two months on average; a significant percent of infected people had low levels of antibodies not enough to immunity.

Here in Portugal we all use masks since beggining of May in public closed places. No one is refusing to wear then, we all understand why we should do it...
Bloody sheep.
LOL!
😂 yep, that’s how it going here.
I agree with you -- except no "h" in fauci.
Well said. 👍

Dr. Fauci is just being blamed because Cheeto-head is jealous of his reputation (rightly so) and that Americans trust Fauci more than him. No one with an ounce of brain cells would trust what Cheeto-head says. So he's just being a childish bully.

@shemp. When Dr C covers how US doing with virus it’s impossible to keep politics out of it. The US has become the United States of Plague primarily due to our Pres’ hateful lack of leadership and discounting the virus.

Snorty McGout Thank you!

In the U.S. the primary strategy was never _minimum number of infections_ . The primary strategy was to control the infection rate so as to not overwhelm the hospitals. Secondary strategies, adopted when the virus was better understood, were to offer protect to those most vulnerable.
@A J Very TRUE!
The US never had a strategy.
Houston is at 105% hospital capacity.... so yeah the "do-not-overwhelm-hospitals" is working just fine.
Our forefathers (and mothers) wore masks to prevent the spread of Spanish Flu. We've just forgotten our own history.

Trump is flat out evil and does not care how many Americans he kills

Part of the problem, was that he was gagged by the administration at the beginning. And he has admitted that he did not recommend wearing masks at the beginning because of the lack of PPE. He has not briefed our president in two full months. So now we just watch him on the news and listen to him and not the advice of the actual task force.
No he said that later at the time he admits he lied and said it didn't work and actually gave you a better chance to get a spread virus with a mask.
Don't trust him
DramaMustRemainOnTheStage yes go ahead and listen to Trump and take the disinfectant and other things he has said. Since February “it going away 134k deaths later!!!
I trust Faucci. I've never trusted trump. I'd adopt Faucci as my grandpa. 😁
I don't know much about Fauchi, but he was giving some decent advice throughout.. not the best advice at all times, but that president down there did way more harm than good for their epidemic. Masks had become an insane culture war there due to ignorance and intolerence. Its good trump was seen finally wearing a mask - maybe he will get his crazed followers to wear them. Hell, but a big MAGA on masks and hand them out - just get them wearing them however you can.
It was fun when conspiracy theories were aliens, right?
As an X Files fan I can confirm this.
Yeah I really miss those days, when it was limited to Alien abductions 👽, bigfoot, and loch ness
Lol. Thanks. I needed that. I miss those days too.
It's not really conspiracy when the WHO is blatantly ignoring drugs that work, to the extent it's using fraudulent papers from the lancet (Hydroxychloroquine) to fast-forward literally the most unsafe vaccine that could possibly be imaginable
Let me see how much I appreciate your hard work and consistency during this pandemic - you are a treasure.
I am an ER doc and the educational director of my group and have used your videos as a reference - thank you again. With regard to Dr. Fauci‘s initial comments requesting the community at large to not use face masks early on
I can understand the confusion
Dr. Fauci was never espousing the notion in general that people should not wear a mask. His concern was that they were not sufficient masks in the country and that they were primarily and strategically needed for the first responders and people in the hospitals
Because of the lack of facemasks he initially asked the general public to not go out and buy masks less there be an adequate supply for the healthcare workers.
early on many in many of our hospitals we did not have adequate masks
Hope this clarifies what appears to be an inconsistency on his part
Phillip Silverstein M.D.
That's a wonderful review recommendation for Dr Campbell.
Dr Tam and Dr Henry (who Campbell was eagerly praising without knowing much about her, yesterday, just because he was listening to a nice Canadian pharmacist), both denied masks were needed, and Dr Henry still does! She denies the virus is airborne and denies it is spread by asymptomatics. She encourages people to travel, and frowns on enforcement. But she gets a pass. DOCTOR HENRY IS THE FAKE CANADIAN CELEBRITY USING HER STATUS TO WIN POINTS. But she's an attractive woman. Is it really so simple to fool a man who doesn't do his homework??
As an American living in Germany I was speculating the exact same thing about air conditioning...In Germany it is almost non existent and this could be a reason why there is less COrona virus than n the USA south where literally every building has it..But I just can't understand why even in Germany there is alot of resistance to wearing masks
All AC's are off here in Turkey. Natural ventilation only.
Germany people agrees and follow order strictly than americans as i can see.
I would gladly live without AC if I could. It’s 110 degrees Fahrenheit today in Texas. Hard to function without AC.

Hi Dr John, it is scary here in FL. 2 weeks ago I was tested with headache, running nose and daily fever up tp 100. I got a neg result Wed but still fever and headache most days. I am 70 have copd, 60 % lung cap and htn. Last night fever spiked 100.7 and chest pain with cough. Pulse ox 90. Usually 95 or above. I found a place to test that just opened last week in parking lot of my supermarket. I was only person there at first. I think nobody knows it is there. No cost, no appointment and no symptoms needed. Tested again with a different test, the long tip high in nose. Glad it was different. Other was new one with short tips made for self test. It was at a private urgent care. This AM I called my GP as the online info said , interruped in midlle of sentence to call covid number which I called for 3 days last time without an answer. Now it doesnt even ring just a wierd busy signal. I called the urgent care I had gon to back and she was very kind saying she thought I might need ER. Tried to call ER they have same busy signal.
Yea, I'm concerned

Real stories being quited by fake MSM:

As long as you do a pick-up and wear a mask to do so, eating food from restaurants is not spreading the virus. Especially if you dispose of the packaging and reheat the food. Many Americans are willing to support their local faves so they don’t end up losing them to bankruptcy.

@@caroltopalian593 Well said.

Great let's throw everyone indoors in prison for not wearing masks! Brilliant
We Americans look at everything through lenses thick with confirmation bias. It's a hot mess. No clear direction from Federal levels, varying levels of directions form different states. Your state has closed establishments? Just drive across state lines to other states. Down the rabbit hole we go.

Fauci: the guy works for Trump... who demands that his team harmonize with his positions. IMO Fauci was doing his best to harmonize and not blatantly contradict Trump. Yup indeed. However, I remember every state wanted to decide how to go about reopening. And they made their choice. So how is now Trump's fault? Sure he's taken some missteps but gotta look at everything in perspective. Why are we not talking about Sweeden? Their number of cases is not alarming despite the high mortality rate. How comes that here in Germany EVERYBODY is wearing a mask in supermarkets and in public transportation? It is so easy, there just is no choice here, we HAVE TO, it is an order by the government. Unfortunately, many Americans are more worried about their rights than their lives (or ours. )
We Americans have the right to die as we please.

Thanks John u r great bless u, u r getting me through this sad time🙏🏾🙋🏽♀️😘🇬🇧
Vietnam
Cases 372
Deaths 0
and population 95 million
UK
Cases 288,957
Deaths 44,798
Population 66 million
J G I wouldn’t say it was a factor in Vietnam’s success but yes masks do help
Vietnam and yet it was, and you were wrong
Closed the border after 16 cases, tracked and traced very fast, and put anyone commit into the country, and continue to put their repatriates into mandatory qurantine.
*Coming" not commit
John Campbell, I have criticized you sharply for not focusing (until recently) on inflammation of the body, but your point at the 9-minute mark is one thousand percent spot on. What have these epidemiologists been doing all these years?? Why is our understanding of how the immune system deals with viruses like corona seemingly at zero, or, maximum, one? Why are electronic engineers (?!) leading the discussion on immunity?
I'm curious about your comment that electronics engineers are leading the discussion on immunity. Do you have a reference or link for that?
@@Graham_Wideman Here are links to two scientists (at least one of whom is an EE) who go into great detail about immunity.

I was in the DLR in London today and although in the tannoy there were announcements about face coverings on 2 people out of the 2
In my carriage had masks on. Sadly, people are not taking this seriously.
Their are other concerns, a study by kings colledge london states immunity to coronavirus only lasts months and not years, this meens the virus will never be wiped out and any vaccine will be short lived.
That doesn't necessarily mean that. Apparently there is a T-cell response that plays a large role in fending off the virus. We don't know enough yet.
citation?
T S Korea government recently announced that herd immunity is NOT attainable, because antibodies of infected people lasted only for two months on average; a significant percent of infected people had low levels of antibodies not enough to immunity.
