The event is 48 hours long, so multiplying that by 60 gets us the minutes, and then 60 again for the seconds, which comes out to 172,800 seconds.
Taking 999,999,999 and dividing it by our seconds (172,800) we get ~5787 Eggs/per second.
(Sorry for the long explanation 😅)
And we thought the big run was AFTER the grand festival. Also, remember this goal may be hard, but remember, the overfishers exist, and they probably have our back.

This is just like the 1 one year anniversary Splatfest for Splatoon 3 and there was a Big Run happening during the Splatfest Sneak Peak before the main event began.

My thinking is that the “unknown egg quota” for the community as a whole will be 333,333,333 eggs, and I’m betting that the final egg total will surpass that, but not by much. Maybe a total of just over 400,000,000 eggs.

The quota is 700.000.000 but it’s at 999.999.999 right now but eggs after that still count they just don’t show

As of March of this year, Splatoon 3 has sold just under 12 million copies. If 1% of those players actively participate in this event, that is 120,000 people. If we want to reach 1 billion golden eggs (999,999,999) to break the counter, each person would need to collect ~8,334 eggs. If they average 80 eggs per run, that would be 105 games per person. If each game takes 10 minutes on average (300 seconds in-game + queue time + King Salmonid wave), each player would need to play for a little under 17. 5 hours.
Conclusion: Breaking the counter is doable, but still a pretty big challenge.
Now if we could just get 12 million players to all participate, every player would only need over 333 eggs each to blast that counter. Sounds so easy that way.
See, but the third Big Run apparently had 1.85 million registered players. I get the feeling, that, since there was a ~1 mil drop from the first Big Run, a very large chunk of who was left played it actively.
It should at least be *more* doable than that, thank god.
Edit: Using the same math, but assuming it's the funny number of 333,333,333, that would mean ~5.8 hours per player, which I'm more willing to assume is right

I think its definitely possible to break the counter just like barely within the time limit of the evens
I always wondered what would happen if no one participated, and there were zero eggs collected. The game would obviously let us have the Grand Fest plaza back, but an interesting thought
the egg counter will be able to show the devs how much we all love salmonrun and it could possibly change the future of salmonrun. i will actually cry if they ever make a full salmonrun game instead of it staying a sidemode

I think it would be so cool if the Big Run kept going until we meet a certain egg count, and the Grand Festival would only happen if we met that egg count. The egg count in question would be like impossible to *not* meet, so there's no chance we don't get the Splatfest. They would also have higher goals with special rewards, so there would still be an incentive to keep playing after the initial egg count is met. I really hope there's like a massive reward if we get to 1 billion eggs (breaking the egg counter), like special gear that looks like Boss Salmonids or Grizzco. weapons to put in your locker, or even a physical reward available to anyone who contributed more than 1,000 eggs to the counter.

Predicting how many Golden Eggs we're gonna get using MATH:
Using old Big Run data, I'm assuming the average high score to be around 90 eggs. Since that is a high score, I'll approximate that an average game is about 70% of that, or around 63 eggs.
Not every player will be able to play constantly for the entire two day event. However, this is also the final Big Run and at an exclusive location. I'm going to approximate that around 20% of the player base will be participating at any given time, although, that could be far too high. Splatoon 3 has sold approximately 12 million copies so 2,400,000 players at any given time.
I'll approximate that a single shift, from the "It's time to go to work" screen through to closing the results screen is 7 minutes. However, players will lose games, a lot. Let's say players lose 50% of their games at an average of halfway through. That's an average of 5.25 minutes per game. I'll extend that to 6.5 minutes for matchmaking and the potential of an Xtra Wave.
Here is the formula I developed that could be used to approximate how many golden eggs will be earned:
(Average Number of Eggs)x((Total Length of the Big Run)/(Average Length of a Single Shift))x((Total Number of Active Players)/4)=(Total Egg Count)
Thus:
63Eggsx(2Days/6.5Minutes)x(2,400,000/4)
63x(2880/6.5)x(2,400,000/4)
63x233.08x600000
8,810,424,000
So ~9 Billion Eggs...
That... Doesn't feel quite right... I doubt we'd be able to break the Egg Counter 9 times over.
But even if we were to assume an average game was 40 Eggs, an average game lasted 8 Minutes and only 5% of the playerbase is active at any given time, that's approximately 2 Billion Eggs.
A more reasonable Egg Total is found at around 1% of the player base contributing which, at 40 Eggs per game and an average length of 8 minutes, give ~432 Million Eggs.
Essentially, we'll have to see how many players participate, because it could dramatically change how many Eggs we get.
Realistically speaking, I think we’re probably just going to get a challenge that will allow us to use the Grizzco weapons in turf
This is an amazing way of preparing for grand fest truly feels like the grand finale for the first splatoon trilogy and characters. This also confirms grand fest is the final fest and probably the biggest final fest for the first 3 splatoon games and future splatoon games.
Am i the only one that wants to get the grizzco radio award in bronze so it looks like the real thing lol.
Update: bronze looks completely different than normal and looks terrible. I'll just save up for the replica of it in the shop.

Splatoon 3 sold at least 11.96 copies if everyone played 4 times (‘cos 4 players per crew) getting about 100 we would pass a billion so it’s very possible.

(You technically shouldn't be collecting the eggs anyways. Remember how we contributed to Mr. Grizz's evil plan in Splatoon 2 without knowing about it? I know Grizz is in space, yes, but we know those Golden Eggs are powerful.)

This kinda reminds me of New Super Mario Bros. 2. We have a counter and it goes up when we essentially collect something golden the meter goes up, when we max out the meter in this game we get a golden statue of Tannooki Mario. Maybe there’s going to be a reward for maxing out the meter for the final big run.

It impossible to datamine values like collected eggs per big run, or any multiplayer statistic really because all of them are stored on nintendo master servers, and to datamine them you would have to hack a nintendo network server so good luck with that, lol
