The mauga ultimate is like the phrase "I'm not trapped in here with you, you're trapped in here with me" and then you die instantly because you're trapped in an unescapable room surrounded by 5 enemy players

As cheese trap bcs how thick his shield/barrier or rollout, but mauga should NEVER be trapped
you can kinda say that with every ult if you're vague enough. Like I know that this is a joke but Death Cage is such a fucking banger of an ult, it's gonna work wonders as a "death sentence" sort of thing, you just need to do the same as with every other ult in the game and use it when your enemy's balance is off

Once people realize you can't run, they start wailing on you and if you trap multiple people who can gang up on you, good luck man. You got 2+ angry people and no one is gonna save you (unless you have a bap with lamp as Lamp has a funny interaction where the aura reaches into cage and no one can destroy it from the inside)
@@P.H691i think lifeweaver can also pull you out of it but I saw some pretty good plays already with his uglt and then bastions mind you I was playing hog and absolutely shredded him with the ult I was saving but still pretty cool combo
And if you were mid reload animation when you activate the ult he still reloads even though he now has infinite ammo

Mauga is such an easy target to hit. He's a free ult farm like Hog. The only diff is he can run a bit and he sometimes turns pretty colors before he dies.
And dies a lot quicker

I've always enjoyed how a tranquilizer dart manages to put even robots and Dva's mech to sleep, personally. Dva's awake. She's wiggling the sticks like crazy. It's Toki that needs to take five though apparently.

My first thought when I saw that ult was "cant wait to see all the clips of him just getting slept then probably charged off a ledge"
The ult disables movement abilities inside it, so you can't charge.
Just today I have a Ram trapped in the ult, he just activated his own ult and I nano him, it was the OW2 version of "I'm not trap here with you, you are trap with me", and proceed to fist the Mauga to pieces.
I love how they keep shooting him even when he's dead
It's the equivalent of spraying a cat with the water bottle when it misbehaves "No, bad tank player, back to spawn and either swap to a shield tank or beg for a support to swap to Kiriko so you can play the game."
I mean, his hit box is as big as the whole screen. How could they miss him even if he is dead?

Feel that about a lot of trailers all the way since Team Fortress 2. Big, manly guy charging into multiple enemies, explosions, bullets, magic everywhere, in a game where getting shot in the open or flanked is instant death.
All of the character trailers are like that. The new character is shooting at 10HP bots that are shooting at the skybox trying to add visual noise.
Honestly Mauga has been great for experiencing the most frustrating parts of the game

I never thought a paladins character would actually be better designed than an overwatch one
@@Notllamalord Right? I actually went to go play Raum after and i was noticing all the flaws in Mauga's kit from that.
Raum doesn't do much damage, but it's consistent and more accurate at a range, and he directly sustains from it. On top of having an ability that gives him a bonus when he needs it.
Mauga's other ability... Only benefits everyone else around him, despite it being an ability that should thematically benefit him. On top of that, Mauga's main sustain requires you to FIRST hit someone enough for them to be on fire. That's the only time you have any sustain at all. But the best way to hit that is when you're up close... When you're.. already taking a lot more damage. You have no way to get out of there either, because unlike Raum, he doesn't have a talent where he can resist damage while running.
It genuinely feels like people from the Overwatch team noticed Raum, but were trying to heavily avoid being too close to that design. In doing so, the design doesn't work with itself.
Honestly, give Mauga 30% damage resistance on his charge, double the distance, have Cardiac Overdrive ignite enemies around him and heal for 75 for each enemy hit.. and he works. He feels surprisingly flimsy right now.

@@StormierNik it also helps that while raum is big Mauga is just fucking enormous it’s impossible to miss him with anything
I think he is pretty strong when he uses the cardiac overdirve and faces another Mauga. He will be immortal. But if no one with that fat of a hitbox is on the enemy side, he dies instantly. That's not even mentioning how Ana just obliterates him. And even with a Kiriko it is hard, because if she Kiriko uses suzu for anything else than the nade, Mauga dies instantly.
His ult is also good in theory but if he is hit with any stuns during his ult, he dies instantly. Anything that blocks the cardiac overdirve basically.
Also the fact that other people can come into the ult and just heal their teammates and completely invalidate him plus he isn't CC immune inside it. I'm glad they put him out in this early state cause it's proven he needs tweaks.
@@windego999supports need more tweaks. Tank is unplayable with supports like Ana and every immortal ability completely invalidating the tank. The best tank is Orisa and all she does is sit there and not die

@@ZhGmallathe entire tank role is unplayable as is. Itd be fine to have ana and suzu etc. In 6v6 bc the odds of getting both tanks with a nade AND killing them is low.
The other option is to rework ana so that she isnt ana, or other characters too, which isn't great. Either way, both classes need to be mindlessly tuned. It ruins overall game balance to rework the tank role to be an UBER boss role to combat this, so I dont want that either.
6v6, open, we need to go back, and mauga just needs buffs
I love how after hearing the issues people had with Tanks, they add a tank that is the most susceptible to these issues since Roadhog.
They really need to look into CC mitigation/resistance on tanks like Mauga and Roadhog. Meat shields are cool, but having tons of health doesn’t keep you from sleeping for less time or being stunned shorter.
possibly perhabs because they plan to nerf all these things and then mauga will be the ultra meta pick?
The biggest problem is chain CC. Sleep into doom punch or Orisa javelin, etc. There should be immunity for 1 sec after each CC

Mauga definitely needs some tuning. I know it doesn’t really make sense with his character design but lowering his health and replacing some of it with armor would probably make him feel a lot better to heal

Mauga is the most support reliant tank to be in Overwatch possibly ever.
Just from my experience ana is a must to play especially in a mauga mirror match. Kiriko helps a lot with Ana nade and such.
Dva is his hardest counter on tank from what I’ve seen she can d matrix you for the entire duration and you will die.
Also corners are mangas best friend they really help against most of his counters mainly bastion and Ana.
His ultimate in my opinion is really underrated it combos well with most dps ults and nano it’s also really useful to trap in a team from touching in ot.
His ult combos too well with most ults. I say this knowing it's the best thing he's got but it's like being fish in a barrel. I'd feel better about it if it ended when he died because not every character who might be left after he's dead might have the ability to break themselves out. Like if you're Kiriko or Moira, have fun getting shot at for 10 seconds.
For real, it's crazy attack tanks are the vast majority now and there are so few actually defensively tanks

As a Mauga main, I confirm that I sing "You're welcome" from "Moana" while play the game
You missed the part where it’s easy to avoid his cage attack.
And the cage is super tiny as well, like VERY tiny. You could easily miss 2 or 3 heroes that is near but not close enough. Try it in firing range it can barely lock the 2 bots that walking around
