      Jessie Aapd She's a coward. She doesn't have any guts. Do you not remember what happened during the last Winter Olympics? She won 4th place, and she still was given the spot at the 2014 Winter Olympics! Even though, they can only send the top 3 skaters! Since when is 4th place the new 3rd place? On top of that, she was absolutely fine that they robbed the real third place winner of her dream of going to the 2014 Winter Olympics. Wagner didn't complain when she stoled the 3rd place winner's spot, but now she is complaining about not being picked? She literary thinks she's entitled over skaters that are better then her. She thinks money can buy her a spot to the 2018 Winter Olympics like she did in 2014, and that is wrong. Wagner has no class whatsoever. Imagine yourself winning 1st place, but the Olympic committee takes your gold medal and giving it to the 2nd place winner. If she had some class and courage, she would have spoken out and say it's not right and rejected being picked to go to the 2014 Winter Olympics. She should have rejected being picked and return the spot to the real 3rd place winner! That's courage and true class. Wagner didn't have courage and class then, and she still doesn't have any class and courage now!

    That was kind of a weird question asking Ashley if she hoped to be called up as an alternate. The only way that typically happens is if someone has an injury, so essentially they were asking her if she hoped someone got injured. How do you respond to that? Of course, she would be happy to go to the Olympics, but you don't want to appear to be wishing for something terrible to happen to someone else. Bad question.

    I am a figure skating coach and all girls at my rink look up to Ashley and want to be like her. Also my brother use to trained with Ashley and said she was always supper nice to everyone at the rink I have also meet her and the sass is real Ashley is not going to change and I don't think she should she is a great skater and performer.

    No wonder this country is so screwed up on political correctness. If Ashley cannot stand by how she felt and hold her opinion on what's fair or unfair then how can we begin to report actual news on our politicians and affairs of greater importance? Dear newspeople, stop skewing and guiding news for DRAMA. Good for Ms. Wagner in saying EXACTLY how she saw it, whether it was right or not.

    • @pam0626

      Your blame is misplaced. Ashley created this drama all on her own; the media did its job by reporting her comments. • @jjkaykay8552
      @jjkaykay8552 6 лет назад +4

      SHE DIDN'T TAKE IT. If you followed skating through the years you would know that she earned her spot on the team by her placement at multiple international events in the 2012-2013 season and the 2013-2014 season. She didn't have that this time because Karen out placed her at last seasons worlds.
      She wasn't complaining because she didn't get "picked," she was pointing out how the scores deviated when they had never deviated like that before between international and national competition but you ever four years skating fans have no idea how this stuff works so you need to stop.
      Gabby Douglas was good in the 2015 season but after success then she didn't upgrade when many other girls did so by 2016 she was placed on the team after a lackluster overall season where her successes were relative due to the lack of international competition the US faces. She did well on the team so people really over reacted then. That was a different situation entirely and a different sport. Figure skating selection is determined by different measures.

      Sometimes you have greater feelings with your skating than how you did, sometimes its otherweise... Like, you sometimes feel like a good jump had some tecnique problems that were not really that big, while sometimes you focus on landing the jumps and dont notice small/big tecnique problems, that end up taking points...

      Porkchop 132 she skated well enough to be on the podium. Many years she would have won handily. It was a tough field and the judges (unfairly, IMO) judged her on the season not on the night. That’s a huge problem that skaters get bonus PCS for doing programs multiple Times a season. Skaters who are injured or don’t make the GPF are immediately at a disadvantage

  • @atooshka

    In 2014 she was unfairly shoved in the Olympic team with the best skaters and her terrible skating in the team event dragged everyone else down from silver to bronze. She thinks she can trick the judges by acting happy at the end of her performances.

      @jjkaykay8552 6 лет назад +42

      They were lower even than she had been all season internationally, that's why she was confused. She absolutely didn't deserve marks like 2015-2016 but having PCS scores drop from what the international judges score someone, while that skater is at a national event is super rare and she definitely isn't wrong about the judges turning on her.

    I understand where she's coming from. She said she agrees with the technical score, but not the components, and I would have to agree. I thought her presentation was really good here..she skated with a lot of joy. And I don't think she was rewarded for it. That being said, that 3rd spot was a toss-up between Karen and Ashley. And I don't blame them for choosing Karen, but I could also see why Ashley would be a little upset. Karen definitely earned that 3rd spot though, fair and square. The past couple of years, she proved herself, and she did the best out of all US ladies at last year's worlds. Not only that, but it wouldn't be fair to send Ashley to the Olympics a 2nd time, when she finished 4th AGAIN. She already had that gift when Mirai got screwed in 2014.

    She talks about working her whole life to go to the Olympics. Well she got a chance last time over a qualifying skater. So I am not sympathetic to her. Her reaction was as last time. Me. Me. Me. Brandi needs to work on her artistry and these ladies will come home with medals.

    • @XimenaSu1609
      @XimenaSu1609 6 лет назад

      There is a small chance of the ladies getting medals. Medvedeva and Zagitova's scores are unreachable to any other lady and they are very consistent so they will most likely fight for gold and silver. The bronze might be a possibility, but before thinking of reaching these two girls they have to overcome Osmond, Daleman, Miyahara, Sotskova and Kostner. Most, if not all of them have been very consistent this season and their reputation helps them. And I'm not saying this probability would change much with Wagner. The US best hopes for Olympic Medals in Figure Skating are the Team Event (most likely bronze if the Russian skaters can compete as a team and Canada being solid throughout the 4 disciplines), whoever performs best of their 3 ice dance teams (also very hard to expect anything but bronze with Papadakis/Cizeron and Virtue/Moir there), and Nathan Chen (definitely the best hope for an Olympic Champion, remaining undefeated this season and with his main rivals struggling with injuries and consistency).

    • @MsJubjubbird
      @MsJubjubbird 6 лет назад +1

      THey won't come home with medals Zagitova and Medvedeva could do the hokey pokey and the judges would give them the win. And the bronze will either go to Carolina, Miyahara or Osmond who are better than all of the American girls combined.

    The glaring problem Ashley and other female skaters have had over the years is under rotation, thus they lose points because the jump is downgraded to the next level. Ashley also has had the problem of two footing some of her jumps. BTW, the reason why it's a 'sport' is because of the athleticism needed for the jumps. Take the jumps out and you have....wait for it....ice dancing.

    She is so talented! And a great entertainer. There is a difference between being whiny and getting upset you did not make the team. She isn't whiny. And honestly judges sometimes do make mistakes, just as skaters competing fall down - so do judges. Some of the things she does on the ice from an artistic standpoint cannot be matched the same way. Not only that, but the intricate level of difficulty in her artistry, I think is rarely seen.
    It's actually so funny because I am a big admirer of Polina Edmunds. Sometimes I find her to be so underrated. And all I kept hearing was "Ashley Wagner" this and "Ashley Wagner" that. So today I clicked on a video to watch her skate for the first time. I was thinking she was going to be just plain average. Because sometimes America likes to award mediocre competitors and say how supposedly wonderful and unbeatable they are. It is always within our popular culture to do so. However, I have to say she wasn't average at all. She's so unique in the way she skates and I can see why she stands out from the others. She has won me over. And as much as I like Polina, I can admit the fact she doesn't have quite all the finesse and small attentive details in her presentation as Ashley has. Ashley also has such a sense of fine-tuned coordination. You can see she has been training hard for so many years

      Ashley stole nothing, she earned it. She is the reason the US had 3 spots for the olympic team and she had the best international results of any US lady during that quad. Mirai on the other hand had all sorts of trouble through those years and had no coach at nationals, she landed all her jumps but was visibly out of shape and taking rests throughout her programs. She had no good results internationally that year, she didn't have any resume to back her up and had she gone to the olympics she would have finished lower than 10 for sure. Mirai has grown so much since then, and had some gone then we might have never seen her rise. She is so trained now, she has everything on her side and has fought for it without ever saying anyone stole anything from her, because they didn't.
      I am so sick of everyone always dragging Mirai into everything Ashley does.

    Everyone is complementing Wagner on her honesty. But this girls a poor sport. Let us all reflect on the 2014 Nationals when she Came in 4th place and took Mirai Nagasu's 3rd place Olympic QUALIFYING finish for the Sochi Olympics. Let's all reflect on how MIRAI did her interview. Cause if anyone had a right to complain about the judges or the Olympic committee's decision to send a lackluster 4th place none qualifying skater to the Olympics; Mirai would have had every right to. But she didn't, she was graceful and did no media tours like this poor sport. As a matter of fact, Mirai never had an interview, she only made a classy statement to the media complimenting the judges decision. But no, not Wagner, shes keeping it ALL THE WAY REAL THO......Like a "Real" poor sport. This girl is average, and it's shown in her work and her performances. You were average then, and you're average now. Now we see MIRAI Nagasu tearing it up at the Olympics. Landing triple Axles (The Third Woman; and second American after Tonya Harding to land a triple axle) and most likely will win Gold. So, be gracious Wagner; something you don't know how to be, and let these ladies have their day, like they let you have your "fraudulent" day

    Good PR... Because she sounded like an entitled white girl crying about not being selected to the team when she was lucky enough to be named to the team last time, considering she's pretty much in the same position. There was such a build up to LaLaLand and it was empty af and the layout of the first half was almost identical to her Moulin Rouge (a program she used 2 yrs in a row) not to mention she popped her most important jump combination. This performance was a flop and sadly she's not as strong as the other girls nor has she provided a great track record for the season. And you are writing the same comment under every Ashley-supporting comment in this video, go get a life. 1. While the situation with Mirai seemed stinky, look at the criteria for Oly qualification, something else counts beside nationals and Ashley as better at that time. It was 4 years ago, people need to get over it. Maybe people will now complain that Adam goes to Olympics instead of Ross? She has the right to complain, cause this year nationals were pretty awful if it comes to scoring. Bradie, another overhyped newcomer American princess who won only thanks to judges who boosted her with undeserving PCS. Ashley who skated not at her best still didn't get PCS she deserved. I've seen her skating worse internationally and getting better PCS.
