Reminds me of Operation Flashpoint 1985, the precursor to Arma, PUPG, etc. Use to play that game a lot, even built missions using mod and scripts on PC many years ago.

I suggest you check out a game called "Afterconflict". It is set during the cold war and it looks similar to Squad. I thought this video was going to be about that game after seeing the thumbnail.

I'm very familiar with it and have played it! Keeping my eye on that one too! Absolutely insane detail in ballistics, weapon handling, scopes, etc. really neat.

It's cold war era, so more modern than HLL but not modern as in today.

It was in development a couple years back but then the devs decided to table it to focus on a different game they were also developing at the time. But now they've announced that 83 is back in full swing development.
