This video is excellent! I got my umbrella plant 4 years ago and it's been a journey. I was never able to keep plants alive before this one. I love all the detailed information you provided. Thank you so much!
Thanks! 🥰
Thank you!
Nice set up.
Great advice, thank you 🏴
Hi Angela my umbrella plant is dropping leaves there brown and little soft thanks Angela love your channel
Sounds like it's been over watered! 😮💨
Thank you @@thegirlwithashovel
Great information what if they drop leaves that are brown but not crispy subscribed thank you
Then this would fall under the "yellow leaves" section. 😊
Great video…… what is the remedy for cold drafts if you don’t have another spot in your house for it? My plant is really large. I’ve had it for a long time.😢 It’s dropping leaves daily. Thanks💕
If it's from a door then try to keep the door shut as much as possible. From a window, better insulate the window. From a vent, add a vent cover to change the air from being directly blowing on it. Also consider lowering your watering at this time. I hope this helped! 😊
Great video that will definitely help my plant have a more stable life, but im wondering, should I take away the leaves that have fallen or is it Okay and or better to keep them in the soil to break down naturally?
I suggest take them out. Indoors you don't have the same air circulation and soil structure as outdoors. They can start to decompose and may cause bacterial issues for your plant. They also won't look good lol. 😆
mine is sprouting new growth but still dropping leaves! its by the window for light but maybe too draughty! But I've nowhere else to put it. Its tall. I wander if taking cuttings and starting again might be an idea? Do you have a video on propagating these plants? Thanks for your advice
Yep! You can find it in my "Propagation and Repotting" playlist. Good luck! 👍 😊
I have a question ive had my umbrella for 20 yrs ive repotted it again as it was dying its been a fortnite all the leaves are drooping but not brown ive removed the dead leaves but still no sign of life 💔
It sounds like it could be a watering issue. You'll have to check the soil and see if it is too wet. That would be my first guess in this situation.
@thegirlwithashovel I think I've overwatered it thanks for uour reply love from the UK 🇬🇧
Thanks for the video...I feel better about my scheflerra's annual June/July hissy fit. It tends to drop leaves for a few weeks in the late spring/early summer. Now I wonder if that's related to the outside foliage changing the scheflerra's light source or turning on the a/c indoors. Things to note for next spring/summer.
Sounds like you're on the right track!
Thanks for your video. If a pot is too big will that result in the plant not growing at all?
It could cause root rot. That's the biggest worry of having it in a pot that's too big.
Do u have a video on fungas knats?
Not yet but it's in the queue. I haven't had them in so long I'll probably have to buy one with fungus gnats just to show you how to get rid of them! 😂
Very informative! Mine has some wrinkled leaves, not soft, not dry, not dropping, just wrinkled (some of them), is it also inconsistent watering? Thanks!!
It depends on what you mean by wrinkled. If it's more shrivelled then this is usually under watered. But if it's more curly then this is the inconsistent watering I was taking about. Good luck! 👍
How do you cut it back correctly? Mine is so leggy😮
Check out my video on umbrella plant propagation. It's in my propagation and repotting playlist. That will show you where to cut your umbrella tree. 👍
My umbrella plant is on a southeast facing windowsill. Still leggy.
Wow! That's crazy!
Thank You! Other videos were just fluff, no actual useful information. This was exactly what I needed! Just moved house a few weeks ago, and soft (not dry) drooping leaves, and newer growth was 'leggy' and long. What a combo. Any hints for watering cycles for those of us with umbrella plants on lava rocks? This seems to be hard to get information on/figure out, as you can't just stick your finger under the soil. Thanks!
With the leggy comment it sounds like you should first increase your light. Then you can have more water in your pot without having to worry! 😉
If my umbrella plant lost a lot of leaves and is looking rather thin will those leaves eventually come back and fill out. Should I ever cut it back? It's almost to the ceiling now.
I wouldn't propagate it until it's healthy. It sounds like it is not getting enough light and it's stretching upwards. I would move it closer towards a window or get it a plant light! 😊
I have been waiting to be approved on your facebook page. i want to share some pictures of mine. My friend past away on the 8th of this month and i no it need help but not sure how to do it.
Are we best watering from the top or the bottom?
My plant has some sticky, sappy stuff on it but I don't see any little bugs or scale??? Help.
They're probably there. Check for any webbing in the leaf joints...
😂
