  • Korumburra is located in the scenic rolling foothills of the Strzelecki Ranges in South Gippsland, west of Leongatha. It is located on the South Gippsland Highway, 120 kilometres (75 mi) south-east of Melbourne, in the South Gippsland Shire local government area.
At the 2016 census Korumburra had an urban population of 3,639
The town was an important black coal mining centre in the late 1800s, but as that industry declined, Korumburra turned to dairying due to its fertile soils and reliable rainfall, allowing cattle to graze on rich, green pastures all year round. Burra Foods operate a large factory in Korumburra, producing a range of dairy products.
One of Korumburra's main attractions is Coal Creek where you can step back in time at this historic village and park which re-creates life in South Gippsland during the pioneering days of the late 1800s and early 1900s.
The town also has many hiking tracks and rail trail bicycle tracks.
The town is now being developed (rumoured) with large areas of former farm land being developed for new residential estates, which within the next ten years will expand the size and population of the township by 75 to 100 percent.
    Notable people from Korumburra include:
    1. Bruce Hungerford, pianist
    2. Ken Lay, former Chief Commissioner of Victoria Police
    3. Jill Singer, journalist, columnist and television presenter
    4. Ron Strykert Co-founder, lead guitarist and songwriter for Men At Work.
